Opis:
Celem pracy była ocena emisji NOx ze spalania biomasy wierzbowej kilku klonów wierzby krzewiastej (Salix viminalis) pozyskanej w drugim, trzecim i czwartym roku uprawy w rejonie Koszalina, na glebie lekkiej, na zróżnicowanym nawożeniu organicznym i mineralnym.
In the study the influence of combustion of shrubby willow shoots was evaluated in laboratory conditions upon the content of the nitrogen oxide NOx in combustion gases. Analyses covered biomass of nine willow's clones cultivated four years in light soil using compost from municipal sewage sludge and diverse doses of fertilizer Hydrofoska 16. Samples of biomass were taken in two terms (directly after mowing during winter and at the turn of May and June). The combustion of samples of willow biomass from the willow's crop after the harvest in the first and second term in years 2008÷2010 was carried out in temperatures: 300°C, 600°C, 900°C and 1200°C. During combustion the intensity of air flow amounted to 8.0 dm3 ź min-1. Formation of nitrogen oxide NOx during combustion of willow biomass was mostly influenced by temperatures of combustion (73.4%), less influenced by age of acquired willow shoots (10.6%), and joint action of temperature of combustion and age of the willow shoots (8.0%), and relatively little influenced but essential, by day of biomass harvesting (0.3%), fertilizer combinations (0.2%) and the willow clones (0.1%). The differences among extreme levels of factors under investigation concerning content of nitrogen oxide NOx in combustion gases in order of diminishing effects were ranked as follows: temperature of biomass combustion - 212.7 mg/m? NOx, age of the willow's shoots - 71.6 mg/m? NOx, fertilizer combina-tions - 12.0 mg/m? NOx, date of biomass sampling - 8.7 mg/m? NOx and the willow's clones - 8.5 mg/m? NOx. The smallest quantities of nitrogen oxide NOx formed in the process of combustion of biomass developed in temperature 300°C, and the highest in temperature 1200°C. Increase of combustion temperature from 300°C to 1200°C resulted in increase of the content of nitrogen oxide NOx in combustion gases. The smallest quantities of nitrogen oxide NOx produced during combustion of the willow biomass were obtained in fourth year of cultivation, and higher from cultivations in third and second year. The highest quantities of nitrogen oxide NOx produced during combustion of the biomass were generated from "d" objects, where the highest doses of compost and the fertilizer Hydrofoska 16 were applied. On the contrary, the smallest quantities of nitrogen oxide NOx were produced during combustion of biomass from "a" objects, where compost and fertilizer Hydrofoską 16 were not applied. Use of intensive organic and mineral fertilization (object "d") caused essential stronger air pollution by nitrogen oxide NOx than combustion of biomass originating from objects of lower mineral fertilization (object "c"). Higher quantities of nitrogen oxide NOx were produced during combustion of willow biomass from the first term of sampling biomass (February 2008 and 2009 and November 2009) than from the second term of sampling (at the turn of May and June). The highest quantities of the nitrogen oxide NOx were produced during combustion of willow biomass clone 1052 (127.8 mg/m?), and the smallest during combustion of clone 1033 (119.3 mg/m?). Creation of the nitrogen oxides NOx was influenced by double interactions also: fertilizer combinations with temperatures of combustion, fertilizer combinations with age of shoots, temperatures of combustion with term of sampling, temperatures of combustion with age of shoots and date of sampling with age of shoots, and also threefold interaction of temperatures of combustion with term of sampling and age of shoots and fourfold interaction of fertilizer combinations with temperatures of combustion, term of sampling and the age of shoots. Total interactions were responsible for 15.4% of content of nitrogen oxide NOx in combustion gases.

