    The purpose of this paper is to determine, which of the independent scientific disciplines dealing with issues related to the European Union offers the research approach most apt for constructing theories of European integration and whether the basic theoretical paradigms of this discipline are sufficient to construct them. In order to achieve this, the following four perspectives of scientific disciplines have been analysed: political sciences, law, economics and sociology. The results of these considerations indicate that political sciences has the greatest influence on shaping the theories of European integration. Next, in order to the decide, whether the basic theoretical paradigms of political sciences are sufficient to construct theories of European integration, such theories as federalism, functionalism and intergovernmental approach have been analysed. To conclude, it can be said that in the case of federalism and intergovernmental approach – they are, and in the case of functionalism they are not.

    Purpose: The aim of this article is an attempt to characterize economic disciplines, i.e. economics and finance, as well as management and quality studies, based on their assignments to scientific journals, and to identify the place of these two disciplines in relation to each other and their links with other disciplines. Design/methodology/approach: Quantitative and network analysis methods were used for graphical representation and description of the complex relationships. The analysis was based on the data published on 31 July 2019, constituting a list of scientific journals. Findings: The results confirm a strong link between the two disciplines, but they also show some differences between them. The discipline of economics and finance is particularly strongly linked with the discipline of social and economic geography and spatial management. This is not the case for management and quality studies, which is more closely linked to disciplines outside social sciences. Research limitations/implications: The results are based only on a quantitative approach to the relationships between disciplines, therefore, they should not be used to draw too far-reaching conclusions, e.g. on the differences between these two disciplines in methods, subject matter or facilities under analysis. Further research may take into account, for example, different research trends and approaches within the disciplines themselves. Originality/value: Presented network approach shows the connections between scientific disciplines in a new holistic way. The results could be especially interesting for researchers whose studies are interdisciplinary.

    The paper describes the genesis and the teaching process of the Data Steward School, Edition 2020, the first Polish school for data stewards. The initiative was implemented by Visnea sp. z o.o. (“Visnea”) in cooperation with GO-FAIR in the period from September 2020 to April 2021. The participants of the Training Programme, future data stewards, gained knowledge of the role of correct data management in achieving institutional objectives. The need to protect the legal and financial interests arising from the possession and archiving of data and data management plan design guidelines, along with the methodology for data collection, metadata, the existence of data repositories, data security and the means of data sharing and storage were also presented. The paper presents the evaluation of the Training Programme and discusses proposals related to the role and importance of the new profession, i.e. the data steward in a scientific institution.

Adama Chmielewskiego Interdyscyplinarnie o interdyscyplinarności. Między ideą a praktyką. Anna Kola zaś uczestniczyła w pracach Samokształceniowego Zespołu Doktorów przy Komitecie Nauk Pedagogicznych PAN, kierowanym przez prof. Marię Dudzikową. Sytuacja wywiadu-rozmowy kierowanej jest hipotetyczna i możliwa, choć w obecnym kształcie stanowi jedynie wymysł autorów.
    The presented conversation is a constructive of the views of Professor M. Dudzikowa on interdisciplinarity in science, based on the original texts of the author. The article has two authors who personally met with Professor Maria Dudzikowa at the same time of their professional academic life. Adam Kola was invited to the seminar about interdisciplinarity in science provided by grant of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education headed by Professor Adam Chmielewski. Anna Kola participated in the work of the Self-Education Team of Doctors at the Pedagogical Sciences Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences, headed by prof. M. Dudzikowa. The situation of the interview-directed conversation is hypothetical and possible, although in the present form it is only a figment of the authors.

    The aim of the article is to present a base of Polish Publishers Open Access Policies as a tool supporting the scientific community in the implementation of openness policies. It is the first national platform to gather and analyze a publishing policy in the field of Open Access to Polish scientific journals. For scientists, it is a tool for searching for a Polish journal meeting certain criteria. It enables grant recipients to verify whether the journal meets the principles of Plan S. The database also provides information on the principles of using intellectual property.The functionalities of the database were analyzed based on NCN’s policy comparing them with the principles of publishing research results in Open Access. The specific criteria used in the Polish Publishers Open Access Policies database were compared with other databases: Arianta, SHERPA/RoMEO. The analysis shows that the Polish Publishers Open Access Policy is the only national database for Polish scientific journals, bringing together in one place information necessary for the scientific community on publication in Open Access. The database facilitates project preparation and implementation. Academic librarians, promoting the idea of Open Science, support the scientific community at each stage of the activity described, providing tools, knowledge base and competences.

    The purpose of this research was to specify the interrelationships of various scientific disciplines based on the official declarations of scientists. The most required scientific disciplines were identified for multidisciplinary research. Undirected graphs with the specified parameters were used for modelling of community structure. On the basis of an open database POLON, a graph was created for the connections among disciplines of science. The number of scientists in particular branches and disciplines of science was presented. The connections with in the branches of science and disciplines were shown. Four different measures were considered: percentage of double declarants, vertex degree, weighted vertex degree and betweenness centrality. The disciplines with highest level of interdisciplinarity were found, namely: biomedical engineering, informatics, culture and religious sciences, health sciences, and security sciences. On the contrary, very isolated disciplines were found, including the following: musical arts, astronomy, visual arts and conservation of cultural heritage, veterinary medicine, and archeology. Finally, it was concluded that two branches research (medicals sciences or management and quality sciences) are the most interdisciplinary in Poland.

