Opis:
The paper compares the accuracy of a computerized instrument using the CYFORM software with that of a traditional instrument for measuring roundness profiles equipped with an analogue dial gauge. The results for the two instruments were compared with those obtained by a standard Taylor-Hobson TALYROND 73. The work discusses the procedures of the statistical analysis of the experimental method error and the accuracy of the instruments tested.
W niniejszym artykule przedstawiono porównanie wyników uzyskanych za pomocą przyrządu do pomiaru zarysów okraglości w urządzeniach technologicznych w wersji tradycyjnej tj. wyposażonej w analogowy czujnik zegarowy, ze skomputeryzowanym przyrządem pomiarowym działającym przy użciu oprogramowania CYFORM. Porównania dokonano względem urządzenia wzorcowego TALYROND 73 firmy Taylor-Hobson. Przedstawiono procedury testowania statystycznego eksperymentalnego błędu metody. Ustalono i podano dokładność testowanych urządzeń oraz na ich podstawie sformulowano wnioski.

The purpose of the paper is to conduct a statistical analysis that will examine the problem of crime against the standard of living. The paper attempts to determine the relationship between the level of crime in Poland, and the level of life. A ranking of provinces, determining the level of crime and quality of life, was created. In order to sort the objects the method of multidimensional comparative analysis was used. By using this method, the hierarchy of provinces was created. The research enabled indicating groups of objects that are similar in the examined phenomena.

Opis:
Statistical analysis of large sets of 14C dates may be a source of information on global or regional environmental changes. Since the nineteen seventies, an analysis of the frequency distribution on a time scale of 14C-dated samples has been carried out for several selected geographic regions. This paper presents basics of the applied method and examples of cumulative probability density functions constructed for 14C dates of peat from territory of Poland. It is emphasised that preferential sampling plays an important role in such a type of analysis. The problem of absolute age determination has been discussed, too.

The great motorway research and construction investments have brought and are still bringing a huge set of new data. In 2019 alone, one million new archaeological artefacts were sourced. Therefore, there is a problem of systematic and comprehensive development of the obtained sources, in which statistics may be helpful. The article introduces selected statistical methods and shows examples of their use. It focuses on their usefulness in archaeological research, and thus it may become a boost for their wider use in the development of archaeological sources.

The objective of this paper is to assess the participation of adults in Poland in lifelong learning. The participation in education of Poles aged 25-64 was analyzed at three levels: national, regional and individual. The data at the national level were confronted with the situation in Europe and the data at the voivodeships level were considered in the context of regional competitiveness. The main factors influencing the educational involvement at the individual level were detected by the application of classification trees. The results of the analysis indicate that lifelong learning in Poland is not sufficiently developed and some regional differences occur in this field. The educational attainment was found as the most important determinant of the participation in continuous learning.

Preliminary outcome of the tests of laser distance measurement modules being a part of the PNDS system (Pilot Navigation & Docking System) developed within the OPIE project (Operational Programme Innovative Economy) in Maritime University in Szczecin are presented in the article. The tests were carried out in laboratory conditions and the actual conditions which may occur during the system’s operation. The modules of the digital laser distance meters available on civilian market were compared. Statistical analysis comparing the accuracy of the laser distance meters was presented and based on it, their general effectiveness was evaluated making part of the preliminary prototype of the PNDS system.

In recent years, the aviation sector has been developing dynamically. The constant increase in the number of passengers contributes to an escalation in the number of air operations. This trend is mainly due to the increased traffic not only in airspace but also within airports. The large concentration of aircraft at the largest airports makes ground-flying phases such as taxiing or take-off becoming a challenge for pilots, ground services, and air traffic controllers. An intensive operation of many objects on the airport's manoeuvring areas can lead to collisions between them. Global air traffic is growing constantly, with record numbers of air operations and passengers carried. The probability of a collision increases, which leads not only to the cancellation of the flight but also to the significant costs of the aircrafts repair. The statistical analysis allows to highlight the problems related to the issue of ground collisions at airports and can also confirm the thesis concerning the growth and density of air traffic.

