    The author of this article analyses the crisis of social ties as a huge challenge for the Christian vision of social life. Firstly, he refers to the moral and religious crisis of the post-modern era, and the depreciation of the social status of the human. Then, he presents the uniqueness of human being as well as potentiality. According to the Christian integral anthropology, presented by personalism, man remains a spiritual and material coexistence. In the last part, the author underlines the Christian idea that a society should acknowledge the dignity of each of its members, as well as guarantee the optimal functioning of human communities. Consequently, social procedures and institutions should be preceded by a consensus assuring the ethical minimum. If a society does not accept the fundamental values like: the dignity of every human being, the protection of their life, justice, equality, solidarity, it cannot function, at least not as a community of persons.

    The Catholic religion has been inextricably connected with the Polish state through numerous historical experiences. Being an important aspect of connecting society, it can be used in an instrumental way on the political agenda. Moreover, religiousness is an important determinant of electoral decisions. The aim of the research (N=238) is to check whether religiosity affects the perception of the importance of religious principles in everyday life and religion in political life. In the presented approach, religiosity was a multidimensional variable and was conceptualized using a modified five-point Religiosity Centrality Scale (Huber 2003). It was confirmed that all dimensions of religiosity are significantly related to the assessment of the importance of religious principles. The dimension that showed the strongest correlation with the created variables was the dimension of religious cult, and the dimension that correlated the least was the dimension of reading the Catholic press.

    It has to be pointed out that in the second half of the 20th century the public discourse was dominated mainly by two phenomena. Namely, to put that notion in short, the change of our culture from a word-centric into image-centric one. As well as the decrease of the importance of the worldview-ideological disputes. The aim of this article is to indicate the effects of these phenomena on the social life. The authors point out to the consequences of the decrease in the role of the intellectual motifs in favour of the growing importance of the emotions when making a political-based decision. Thus, the concentration of the voters’ attention on the personality of the politician, not on his or hers views, achievements or political program. Hence, one may observe the decrease in the role of the political party in the political life at the national level and the diminishment of the inner-party democracy and its direct effect, namely, widely seen growth of demagogy and populism.

    The social life is dependant on the procreative role of the family. The size and the characteristics of a population have got a vital impact on how a society functions. In that sense the family is the basis of social life. The papal social teaching draws attention to this fact. A more complex understanding of the procreative role is possible in the context of theology. In this particular perspective one can see the fundamental perils for the process of passing on life. They are manifested in acts of breaking the communion with God. The negative tendencies in the area of procreation, in both anthropological and social aspect, can be overcome when the parents gain the awareness of how much they have been given by God. They have received life and they participate in the process of continuous creation of the world. God’s gifts carry certain obligations – some tasks to be fulfilled. In the case of the procreative role these obligations are: respecting the God’s commandments and taking up the mission of educators. The latter one follows the call to making a new human person come into being

    The article concerns the Pope Paul VI’s vision of the relationship between Christianity and the mass media. As a basis was adopted announced in 1967 the papal message for the I World Social Communications Day. Chronologically we are here at the threshold of the period of unparalleled mass media’s growth. The reflections and indications of Paul VI coincide with the assessment of this development, the contemporary status quo and the expectations related to the relationship between Christianity and the mass media. The article presents in general the Paul VI’s messages on the World Day of Social Communications. Then the attention is drown to the message for the I World Social Communications Day, ie. to the understanding of the human situation and the world as in dynamism of change, to the world of social media in perspective of the related responsibility and commitments and to the importance of Christian spirituality in such conditions.
    Artykuł dotyczy właściwej papieżowi Pawłowi VI wizji relacji między chrześcijaństwem i światem mediów. Za podstawę opracowania zostało przyjęte ogłoszone w 1967 roku papieskie orędzie na I Światowy Dzień Środków Społecznego Przekazu. Oceniając historię mediów ze współczesnej perspektywy, należy przyjąć, iż chronologicznie jesteśmy tu u progu okresu ich nieporównywalnego rozwoju. Tym samym myśl i wskazania Pawła VI zbiegają się z oceną tego rozwoju, obecnym stanem rzeczy i oczekiwaniami, gdy chodzi o relacje między chrześcijaństwem i mass mediami. Przedstawiono ogólnie orędzia Pawła VI na Światowe Dni Środków Społecznego Przekazu. Zwrócono uwagę na właściwe orędziu z 1967 roku rozumienie sytuacji człowieka i świata jako naznaczonej dynamizmem zmian. Wskazano na świat środków społecznego przekazu w perspektywie związanej z nim odpowiedzialności i zaangażowania oraz na duże, pozytywne znaczenie duchowości chrześcijańskiej w takich właśnie uwarunkowaniach.

    The message of God’s mercy has become the subject of a great extent of studies taken mostly up from the perspective of Dogmatic Theology or Spiritual Theology. It seems the matter of social interpretation of this message still remains wide open. Meanwhile, The Diary and John Paul II’s Encyclical Letter Dives in misericordia as well, which the writings of St. Faustina constitute an unquestionable inspiration, are far from interpreting mercy merely in an ascetic and individual dimension. Both of the texts distinctly encourage broadening the social aspect of the interpretation of mercy as the element of the renovation of the social life, which is the subject of this study.