    Przedmiot badań: W artykule dokonano analizy obszarów badań podejmowanych przez naukowców publikujących swoje artykuły w części ekonomicznej czasopisma Studia Prawno-Ekonomiczne. Analizie poddano wszystkie numery czasopisma, które funkcjonuje ponad 50 lat. Cel badawczy: Celem głównym artykułu jest zidentyfikowanie obszarów badawczych prezentowanych w części ekonomicznej czasopisma Studia Prawno-Ekonomiczne. W artykule dokonano przyporządkowania zidentyfikowanych obszarów badawczych do trzech dyscyplin naukowych, tj. ekonomii, finansów oraz nauk o zarządzaniu. W artykule uwzględniono artykuły opublikowane w Studiach Prawno-Ekonomicznych w całym okresie funkcjonowania czasopisma, tj. w latach 1968–2019. 1 Metoda badawcza: Treści przedstawione w artykule sformułowano na podstawie studiów literaturowych oraz analizy 832 artykułów opublikowanych w Studiach Prawno-Ekonomicznych. Szeroka formuła czasopisma oraz dostęp do tak dużej bazy artykułów pozwoliły na prześledzenie, jak na przestrzeni ostatnich 50 lat zmieniała się „polska myśl ekonomiczna”. Wyniki: Wyniki badań wskazują, że naukowcy najczęściej publikowali w Studiach Prawno-Ekonomicznych artykuły dotyczące ekonomii. Począwszy od lat dziewięćdziesiątych coraz więcej publikacji dotyczy nauk o zarządzaniu oraz finansów. Obszary badawcze podejmowane przez naukowców zmieniają się w zależności od sytuacji gospodarczo-politycznej Polski, Europy czy świata. Wyniki badań wskazują, że na przestrzeni analizowanych lat nastąpiła dywersyfikacja wybieranych przez autorów obszarów badawczych we wszystkich trzech przywołanych w artykule dyscyplinach. Obszarem badawczym, który w ostatnich latach jest przedmiotem szczególnego zainteresowania naukowców publikujących swoje teksty w Studiach Prawno-Ekonomicznych, jest nadzór korporacyjny. Co ważne, obszar ten podejmowany jest przez naukowców reprezentujących zarówno ekonomię, finanse, jak i nauki o zarządzaniu.
    Background: The article analyzes the research areas undertaken by scientists publishing their articles in the economic part of the journal Studies in Law and Economics. All issues of the journal, which have been published for over 50 years, have been analyzed. Research purpose: The main goal of the article is to identify research areas presented in the economic part of the journal Studies in Law and Economics. This article assigns the identified research areas to three scientific disciplines: economics, finance and the management sciences. This paper includes articles published in Studies in Law and Economics throughout the period of the journal’s operation, i.e. in the years 1968–2019. Methods: The content presented in the paper is based on literature studies and analysis of 832 articles published in Studies in Law and Economics. The broad scope of the journal and access to such a large database of articles allowed tracing how the “Polish economic thought” has changed over the past 50 years. Conclusions: Research results indicate that scientists most often published articles on economics in Studies in Law and Economics. Beginning in the nineties, more and more publications concern management and finance sciences. The research areas undertaken by scientists change depending on the economic and political situation of Poland, Europe, or the world. The research results indicate that over the analyzed years there has been a diversification of research areas selected by the authors in all three disciplines cited in the article. Corporate governance is a research area that has become of particular interest to authors publishing in Law and Economics in recent years. Importantly, corporate governance research has been undertaken by scientists representing economics, finance, and management sciences.

    Obowiązująca klasyfikacja nauki polskiej jest od momentu jej przyjęcia przedmiotem refleksji naukowej, wyrażającej się w wielu opracowaniach i nie mniejszej liczbie komentarzy. Wyniki takich rozważań prowadzą do wskazywania jej zalet, a także ułomności. Pojawiają się również koncepcje usunięcia dostrzeganych niedoskonałości. Za istotny problem analizowanej klasyfikacji można uznać pominięcie inżynierii bezpieczeństwa jako dyscypliny naukowej. Uwzględniając ten problem, w niniejszym opracowaniu zaproponowano skorygowanie klasyfikacji nauki i wyłonienie inżynierii bezpieczeństwa jako dyscypliny naukowej w ramach dziedziny nauk technicznych.
    The current classification of sciences is a subject of reflection from the moment of its acceptance, which is expressed in many studies and comments. The results of analysis indicate advantages and disadvantages and help to find a natural way to remove weaknesses. One of the problem of this classification that can be considered is omitting of security engineering. In relation to this issue the author suggests improving the classification of sciences by including safety engineering as a scientific discipline in the field of engineering science.
