Opis:
This article revolves around research into the language of the media with special emphasis placed on a description of the fundamental mechanisms of condensing content in printed and audio and visual media. Condensation is among the basic tools of content accumulation; it is related to simplifying the message, generalization and stylistic deformations. Mechanisms applied to summarize have been identified within various areas, including construing messages and releasing to media as well as modes of organizing the content. Of importance here is the trend of replacing verbal messages with visual messages (tables, photos, information graphics, charts, coverage). While condensation is reflected in media as a communication-related activity strictly functionalized within a message, in its structure (cf. the summarizing role of titles, leads, visualizations), it is also conditioned by genre-related issues (cf. news, previews etc.) and most times results from the broadcaster’s strategic efforts.

Opis:
The paper presents the circumstances and data accompanying meteorite falls in recent years. The study contains descriptions of 21 falls observed in 2020 and 15 falls in 2021. These phenomena took place on all continents, except the polar regions. In conclusion, this work is a collection of several dozen stories about freshly fallen meteorites. They show many aspects connected with the observations and the hunting for new specimens.

In 2022, there were ten meteorites found worldwide after fresh falls. These are primarily ordinary chondrites, but one achondrite fall was also recorded. Meteorite falls occurred in the United States (3) and China (2) but also in Algeria, Brazil, Slovakia, India, and the Philippines. This paper shows how these meteorites were found and provides conclusions before future searches.

The author of the article defines school communicative situation as the one requiring from the student an ability to use specialised language known as the language of school education. According to regulations currently in force, improving the fluency in the said language is a task of teachers of all school subject because knowing it is one of the conditions of attaining educational success. This scientific paper is a summary of the meteorite falls in 2017: Broek in Waterland (Holland), Tres Irmaos (Brazil), Serra Pelada (Brazil) and Kheneg Ljouâd (Morocco). The study also includes a section about unconfirmed falls, such as Puya Medio (Colombia), Mukundpura (India), Crawford Bay (Canada) and Sadiya (India). The vast majority of these specimens is ordinary chondrites of the L and LL groups. Only Serra Pelada meteorite turned out to be eucrite and Mukundpura is suspected to be carbonaceous chondrite. The author collects and organizes basic information about these findings and compares the latest data with statistics from previous years. The description of the circumstances of finding meteorites are brief and maintained in the popular-scientific tone. The text also includes a set of fireballs and bolides that could end with a meteorite fall. Among them is also a bolide that was visible from Poland. The thesis resembles the criteria for dividing meteors and notes the differences in their naming. It is extended by analogies and comparisons that make possible to look at the issues from different perspectives: from the statistical, through the media, to the historical one.

This scientific paper aims to systematize knowledge about the circumstances of meteorite falls in 2018. Eight of them were officially confirmed by The Meteoritical Society: Hamburg (USA), Ablaketka (Kazakhstan), Aba Pan (Nigeria), Mangui (China), Ozerki (Russia), Renchen (Germany), Gueltat Zemmour (Morocco), Komaki (Japan). Seven more have not yet been classified: Central Kalahari (Botswana), Glendale (USA), Benenitra (Madagascar), Bhakkar (Pakistan), Ghadamis (Libya), Elkouran (Morocco) and meteorite fall from the Sahara Desert. It turns out that the most numerous group of meteorite falls in 2018 were L6 chondrites. There were no iron or stony-iron falls. The author collected information from many different sources. He analyzed entries in the MetBull catalog, publications in social media and press reports in order to compare them with official data from previous years. In this way, he tries to prove that although the circumstances of each meteorite fall are different, coherent conclusions can be drawn from them, and these can help meteorite researchers, for example, in verifying eyewitness accounts.

In 2019 two meteorite showers occurred on Earth, which ended with the fall of hundreds of fragments in Cuba and Costa Rica. Apart from them, meteorites with a total weight of probably less than 10 kg landed in Algeria, Morocco, Iran, India, and Germany. This work is another summary of the year in terms of meteorite falls. It includes information on the circumstances of these phenomena and their scientific consequences. The author collected information from many sources, especially the media and meteorite hunters, to describe in a brief form how the meteorites fell last year. The purpose of his work is to gather basic and proven knowledge, which can serve as an inspiration to further explore the history of meteorites, own meteorite hunting, and draw the attention of researchers to interesting falls in distant regions of the world.

Opis:
Abstract (sometimes called summary) of a scientific publication is a brief text that contains keywords. It is one of the elements of a bibliographic description in the bibliographic database iSybislaw – a modern information retrieval system. In the paper definitions of terms such as abstract, annotation and summary along with their constitutive elements are presented. A characteristics of such short texts inserted in the iSybislaw database in the fields Abstract and Abstract 2 is also given. Based on some examples excerpted from the iSybislaw system a typology of short texts, which are elements of the database bibliographic description, is proposed. The material allows to list three kinds of texts that are being used in the iSybislaw database: annotations, abstracts and biographic annotations.
Przedmiotem analizy artykułu są krótkie teksty, które stanowią jeden z elementów opisu bibliograficznego w systemie wyszukiwawczym iSybislaw. W praktyce naukowej używane są różne terminy odnoszące się do takich tekstów (abstrakt, adnotacja, streszczenie). Autor podaje ich definicje oraz wskazuje elementy konstytutywne. Na podstawie przykładów wyekscerpowanych z systemu iSybislaw przedstawia ich typologię oraz omawia miejsce i funkcje w opisie bibliograficznym.

