The political regime in the state depends not only on the balance of political forces in the society, political relations, means and methods of realizing power, relations between state and society, but also from the state of political culture as a national leader and ruling elite, and the population. The cooperation of citizens with power in post-totalitarian states symbolizes the democratic character of the country. In post-totalitarian political cultures, the concept of citizenship is associated with a sense of belonging and identification with the state. The characteristic type of political culture of society contributes to the establishment of a certain political regime, supports its stable functioning. A regime that contradicts the established norms and values of the political culture of the population cannot function effectively and exercise political power in a society.

The article explores the interactions between the family and the market in the context of the happiness and tensions that exist between these two social institutions. The analysis undertaken here also stresses the importance of culture, understood as the norms, values and beliefs which are important for a wide range of actions and processes within a society, and treats it as a useful perspective for the explanation of complex socio economic phenomena. Firstly, the nature and mutual dependence of these two spheres is characterized in order to highlight that the desired social order cannot function without any of them. In this respect the article also aims to explain the role that the family plays in society and the happiness achieved by its members. At the same time, it is stressed that the proper functioning of society depends largely on the vision of a man that a given society accepts. By doing this, the limitations of the anthropological assumptions of the dominant neoclassical economics are indicated and discussed. Secondly, the article shows how the family dimension of human life – social in its nature – is intrinsically connected with the issue of happiness. It is important to stress this because to a large extent happiness in economics and different happiness indices seem to limit their analyses to subjective individual well-being. Finally, the article states that although market and family are to an extent complementary, the proper socio-cultural hierarchy and policies based on it should stress the priority of the latter. Evidence of different kinds for such a standpoint is subsequently presented. In the end, the categories of ‘social’ and ‘human’ capital and their correlation is engaged to improve understanding of the fact that a well-functioning family is a necessary condition for the development and long-term flourishing of the market.

This article refers to the phenomenon of domestic violence examined from the point of view of cultural factors and in the context of negative predispositions of particular social actors to undertake actions motivated by their need for power and domination over others. These issues were analysed in three thematic sketches, which relate to violence against men, women and children. Particularly noteworthy is the first group of recipients of violent behaviour. Violence toward men is in fact a phenomenon so far definitely marginalized in public discourse or even considered to be non-existent. In many cases, it is treated as a kind of cultural schizophrenia of the male social role. Therefore it requires more detailed analysis of the research, however while maintaining the necessary criticism realistically taking into account significance of violence experienced by men as a social problematic issue, not a media sensation and competitive issue in relation to the violent behaviour towards women and children.

The article presents the silhouette and artistic achievements of Jan Klata, one of the most famous Polish theatrical artists. Social and political context, concerning the process of sud-den acceleration in every field of social life, creates the background for describing creativity of this ‘rebel with Mohawk hairstyle’. The director whose works belong to so¬ called ‘socially engaged theatre’ highlights the untypical ideas by using language inspired by the elements of the reality around (popular, musical and media culture). He remains a defiant, rebellious artist who fights for Poland and the high quality theatre addressed to critical spectator.

The purpose of this article is to examine the role and importance of music in society. In particular, attention is paid on the educational value of art sound and musical skills of Poles and their participation in the musical culture. The main question is the question of the quality of these skills and socialization processes of individuals to music. The aim of the paper is also to discuss the institutional problems and obstacles of music education as well as to focus on the problem of the reproduction of the non-sensitive to music generations. The text is composed of four main parts. In the first of them there are discussed the general issues related to the role of music in society, including the process of acquiring musical skills and aesthetic dispositions (in the sense of Pierre Bourdieu), allowing individuals to take an active part in the musical life of the community. The focal point of the discussion also concentrates on such topics, as integration and communication power of music in society within the meaning of Alfred Schütz. The second part of the text contains the reflections on the educational role of music, including its ability to connect people, and shaping them socially desirable traits. The third part of the article refers to the issue of the musical competences of Poles, based on available quantitative data. The latter are useful to discuss the problem of intergenerational inheritance of weak music competences, and therefore the phenomenon of the reproduction of musical “illiteracy”. The fourth section provides some reflection on the specific consequences of music education system in Poland. In particular, the attention is paid to the issues such as the low level of participation in musical culture, and the regression of listening in the sense of Theodor W. Adorno.

