Państwa świeckie zakładają system relacji między Kościołem a państwem oparty na separacji utożsamianej powszechnie z zasadą oddzielenia Kościoła od państwa.
At present, besides confessional states, which assume the existence of one official religion, there are secular states which are characterised by their separation of the Church from the state and the state from the Church. Secular states utilise a system of Church – state relations relying on separation commonly identified with the principle of separation of the Church from the state.

In the first part of the article the author sketches an overview of the history of architectural constructions in the state of the first Piasts. She describes the origins of the „gród" (stronghold), a construction form typical for Slavonic territories of the early Middle Ages. She also characterizes the construction technology and the kinds of fortifications used. The history of the Tum island is discussed from the beginning of settlements there in the context of the emerging Polish state. Since almost the entire knowledge of the stronghold at Ostrów Tumski is rooted in archaeological research, the history of excavations is presented from their beginnings in 1938 up to the most recent results of studies on the fortifications obtained in 2011

This article strives to assess the condition of the contemporary state. The author thinks that the contemporary state is more powerful than ever in history and that this power is strongly rooted in the wants of its citizens. The recent global economic crisis has legitimized the state even further. Although the contemporary state is increasingly polycentric and its structures are less and less hierarchic and transparent, the identity and integration of the political system are not in danger. The state’s immense power is a serious threat to its citizens and to democracy. The processes of nationalization of societies are stronger than the processes of socialization of states. Hence one of the (widely understood) key problems of theWest is how to preserve citizen autonomy. This autonomy is being increasingly threatened by various state agencies and the welfare state’s typical clientism, which try to control each and every citizen. The usual response to this danger is to call for limitation of the state’s role, for a minimal state, etc. This author thinks that such postulates are unrealistic, because citizens want the state to be a welfare state and because such a state is functional for democracy. The best response to the threat to individual autonomy and to democracy is the republican response: only the politically mobilized people can maintain an elementary level of state socialization and an essential degree of state segmentation, both of which create the necessary space for individual freedom.

Idea intronizacji Chrystusa Króla jest problemem bardzo złożonym i wręcz niemożliwym do jednoznacznej oceny. Można jednak na nią spojrzeć jak na wydarzenie niezwykłe i wręcz przełomowe. Tematem niniejszego artykuły jest ukazanie zarzutów z jakimi musiało się zmierzyć dzieło intronizacji Chrystusa Króla w Polsce oraz ich krytyczna ocena. W opracowaniu zostały wyodrębnione trzy główne zarzuty wobec idei intronizacyjnej: zarzut tworzenia państwa katolickiego, zarzut zawłaszczenia kategorii narodu przez zwolenników intronizacji oraz zarzut zaprowadzania porządku teokratycznego w Polsce. Powyższe argumenty oponentów tego dzieła i prowadzone wokół nich dyskusje doprowadziły to tego, że w społeczeństwie polskim odważono się na nowo podjąć dyskurs dotyczący miejsca religii w przestrzeni publicznej. Brak jest jednak rzetelnego uzasadnienia ukazującego zasadność powyższych zarzutów w debacie publicznej. Niejednokrotnie argumentacja przeciwników dzieła intronizacji Chrystusa Króla ukazywana jest w kategoriach lęków lub obaw, które mało mają wspólnego z rzeczową dyskusją na ten temat.
The idea of enthronement of Christ the King is a very complex problem and impossible to unambiguously assess. However, you can look at it as an unusual and even groundbreaking event. The subject of this article is to show the charges against which the work of enthronement of Christ the King in Poland had to face and their critical assessment. Three main accusations against the idea of enthronement were elaborated in the study: the accusation of forming a Catholic state, the accusation of appropriating the category of the nation by supporters of enthronement and the charge of establishing theocratic order in Poland. The above arguments of the opponents of this work and discussions around them led to the fact that the Polish society was dared to take up a new discourse regarding the place of religion in public space. However, there is no solid justification showing the legitimacy of the above allegations in the public debate. Often the arguments of the opponents of the work of the enthronement of Christ the King are presented in terms anxiety or fear, which have little to do with a substantive discussion on this subject.