W artykule omawiam segment streszczający recenzji cenzorskiej. Przedmiotem analizy są wybrane materiały archiwalne GUKPPiW z roku 1950. W pierwszej części charakteryzuję segment streszczający ze względu na następujące kryteria: cel, kanał komunikacji oraz kryterium wierności tekstowi. W następnej części wskazuję na stałe elementy organizujące wypowiedź cenzorską, takie jak: odtworzenie ciągu przyczynowo-skutkowego recenzowanego utworu, charakterystykę postaci czy stosowanie formuł inicjalnych. W części ostatniej podnoszę kwestię jednej z podstawowych cech definicyjnych streszczenia, czyli obiektywizmu. Wykazuję, że funkcjonariusze z Mysiej, mając „rację z urzędu”, nierzadko zachowywali jedynie pozory obiektywizmu.
In the paper I describe the summarizing segment of the censorship review. The subject of the analysis are the archival materials of GUKPPiW from the year 1950. In the first part I analyze the summarizing segment according to the following criteria: aim, communication channel and faithfulness to the original. In the next part I point out constants which organize the syntax of censorship review, i.e.: the recapitulation of causal continuity of the reviewed work, character descriptions and initial formulas. In the last part I discuss the problem of one of the main definitional features of the summary, that is objectivity. I point out that the officials from the Mysia street kept only appearances of objectivism and functioned as if they were “right by default”.

Статья посвящена изучению особенностей аннотирования текста гендерной языковой личностью на уровне дискурса. Языковая личность рассматривается с точки зрения гендерной дифференциации и направленности мышления. Исследование дискурсивной специфики речевой деятельности языковой личности осуществляется благодаря анализу текстов-аннотаций, созданных представителями разных полов с определенным типом мышления.
This article concerns the peculiarities of text summaries created by different gender language users at the discourse level. The language user is examined from the point of gender differentiation and mind orientation. Discovery of discourse features of the language user’s speech activity is carried out by means of an analysis of texts written by men and women with different gender mind orientation.

Szkic prezentuje najciekawsze lub też najbardziej doceniane przez recenzentów polskie książki prozatorskie i poetyckie opublikowane w 2021 roku. Jego celem jest swoiste podsumowanie tego, co działo się na polskim rynku wydawniczym w minionym roku. Autorka próbuje odpowiedzieć na pytania dotyczące tego, jak kształtowały się listy bestsellerów i czy pandemia koronawirusa w jakiś sposób wpłynęła na pisarzy/pisarki, poetów/poetki i wydawców, pojawiając się w ich tekstach. Zamysłem było sprawdzenie, jakiego typu literaturę piękną najchętniej wydawano i jacy twórcy cieszyli się największym zainteresowaniem recenzentów. Krótka analiza i interpretacja dziesięciu wybranych książek prozatorskich i poetyckich pokazuje również, jak o nich pisali inni komentatorzy współczesnego życia literackiego. Wybór tekstów został oparty zatem nie tyle na subiektywnych odczuciach autorki, ile przede wszystkim na recepcji. Celem szkicu stało się ponadto zaprezentowanie różnorodności publikacyjnej oraz zwrócenie uwagi na najpopularniejsze tendencje twórcze. Wśród wymienionych prozaików i poetów znaleźli się: Łukasz Barys, Wioletta Grzegorzewska, Jakub Kornhauser, Joanna Mueller, Daniel Odija, Kira Pietrek, Maciej Płaza, Andrzej Stasiuk, Antonina Tosiek, Bohdan Zadura – a zatem w większości przypadków autorzy doskonale znani polskiej publiczności czytającej, którzy ogłosili swoje nowe książki niekiedy po kilku latach milczenia. Z przygotowanego zestawienia wynika, że szczególnym uznaniem (również „zawodowych”) czytelników cieszyły się zwłaszcza te utwory, w których twórcy próbowali scalać rozbite tożsamości, powracali do traumatycznej przeszłości, usiłując uporządkować „tu i teraz”, lub dyskutowali o problemach komunikacyjnych, a także te opowieści, które określić można mianem zaangażowanych społecznie. Tekst mieści się w obrębie literaturoznawstwa i krytyki literackiej.
This sketch presents the most interesting and critically appreciated Polish fiction and poetry books published in 2021. Agnieszka Nęcka-Czapska’s aim is to give a summary of what happened on the Polish publishing market in the past year. She addresses the question concerning the shaping of bestseller lists and whether the coronavirus pandemic affected fiction writers, poets and publishers by making itself present in literary productions. Her goal has been to examine what type of literature was most often published and which authors attracted the greatest interest among reviewers. A brief analysis and interpretation of ten selected books of prose fiction and poetry shows, moreover, how other commentators on contemporary literary life have written about them. The choice of texts was therefore based not on Nęcka-Czapska’s subjective feelings about them, but rather on their reception. Another goal of this sketch has been to present the diversity of publications and to draw attention to the most popular creative tendencies. Among the fiction writers and poets mentioned here are: Łukasz Barys, Wioletta Grzegorzewska, Jakub Kornhauser, Joanna Mueller, Daniel Odija, Kira Pietrek, Maciej Płaza, Andrzej Stasiuk, Antonina Tosiek, and Bohdan Zadura, i.e., mostly authors well known to the Polish reading audience, among them those who published new books after several years of silence. The list shows that particular recognition among readers (also the “professional” ones) was accorded to works whose authors tried to heal damaged identities, returned to the traumatic past trying to organize the “here and now”, and addressed communication problems. Readers also appreciated stories that can be described as socially engaged. The sketch falls within the areas of literary studies and literary criticism.
