- What was measured in this research were the attitudes to the economic freedom and the interventionism of the state into the economic and social sphere. The examinations were conducted in 2003 (a sample of 325 students) and in 2008 (a sample of 379 students). It was assumed that there are differences between these two groups in acceptance of attitudes and that those attitudes depend on the value system. The results of the research allow to state that most students (over 60%) support economic independence of enterprises (attitude 1) and indicators of this attitude increased in the second examination. At the same time most students (about 70%) find it justifiable to support low-income citizens and to limit financial differentiation of society (attitude 2). Indices of this attitude were similar in both surveys. The attitudes were connected with a specific pattern of a value system which indicates differences from the “individualism – collectivism” perspective. The “individualists” accept the rules of a market economy; the “collectivists” are in favour of the interventionism of the state into the economic and social sphere.
