Opis:: The article sets out to provide analyses of indefinite-personal sentences as a way of language semantics representation regarding the peculiar third-person subject. It was defined that indefinite-personal subject semantics is represented in sentences which consist of the verbal third-person singular predicate in the Present or Future Tense. It may also be represented in sentences which consist of the verbal predicate of neuter gender in the Past Tense in cases of a lack of the subject syntaxeme and are used in such functional variants as: indefinite-uncertain, indefinite-irrelevant, indefinite-incomprehensible, and indefinitelocative. They are the effect of the varieties of indefiniteness of semantics interaction with third-person semantics. This points to their personal subjects.

Opis:: Light verbs are generally considered on semantic grounds: Light verbs are contrasted with predicative verbs because the former lack argument structure. In this paper, I argue that light verbs should rather be considered on syntactic grounds, i.e., in terms of the structure of the sentence. From this point of view, light verbs highlight the central property of verbs tout court: namely, to construct a VP. In § 1, I argue that only on this basis can light and predicative verbs be consistently contrasted. In §§ 2 and 3, I address the question of the structure of a VP with a light verb. In § 4, I address the question of the relationship between argument structure and semantic richness.

Opis:: The main aim of this article is to present an outline of the most important part of a theoretical-cognitive conception by Désiré Mercier, a founder of a Neo-scholastic Louvain school, showing not only the issue crucial to his philosophy, but also an evolution of an epistemological thought by a Belgian cardinal. In this main part, the article examines an evolution of Mercier’s means of interpretation of a classical definition of truth, and shows a prospect for the analysis of his understanding of a judgement’s nature, especially the nature of the references between its two basics constituents: a subject and predicate. In Mercier’s opinion, it is the most important problem in all theory of certainty, and he defines it like a first fundamental problem – a synthesis of the subject and predicate, i.e. the question on the status and cognitive value of different kinds of opinion. His effort in solution of this problem concerns mainly A general criteriology, Mercier’s main work in which a systematic theory of cognition is derived from Thomas Aquinas’s classical texts, confirming a Thomistic epistemology on the paths of a philosophical realism.