The civic identity of an individual is seen as a dynamic system of citizen's perceptions of himself / herself and related emotions and value-semantic elements derived from the awareness of the fact that he / she is a citizen of a state and at the same time a member of the community of citizens. The results of the study support the notion that awareness of being a citizen of the state does not already mean having civic identity. Only 34% of interviewed students have a well-formed positive civic identity; 37% are showing some uncertainty, vagueness, ambiguity in their perception of themselves as citizens; 15% reject their Ukrainian civic identity, have a well-formed negative civic identity, and, more than other types, exhibit passive-indifferent civil position; 14% make a group of "potential emigrants" who are ready to change the Ukrainian civic identity for another. The differences in worldview and value-motivational sphere of students with the formed positive ("reached"), undefined ("indistinct" / "diffuse"), formed negative ("negative-passive") and "protest" ("potential immigrants") civic identity have been discovered.

The main functions of the state border, such as barrier, filter, contact are studied. It is proved that currently there is activation of contact function of the state border. It is underlined that the Ukrainian-Polish border is characterized by processes of contact function strengthening. Origins and political aspects of the formation and development of the Euroregion “Buh” in the Ukrainian-Polish border; the positive impact of cross-border cooperation within these structures on the socio-economic development of border areas; the prospects and ways of further intensification of Ukrainian-Polish border cooperation and positive effects from increased contact functions of the Ukrainian-Polish border are studied.

The paper analysed the basis and methods of the functioning of the Catholic Church in France, the country that the principle of secularism is inscribed in the constitution and the separation of the Churches of the state is treated as a fundamental principle, but still within its territory there are also other systems in relation to the state of the Catholic Church. In most parts of the country, and three overseas departments (Guadeloupe, Martinique and Reunion), inforce the Act of 1905 on the separation of churches from the state, which deprives the churches and church agencies of the legal entity. For a three eastern departments of the country (Lower Rhine, Upper Rhine and Moselle), is valid Concordat of Napoleon from 1801, which divides of religion to „recognized” and „not recognized” by the state. Cults of personality are considered public law and the state has to have a number of obligations, such as financial maintenance of the clergy, but also rights as the right to appoint people to high positions in these religions. In almost all the overseas territories of all faiths apply to the decrees of 1939, the so-called. Mandela decrees under which the resulting administrative councils involved in the management of the assets of churches and other religious organizations. In French Guiana, there are two systems. Catholic Religion is the only cult „recognized” by the state and funded directly by them pursuant to the Royal Decree of Charles X in 1828, and to other faiths apply these decrees Mandela.

The contemporary, Western European social thought shuns any attempts to define the social sphere by the category of “nation”. Meanwhile, as many Polish thinkers examining the social dimension of human existence argue, a properly understood concept of nation helps in better understanding of the social dimension of the person and explains many phenomena of community life. This article is an attempt to portray, in a synthetic way, understanding of the category of “nation” which can be found in the work of the most outstanding representatives of Polish personalism.

The White Book
Opis:
Main prerequisite for any state to maintain its sovereignty and territorial integrity is defined by its ability to maintain its security and defense. By doing so, states define through their strategic security documents their security environment, security interests, security and in the end their security and defense policies. Same applies for Slovak Republic (SVK). Within its security system, developed in order to implement security and defense policies, Armed forces of the Slovak Republic (AF SVK) play crucial role. AF SVK significantly contributes to the process of maintaining peace, security, sovereignty, territorial integrity and fulfillment of international obligations by which Slovak republic is committed. Within the need to maintain auto reproductive function of the AF SVK, Ministry of Defense of the Slovak Republic prepared strategic document assessing development of capabilities of AF SVK and requirements for future development – The White Book. Government of SVK approved this document on 26 of June 2013 under number 326/2013. As such it created basic environment for future development of AS SVK in order to boost their capabilities within security system of SVK. Nowadays actualization of the White Book is considered, which will adjust requirements for development within AF SVK after changes to security environment of SVK established in 2013.

