    Opis:
    This paper presents research and measurements leading to obtaining the Young’s modulus of wing bearing structures of selected insect species. A small testing machine intended for three-point bending and equipped with instruments registering low forces was constructed for the needs of the experiment. The machine was used to perform numerous bending tests of wings of three species of insects (obtained from a breeding farm): Attacus atlas, Vespa crabro, Libellula Depressa at various air-humidity conditions. Values of the force and displacement obtained in the course of the tests were used to calculate Young’s modulus. In order to do so, it was also necessary to obtain the moment of inertia of the wing cross-section. These values were measured on the basis of the images obtained with a SEM microscope. Obtained results were averaged and presented with a breakdown by air-humidity conditions. It was observed that Young’s modulus decreased with an increase of humidity, hence the calculations of the percentage decrease of this mechanical parameter were performed. Obtained results were compared with the observed structure which was also presented under light microscope. It transpired that the construction of a wing does not only influence the mechanical values but also it influences their susceptibility to the changes occurring in the environment. Thereby, differences between Lepidoptera and Hymenoptera insects were indicated also within the aspect discussed in this paper.

    Drewno jako materiał budowlany znany jest człowiekowi odkąd zaczął budować własne schronienia. Na przełomie milionów lat nauczyliśmy się go stopniowo obrabiać, by następnie wraz z rozwojem wiedzy zacząć wnikać w jego strukturę i uporządkowanie, wykorzystując coraz bardziej jego zalety i wyszukując mu coraz to nowsze obszary zastosowań. Z tego też względu drewno nie jest już dziś jedynie prostym w pozyskiwaniu materiałem budowlanym, ale stało się ono dla nas surowcem, materiałem wyjściowym do produkcji innych użytecznych człowiekowi wyrobów. W Polsce materiał ten mimo, że wraca do łask, swoje lata świetności chwilowo ma za sobą, natomiast świat nadal odkrywa go na nowo, dając mu coraz nowsze obszary zastosowań.
    Wood as a building material has been known to mankind since people started to build their own shelters. Over millions years human gradually learned to shape wood and later, with the development of knowledge, began to learn also its structure. People have tried to take advantages of wood parameters and have searched for new application areas for this material. Therefore nowadays, the wood is not only a simple, easy to acquire building material, but also becomes the starting material for the production of other useful products. In Poland, despite the fact that now wood is slowly coming back into favor, its glory years have already passed. On the other hand the world still finds it again and gives the wood newer areas of application.

    Przedstawiono charakterystykę gospodarstw rolniczych pod względem struktury użytkowania ziemi i zasiewów oraz obsady inwentarza żywego, położonych na terenie gminy Dobczyce. Wykorzystując analizę statystyczną opisową dokonano porównania poziomu nakładów surowcowo-materiałowych w badanych gospodarstwach, a następnie oceniono strukturę tych nakładów.
    Selected farms localized on the area of Dobczyce commune, were characterized in respect of the land use, crop structure and the livestock density. Using descriptive statistical analysis the level of raw material and material inputs were compared on surveyed farms; next, the structure of these inputs was evaluated as well.

    Wymagania tego cennego miejsca zachęciły nas do potraktowania planowanej hali jako części istniejącego krajobrazu ze wszystkimi jego charakterystycznymi cechami. Widok z alei Focha – poprzez halę w kierunku wzgórza Salwator i kościoła Świętego Zbawiciela – zasugerowały nam formę fasady północnej budynku. Panoramiczne widoki pobliskiego wzgórza wraz z Kopcem Kościuszki są dostrzegalne z wnętrza budynku przez elewację zachodnią. Hol wejściowy, podniesiony o metr ponad poziom chodnika przyległej alei Focha, wychodzi na Błonia, ponad ruch przejeżdżających samochodów. Hala stanowi część tego krajobrazu, wyłaniając się z warstwowego terenu. Łączy poziomy chodnika wzdłuż alei Focha i ścieżki na grobli rzeki Rudawy z parterem i tarasem dachowym. To właśnie na tych wielu powierzchniach – poziomej i pochyłej, zewnętrznej i wewnętrznej –zrealizowaliśmy dane wytyczne funkcjonalne.
    The requirements of the precious site encouraged us to treat the planned hall as part of the existing landscape with all its distinctive features. The view from Focha Avenue – across the hall and towards Salwator Hill and the Church of the Holy Saviour – suggested to us the form of the northern facade of the building. The panoramic views of the nearby hill with Kościuszko Mound are visible from the building’s interior through the west elevation. The entrance lobby, lifted a meter higher than the pavement level of the adjacent Focha Avenue, looks out towards the Błonia meadow, above the passing car traffic. The hall forms part of this landscape, emerging right out the layered terrain. It connects the levels of the pavement along Focha Avenue and the path atop the Rudawa river dike with the ground floor and the rooftop terrace. It is on those multiple surfaces – horizontal and inclined, external and internal – where we realized the given functional brief.

    Opis:
    During archaeological excavations in Nowy Łowicz, Pomerania (Poland), in 1991, burial mound 55 with a woman’s grave was examined, in which numerous fragments of textiles, costume accessories and jewellery had been preserved. The work presents the results of structural and technological analysis of fragments preserved. Based on these, as well as on preserved iconography and analogous archaeological finds, an attempt was made to reconstruct the woman’s clothing from the period to which the grave is dated, i.e. phase B2/C1 of the Roman period. The reconstruction was made by means of computer graphics and includes three elements of clothing: a shirt, dress and short coat, made by identified techniques and partly taking into account the original colours. The work done is particularly important due to the fact that this is the first attempt to reconstruct a woman’s complete clothing worn on the territory of what is now Poland in the above-mentioned period.
    Podczas wykopalisk archeologicznych w Nowym Łowiczu na Pomorzu w 1991 roku zbadano kurhan 55 z grobem kobiecym, w którym zachowały się liczne fragmenty tkanin, ozdób i biżuterii. W pracy przedstawiono wyniki analizy strukturalnej i technologicznej zachowanych fragmentów tkanin. Na ich podstawie, a także na podstawie ikonografii i analogicznych znalezisk archeologicznych podjęto próbę zrekonstruowania ubioru kobiecego z okresu, w którym datowany jest grób, tj. fazy B2/C1 okresu rzymskiego. Rekonstrukcja została wykonana za pomocą grafiki komputerowej i obejmuje trzy elementy ubioru: koszulę, suknię i krótki płaszcz, wykonane w zidentyfikowanych technikach i częściowo z uwzględnieniem oryginalnych kolorów. Wykonana praca jest szczególnie ważna, ponieważ była to pierwsza próba rekonstrukcji kompletnego ubioru kobiecego noszonego w okresie rzymskim na terytorium dzisiejszej Polski.