W artykule została przedstawiona analiza termodynamiczna spalania rozdrobnionych roślin energetycznych, oparta na bilansie substancji. Z pomocą obliczeń stechiometrycznych określono rzeczywiste zapotrzebowanie powietrza, ilości spalin suchych oraz ich skład. Wyniki obliczeń porównano z pomiarami wykonanymi na stanowisku laboratoryjnym podczas spalania wierzby energetycznej, miskanta olbrzymiego i ślazowca pensylwańskiego.
This paper was presented thermodynamic analysis of combustion particulate feedstock, based on the balance sheet of the substance. With the help of stoichiometric calculations determined the actual air demand, the amount of dry flue gas and its composition. The calculation results were compared with measurements made on a laboratory during the combustion of the willow, the miscanthus and the Virginia mallow.

Opis:
The growing demand for electricity produced from renewable sources and the development of new technologies for the combustion of biomass, arose a growing interest on the possible coupling of thermoelectric modules with stove-fireplaces. The current thermoelectric generators have a solid structure, do not produce noise, do not require maintenance and can be used for the recovery of waste heat or excess, at the same time they hold a very low conversion efficiency and they need an adequate cooling system. Nevertheless, they still hold a cost, which is still too high to make them attractive. Nonetheless, if the modules are applied to a heat source which otherwise would be wasted, the attractiveness of the solution certainly rises. In this study, a thermodynamic analysis of a stove-fireplace is presented, considering both combustion process and the flame – walls heat transfer of the. A design solution for a concentrator device to funnel the wasted heat from the fireplace to the thermo-electric modules is also presented.

Opis:
Omówiono zagadnienie emisji tlenków azotu NO i NOx z gleb uprawnych i gleb ekosystemów naturalnych, a także naturalnego spalania biomasy. Zjawisko rozpoznano dopiero przed trzydziestoma laty. Niemniej przeprowadzone od tego czasu badania wykazują, iż omawiana emisja z tych źródeł osiąga ok. 20 mln t N-NOx rocznie, co odpowiada nagłośnionej emisji ze spalania kopalnych zasobów energetycznych. Największa emisja tlenków NO i NO2 z gleby i ze spalania biomasy pochodzi z obszarów zwrotnikowych i podzwrotnikowych. Proces nitryfikacji jest głównym źródłem emisji tlenków NO i NO2 z gleby, wydajność tego procesu zależy od dostępności amonu w glebie. Dostępność ta jest regulowana wilgotnością i temperaturą gleby oraz ilością i rodzajem stosowanych nawozów. W glebie powstaje znacznie więcej tlenku NO niż zeń emituje, gdyż tlenek NO ulega utlenieniu do NO2 i obydwa gazy są pobierane przez mikroorganizmy i rośliny. Emituje tylko niewielka porcja powstałego gazu, która dotrze do powierzchni gleby.
The problem of NO and NOx emissions from arable and natural soils and from biomass burning is presented in this paper. The phenomenon was first recognized 30 years ago. The studies made so far estimate the global emissions from these sources at about 20 million tons per year which is comparable with the emissions from burning fossil fuels. The greatest emissions take place from the tropical and subtropical areas. Nitrification is the main cause of the NO and NOx production and emissions from soils. Its efficiency depends on the availability of ammonium in soil. Ammonium availability is controlled by soil temperature, water content and the type and amount of applied fertilisers. More NO is produced in soil than emitted from it as NO is oxidized to NO2 in soil and both gases are taken up by microorganisms or plants. At the end, only a small portion of produced gases that reaches the soil surface is emitted to the atmosphere.

Opis:
The paper deals with the study of the influence of various factors, which have an impact on emissions such as NOx, CO, which have been verified by measurements. Biomass in the form of wood chips as fuel of different moisture content from 9% to 25% has been tested at various boiler outputs. The presented work also defines the mathematical dependencies of NOx and CO emission generation by using regression analysis from measured data after biomass combustion in low-power boilers. The paper also describes a mathematical model of biomass combustion. The mathematical model was created to verify the measured data and prediction of emission generation in the process of biomass combustion. This model consists of combustion of stoichiometry, calculation of combustion temperatures, obtained regression equations of NOx and CO. At the end of this paper, the obtained results are compared with the calculated models as well as the results of the defined dependencies from the regression analysis.
