Opis:: The paper presents the stand structure in the "Zdroje" common yew nature reserve in Szczecin. In 2006 the stand was built by 1848 trees that belonged to 14 species. Scots pine was the most numerous species (1067 trees). There were also 533 common yews. The other species were represented by 1−76 specimens. The diameter structure of six the most important species as well as the height structure of a common yew were analysed. Changes in the height structure of a common yew over 28 years were presented as well. No natural regeneration of common yew was observed.

Opis:: The impact of two different kinds of thinning on structural diversity of pure, even−aged Scots pine stand, is analysed. The real thinning, performed in the field, is compared with simulated computer thinning. Both thinnings make use of the same set of future (elite) trees, but differ in respect to method of marking of trees for removing. To determine the impact of thinning mode on stand structure, the overall diameter distributions, as well as some structural indices (diameter differentiation, dominance index, contagion index), before and after thinnings, are analysed and compared.

Opis:: The paper focuses on dbh distributions in the natural spruce stands at different stages and in different phases of virgin type forest development in the upper montane belt (according to developmental cycle by Korpel). The dbh distributions: normal, logarithmic−normal, Weibull and gamma that were found on 12 permanent study plots measured in 1991−1994 depended on the developmental stages and phases of the stands analysed.

Opis:: The objective of this research was to describe the horizontal distribution of trees in the managed Norway spruce stands located in the Sławno Forest District. The knowledge of that stand feature may be useful for the forest management in natural as well as in artificial stands. This paper presents the analysis of the spatial pattern of trees belonging to the different diameter classes in two separate stands. Majority of the living trees in both stands characterised with random spatial distribution. Trees with small (≤20 cm) dbh were localised in groups the most often.

Opis:: The impact of differentiation thinning on various aspects of structure of exemplary Silver fir stand, including overall diameter distribution, diameter spatial diversity, dimension dominance and spatial distribution pattern, is analysed. Comparison of empirical diameter distribution (before and after thinning) with a the−oretical Liocourt−Meyer curve and the results of structural analysis, lead to the general conclusion that in case of relatively simple−structured Silver fir stands, achieving a desired, plenter−like structure is a longterm process, requiring a lot of consistency and patience.