This article aims to describe the cultural model of disability. In contrast to the social model of disability, which is strongly coherent, the cultural model of disability has not yet been specified, despite ongoing discussions on cultural determinants of understanding disability. In the first part of the article, the origins and essence of the cultural model are presented. Next, the four main assumptions underlying the model are characterised: 1) people perceive reality through the prism of their culture and experience acquired with it, 2) disability can have different meanings depending on what kind of discourse constitutes its meaning, 3) disability does not mean a feature of an individual, but a category of human differentiation, which can be embodied and thus materialised, 4) instead of just “looking” at people with disabilities and asking what problems they are struggling with, and what support from the society they need, the current perspective should be broadened and include the entire society and its culture. The final part of the article highlights the most important advantages of the cultural model of disability.

Polish feature films from the interwar period are to a great extent a reflection of the reality of that time. This can be seen mainly in the presentation of particular architectural objects and fashion from that time. The films are also a source of knowledge about the problems of the time: the impoverishment of the society, economic crisis, prostitution, etc. These pictures reflect reality, yet they are subject to numerous transformations, as the result of the conventions of the chosen genre.

The fundamental issue from the perspective of this article is politics, and more specifically the relationship between religion and politics. Tis relationship can be summarized in the question that is the proper issue of this analysis, it is the question of dialogue between religion and politics, the question of whether politics can be an effective and useful tool in liberating the world from its problems (i.e. wars, social and economic inequalities, ecological crisis), or it can be a tool for avoiding and eliminating contemporary threats to man and his culture, to the world. The above question can be reformulated as follows: can the Church in its evangelization and inculturation activities, operating in different cultures and countries with different political systems and doctrines, cooperate (build bridges) with politics. Is the dialogue between religion and politics possible (real) or not for various reasons (e.g. doctrinal)? Can cooperation of religion and politics, at the local and international level (according to the principle: think globally, act locally) contribute to the implementation of the project of “common Home” proposed by Pope Francis?

Modern media became a mass phenomenon which causes a pressure on how the world is viewed by spectators. This leads to generate new cultural view of reality. In the same time the spectator becomes the creator of this reality. In the context of the role of the media the question arises, if the man in the world of omnipresent „supervision” can still be free. In the context of modern socialisation, especially young generation, which develops in a much different manner than it was before, it seems that its necessary to ask a question how maas media shape and affect human identity. It wasnt so long ago when people got their cultural patterns from other people in their nearest surrounding, from the familly or national community. Now a days, information systems are often compared to natural forces which create new shapes of society. From the pedagogical point of view the most important element is to keep monitor failures and mistakes of bad usage of mass media. Its about preparing human to handle mass media and to cowork in creating them.

Identities in the contemporary world are not ready-made but are to a large extent constructed by individuals and groups of individuals in the process of social and cultural life. Practically all aspects of that life – perceived as own physical, mental, and social features – followed by autoreflection on them, as well as contacts with other people, social memory, power, or mass culture, may influence the process in which identity is being created. The paper focuses on separation and characterisation of factors that play a role in identity construction.
We współczesnym świecie tożsamości ludzi nie są gotowe, lecz są w dużym stopniu konstruowane przez jednostki i grupy w procesie życia społeczno-kulturowego. Praktycznie wszystkie przejawy tego życia – postrzeganie własnych cech fizycznych, psychicznych i społecznych wraz z autorefleksją nad nimi, kontakty z innymi ludźmi, pamięć społeczna, władza, kultura masowa – mogą oddziaływać w procesie konstruowania tożsamości. Artykuł poświęcony jest wyodrębnieniu i scharakteryzowaniu tych czynników biorących udział w konstruowaniu tożsamości.

Ostatnie działania Józefa Robakowskiego skoncentrowane wokół mediów społecznościowych zwieńczyła wystawa Co jeszcze może się wydarzyć, która odbyła się w maju 2019 roku w Galerii Profile w Warszawie. Artykuł jest dokumentacją tej ekspozycji, prezentacją poszczególnych elementów dokumentacji Robakowskiego, jej ekspozycja oraz konteksty, które omawiane były w czasie wernisażu oraz na spotkaniu autorskim w czasie trwania wystawy.
The most recent activities of Józef Robakowski focused on social media culminated in the exhibition What Can Still Happen, which took place in May 2019 at the Profile Gallery in Warsaw. The article comprises documentation of this exhibition, presentation of individual elements of Robakowski's own documentation, its exhibition and contexts, which were discussed during the opening and at the author's meeting during the exhibition.