The results of measurements of instantaneous pressure in the cylinder are most often inputs tofurther calculations of the characteristic parameters of the working cycle of the engine. Many repetitions of measurements always feature a degree of unrepeatability in registered cycles, making determination of the so called representative round difficult. The paper considers the problem of estimating the minimal number of measurement cycles for the registration of pressure in order to obtain a representative course ofpressure in the cylinder of an compression ignition engine. Maximum pressure was adopted as an indicator of cycle repeatability. After excluding systematic errors, repetition ofmaximum pressures recorded in subseąuent measurement cycles were analyzed for fixed load and rotation speed of the engine, defining the coefficient ofvariation CV. subsequently, for selected states of the engine the representativeness of the average maximum pressure depending on the number of measurement cycles averaged was examined. full evaluation of the accuracy of the indication process in relation to the number of averaged measurement cycles reauires also determination of the so called expanded uncertainty of the measurement's result. Further analysis including determination of the expanded uncertainty of the measurement result revealed that pressure course averaging over 20 consecutive cycles of measurement is sufficient to obtain a representative cycle.

Opis:
Signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) information is required in many communication receivers and their proper operation is, to a large extent, related to the SNR estimation techniques they employ. Most of the available SNR estimators are based on approaches that either require large observation length or suffer from high computation complexity. In this paper, we propose a low complexity, yet accurate SNR estimation technique that is sufficient to yield meaningful estimation for short data records. It is shown that our estimator is fairly close to the (CRLB) for high SNR values. Numerical results also confirm that, in terms of convergence speed, the proposed technique outperforms the popular moment based method, M2M4.

The results of the study devoted to the evaluation of reliability of the multiple linear regression model for safflower seed yields prediction were presented. Regression model reliability was assessed by the direct comparison of the modeled yields values with the true ones, which were obtained in the field trials with safflower during 2010-2012. The trials were dedicated to study of the effect of various cultivation technology treatments on the safflower seed productivity at the irrigated lands of the South of Ukraine. The agrotechnological factors, which were investigated in the experiments, include: A – soil tillage: A1 – disking at the depth of 14–16 cm; A2 – plowing at the depth of 20–22 cm; B – time of sowing: B1 – 3rd decade of March; B2 – 2nd decade of April; B3 – 3rd decade of April; C – inter-row spacing: C1 – 30 cm; C2- 45 cm; C3 – 60 cm; D – mineral fertilizers dose: D1 – N0P0; D2 – N30P30; D3 – N60P60; D4 – N90P90. Regression analysis allowed us to create a model of the crop productivity, which looks as follows: Y = –1.3639 + 0.0213Х1 + 0.0017Х2 – 0.0121Х3 + 0.0045Х4, where: Y is safflower seed yields, t ha-1; Х1 – soil tillage depth, cm; Х2 – sum of the positive temperatures above 10°С; Х3 – inter-row spacing, cm; Х4 – mineral fertilizers dose, kg ha-1. A direct comparison of the modeled safflower seed yield values with the true ones showed a very slight inaccuracy of the developed model. The maximum amplitude of the residuals averaged to 0.27 t ha-1. Therefore, we conclude that multiple linear regression analysis can be successfully used in purposes of agricultural modeling.

Nowadays, methods are being searched in order to detect Parkinson’s disease at an early stage. This would aid faster diagnosis and a more objective assessment of the severity of the condition. This paper focuses on examining whether typing differs between healthy people and people with varying degrees of Parkinson’s disease. The analysis used publicly available data from the physionet.org database [1], which contains results from 227 people over several experimental days. Data from only 108 subjects were used, with a maximum of 3 days of use of the Tappy application by one participant with at least 200 clicks considered. Computer keyboard typing parameters, such as button hold time, latency and flight time were taken into account. Statistical analysis of the data obtained using non-parametric Kruskal-Wallis tests showed that there were no statistically significant differences (α < 0.05) between the study groups (healthy people and people with varying degrees of Parkinson’s disease). However, the reason for this may be the small study group and the lack of consideration of medications taken when matching to groups.

Wastewater management is considered to be a great challenge, particularly in towns and cities with rapidly growing population. The study aimed to assess the Al-Muamirah WW treatment plant (WWTP), located in the Babylon governorate of Iraq, in terms of its hydraulic loading as a quality performance indicator. The findings showed that there will be a significant deficit in the capacity of the plant of 20%, 32% and 37% in the year of 2024, and will cumulatively arise in 2030 to become 26%, 41.5% and 47.7% for suggested growth rates of 1.27%, 2.5% and 3.95%, respectively. The outcomes of expected amounts of daily discarded wastewater in terms of estimated population were analyzed using the ANOVA test and it was found that the population growth ratio has a significant impact on the generated inflow, as f (2,30) = 3.713, and p= 0.019 < 0.05.
