- Field weakening in induction motor drives is a well known strategy to control of angular motor speed beyond its nominal value. There are two main approaches to weakening field in induction machines. First and most common approach is based on static function where a proper value of rotor flux is given for certain value of angular shaft speed and supply voltage. In this case a proper information of motor drive parameters must be known. Second approach uses dynamic information about the control voltage signal to guarantees a proper voltage reserve to control stator currents. In this article both of methods was compared in a case of large voltage drops. It was shown that in transient states a dynamic filed weakening can provide a proper control of stator currents and consequently also electromagnetic torque and rotor flux. A simulation and test-stand results was included to show differences in compared methods.