Artykuł prezentuje ewolucję doktryny katolickiej odnośnie do zasad, jakie powinny kształtować relacje pomiędzy Kościołem a państwem i innymi wspólnotami politycznymi. Zasada poszanowania pluralizmu światopoglądowego współczesnych społeczeństw oraz zasada wolności religijnej są fundamentalne. Z nich wynikają inne – zasada poszanowania wzajemnej autonomii i niezależności oraz współpracy dla dobra człowieka i dobra wspólnego. Istnienie różnych interpretacji tych zasad może mieć negatywny wpływ na harmonijne kształtowanie stosunków pomiędzy Kościołem katolickim a państwem.
The article presents the evolution of the Catholic doctrine regarding the principles that should shape the relations between the Catholic Church and the state. The principle of respecting the pluralism of the worldviews of contemporary societies and the principle of religious freedom are fundamental. From them arise others – the principle of respecting mutual autonomy and independence and cooperation for the good of man and the common good. The existence of different interpretations of these principles may have a negative effect on the harmonious shaping of relations between the Catholic Church and the state.

Opis:
Tertullian held a rigorous opinion about the attitude of martyrs towards the state and people in power. He analyzed the cases of Christians involving in the social life of pagans. Among others, he discussed the issue of military service, the work of teachers and government officials as well as the relationship of Christians to the emperor. The necessity to kill in case of soldiers, to participate in pagan ceremonies and work in government positions were all associated with violation of Christian principles. The faithful were obliged to pray for the well-being of the emperor and of the Roman Empire. Christians’ aversion towards the state increased during their persecutions. They were not good government officials because, due to their faith, they were unable to fully execute all commands and were sentenced to martyrdom in consequence. It can be concluded that Tertullian encouraged withdrawal from the life of the state in order to remain faithful to God.

Artykuł dotyczy analizy problemów związanych z uzyskaniem statusu organizacji pożytku publicznego przez kościelne osoby prawne w polskim systemie prawnym. Przedstawione zostały wymogi i podstawowe skutki prawne nabycia przez kościelne osoby prawne tego statusu, które podzielono na aspekt strukturalny i personalny. W dalszej części opracowania został przedstawiony zarys aktualnej procedury sądowej uzyskania powyższego statusu przez kościelne osoby prawne. Na zakończenie artykułu przedstawiono podstawowe wnioski.
The article concerns the analysis of the problems related to obtaining public benefit status by church legal persons in the Polish legal system. In article were presented the basic requirements and legal consequences of the acquisition by the church legal persons that status, which were divided into structural and personal aspect. In the next part of the elaboration was presented the current legal procedure for obtaining this status by church legal persons. Significant conclusions from the analysis were presented at the end of the article.

Niemniej jednak sposób postrzegania tego pojęcia na gruncie tych dwóch odmiennych porządków prawnych różni się zasadniczo. W prawie kanonicznym dobro wspólne zazwyczaj odnoszone jest do wspólnoty politycznej i kościelnej. Dobro wspólne Kościoła związane jest z urzeczywistnianiem się wspólnoty Kościoła. Natomiast w prawie polskim dobro wspólne jest wartością i zasadą konstytucyjną, która ma zasadniczy wpływ na charakter państwa oraz relacje państwo-obywatel. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie miejsca i roli dobra wspólnego we współczesnym prawodawstwie kościelnym i państwowym.
The common good is a fundamental term which is included in both canon law and secular law. However, the way of perceive this concept under these two different legal systems differs fundamentally. In canon law, the common good is usually referred to the political and ecclesiastical community. The common good of the Church is connected with the realisation of the community of the Church. In Polish law, however, the common good is a constitutional value and principle, which has a fundamental impact on the character of the state and relations between state and citizen. The purpose of this paper is to present the position and role of the common good in contemporary ecclesiastical and state legislation.