    Pandemia COVID-19 przyczyniła się do aktywacji i rozwoju form komunikacji sieciowej o charakterze towarzysko-kulturalnym. Współczesny człowiek znalazł się w obliczu postępujących wyzwań w czasach, w których kultura stawia czoło wszelkim ograniczeniom pandemicznym dzięki nowym technologiom. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest ukazanie kultury jako systemu społecznych uwarunkowań i determinacji w nowej rzeczywistości postrzeganej jako teatr życia oraz jako międzyludzkich interakcji, której rolą jest komunikacja. Metoda badawcza zaprezentowana w artykule oparta została na obserwacji uczestniczącej oraz na analizie zawartości wybranych platform społecznościowych i komunikacyjnych, analizie krytycznej dostępnej literatury przedmiotu, zasadności desk research wypowiedzi eksperckich.
    The COVID-19 pandemic contributed to the activation and development of social and cultural forms of online communication. Modern man has found himself facing progressive challenges at a time when culture is confronting all pandemic constraints through new technologies. The aim of this article is to show culture as a system of social conditioning and determination in a new reality perceived as the theatre of life and as interpersonal interaction whose role is communication. The research method presented in the article was based on participant observation and content analysis of selected social and communication platforms, critical analysis of available literature on the subject, desk research of expert statements.

    The article is to point out the complexity of the idea of peace, which, once formed in the medieval era, has been the foundation of many contemporary institutions in the field of social life in a broad sense. The concept of peace, consisting of a number of issues, is central to the discussion herein. The full presentation of the idea of pax requires a reference to the social nature of man and to the relationship of the individual with the social group within which that individual lives. The issue of peace is also coupled with the idea of the common good. It is impossible to characterize the idea of bonum commune without a reference to the question of ordo and the essence of justice. The author proposes a thesis that the medievalist concept of pax combines political, legal, and moral reflection. It develops independently of the theory of wars. Particular attention should be paid to the idea of peace in the thought of Marsilius of Padua, who, drawing on Aristotle’s achievements and the ideas developed in the Middle Ages, devised an original concept of peace.
    Celem artykułu jest wskazanie na złożoność idei pokoju, która – ukształtowana w epoce średniowiecza – jest fundamentem wielu współczesnych instytucji z zakresu szeroko rozumianego życia społecznego. Idea pokoju stanowi główny nurt rozważań, składający się z szeregu zagadnień. Pełne przedstawienie idei pax wymaga odniesienia do społecznej natury człowieka oraz do relacji jednostki z grupą społeczną, w ramach której owa jednostka egzystuje. Problematyka pokoju jest również zespolona z ideą dobra wspólnego. Charakterystyka idei bonum commune nie jest możliwa bez odniesienia do kwestii ordo i do istoty sprawiedliwości. Autorka stawia tezę, że mediewistyczna koncepcja pax łączy w sobie refleksję polityczną, prawną i moralną. Rozwija się niezależnie od teorii wojen. Na szczególną uwagę zasługuje idea pokoju w myśli Marsyliusza z Padwy, który korzystając z dorobku Arystotelesa oraz bazując na ideach wypracowanych w średniowieczu, stworzył oryginalną koncepcję pokoju.

    Often we hear the opinions of the people who complain of the lack of ability in communication to other people of the gift of the Gospel message (e.g. Seeking the truth about God – non-believers or doubters) in a manner understandable to them. That is why it is so important in view of the appearing difficulties, do not lose patience and always counted on the help of God, which is reliably given, because the matter of knowledge of revealed truths and the joy of knowledge flowing from its, it is not a trivial and unimportant matter. This is a central issue in the whole work of evangelization. In this spirit Pope Francis in his Apostolic Exhortation Evangelii gaudium calls all believers to engage personally in zealous proclamation of the joy of the Gospel. This task should be treated as an urgent task, taking into consideration specific circumstances of everyday life in contemporary world. This study is an analysis of several examples of the challenges that – in accordance with the teachings of Pope Francis – should not reduce the apostolic commitment and enthusiasm. On the contrary, they confirme more and more that the proclamation of the joy of the Gospel is an urgent task in the contemporary world.
    Słychać często opinie ludzi wierzących, skarżących się na brak umiejętności przekazywania innym daru orędzia Ewangelii (np. poszukującym prawdy o Bogu ludziom niewierzącym czy wątpiącym) w sposób dla nich zrozumiały. Dlatego tak ważne jest, aby wobec pojawiających się trudności, nie tracili cierpliwości oraz zawsze liczyli na Bożą pomoc, która niezawodnie jest udzielona, gdyż kwestia poznania prawd objawionych i radość z tego poznania płynąca nie jest sprawą błahą i nieważną. To kwestia zasadnicza w całym dziele ewangelizacji. W tym duchu papież Franciszek w swej adhortacji apostolskiej Evangelii gaudium wzywa wszystkich wierzących do gorliwego zaangażowania się w głoszenie radości Ewangelii. Należy traktować to zadanie jako pilne, biorąc pod uwagę konkretne uwarunkowania codziennego życia we współczesnym świecie. Niniejsze studium jest analizą kilku przykładów wyzwań, które – zgodnie z nauczaniem papieża Franciszka – mogą przyczynić się do wzrostu apostolskiego zaangażowania i zapału, potwierdzając, że głoszenie Ewangelii jest we współczesnym świecie zadaniem pilnym.
