    Based on a theoretical discussion from global perspective the paper describes present rural land administration and management structure in Bangladesh. Bangladesh is a land scarce country with high density population. As most of the people live in rural areas and depend on agriculture and allied activities, proper rural land management is crucial. The paper presents an overall view of rural land management in Bangladesh and reveals that present land management system is almost obsolete. Land administration system is conventional and characterised by inefficiency and corruption. Some of the major problems facing the country in managing rural land are outdated and inadequate land related policies and land laws, inequality of land ownership and landlessness, and increase conflicts over land. The study also looks at some potential measures taken by government to improve country’s land administration and management system. Finally the paper provides a set of guidelines to deal with present land management challenges.

    Opis:
    It is essential to have knowledge of the volume and technologies of anaerobic digestion of biomass and of the ability to estimate it on an energetic basis in order to determine in the production of farm animals and use in practice the production capacity of renewable energy from animal excrement. The aim of this study is to demonstrate (illustrated with an example of communes of Budzyń, Kaźmierz, and Kostrzyn Wielkopolski) a method of collecting data and to determine mathematically biomass energy available in the animal production. Furthermore, there are reviewed some specific technologies of the biomass conversion in the agricultural biogas production. It has been assumed that data on the collection and processing of biomass for the energetic purposes and research results on the production capacity of biomass energy available in the animal production of the analysed communes will ensure that some activities aimed at popularizing any available and innovative agro-energetic technical and technological solutions in rural areas of the Wielkopolska Province will be conducted.
    Do wyznaczenia w produkcji zwierząt gospodarskich i wykorzystania w praktyce potencjału wytwórczego energii odnawialnej z odchodów zwierzęcych, niezbędna jest wiedza o zasobności i technologiach biogazowania biomasy oraz umiejętność jej energetycznego oszacowania. Za cel opracowania przyjęto zaprezentowanie (na przykładzie gmin Budzyń, Kaźmierz, Kostrzyn Wielkopolski) sposobu gromadzenia danych i matematycznego wyznaczania energii z biomasy dostępnej w produkcji zwierzęcej. Ponadto w produkcji biogazu rolniczego przedstawiono przegląd wybranych technologii konwersji biomasy. Założono, że informacje odnośnie pozyskiwania i przetwarzania biomasy na cele energetyczne, oraz wyniki badań o potencjale wytwórczym energii z biomasy dostępnej w produkcji zwierzęcej analizowanych gmin, zapewnią na obszarach wiejskich województwa wielkopolskiego działania do rozpowszechniania znanych, oraz nowatorskich technicznych i techno-logicznych, rozwiązań agroenergetycznych.

    W opracowaniu przedstawiono analizę rozwoju dodatkowej działalności gospodarczej w gospodarstwach rolnych w krajach Unii Europejskiej. Rozpatrywano aktywność gospodarczą pod względem wielkości i specyfiki gospodarstw (kierunku produkcji) oraz zróżnicowania przestrzennego. W świetle przeprowadzonej analizy można stwierdzić, że dodatkowa działalność gospodarcza, rozumiana jako wielozawodowość właściciela (dodatkowe zajęcie), stanowi ważny element funkcjonowania małych obszarowo gospodarstw rolnych (do 5 ha, do 8 ESU). Natomiast w większych gospodarstwach dodatkowa działalność jest rozwijana jako dywersyfikacja działalności gospodarstwa.
    The study presents an analysis of growth of additional business activity in farms in European Union countries. Business activity was considered here in terms of the size and characteristics of farms (production line) and spatial differentiation. In the light of the performed analysis, it is possible to state that additional business activity understood as the owner's multiskilling (an additional job) constitutes an important part of the functioning of small-sized farms (up to 5 ha, up to 8 ESU). In larger farms, additional business activity is developed as a diversification of the farm's activity.

    The need for development of renewable energy sources (RES) results from both the current situation in the energy sector in Poland and the measures taken by the European Union, i.e. meeting EU commitments regarding increasing the share of energy generated from renewable sources by 2020. Energy derived from RES is favourable for both reduction of pollutant emissions to the atmosphere and water, and reduction of the volume of waste generated. This paper identifies the potential of biomass production for energy purposes in the region of Warmia and Mazury (Poland), which could be a key action for sustainable development of rural areas and investment activity.

    The aim of this article is to present the negative transformations of the palace and park complex in Bratoszewice after the ownership changes after IInd World War and to assess the current preservation of this complex and vision of the development of this area in the eyes of the inhabitants of Bratoszewice. This goal has been achieved by using the triangulation of the following methods: 1) desk research of existing data relatingto the palace and park, 2) cartographic inventory of the development of elements in the studied complex, 3) survey with Bratoszewice inhabitants, which are also users of the park and palace complex, 4) interview with the mayor of Stryków municipality during a research walk. The revitalization of the palace and park complex in Bratoszewice is still in doubt. Until the new owner appears, with financial resources and a clear vision of the development of this place, it is difficult to expect any changes. According to the Authors’ opinion, the best solution for this area would be the acquisition by the Stryków commune, and then using it for local social and economic purposes – commercial for a wider group of recipients (endogenous and exogenous function at the same time).
    Wskazany cel został osiągnięty poprzez wykorzystanie triangulacji metodologicznej: 1) analizy danych zastanych odnoszących się do kompleksu pałacowo-parkowego w Bratoszewicach, 2) inwentaryzacji elementów zagospodarowania badanego kompleksu, 3) wywiadu kwestionariuszowego z mieszkańcami wsi, będącymi jednocześnie użytkownikami badanego kompleksu, 4) wywiadu swobodnego z burmistrzem miasta Strykowa przeprowadzonego podczas spaceru badawczego. Rewitalizacja kompleksu pałacowo-parkowego w Bratoszewicach nadal stoi pod znakiem zapytania. Dopóki nie pojawi się nowy właściciel obiektu dysponujący odpowiednimi środkami finansowymi i sprecyzowaną wizją rozwoju tego miejsca, trudno liczyć na jakiekolwiek zmiany. Według Autorek, najlepszym rozwiązaniem byłoby przejęcie tego terenu przez gminę Stryków, a następnie przeznaczenie go zarówno dla lokalnych celów społecznych, jak i ekonomicznych – komercyjnych dla szerszej grupy odbiorców (funkcja endogeniczno-egzogeniczna jednocześnie).

The quality of the countryside has changed at an unprecedented rate, due to the use of EU funds. We are now at the beginning of the next financial cycle. It is a suitable moment to reflect and analyze the effects of our social and economic actions. Such a reflection would have a positive impact on the effective spending of funds by our country in the next financial cycle.

    The analysis of final energy consumption for heating in 74 rural communities of Lubuskie province is presented. Annual energy consumption in rural areas in the region was estimated based on models describing the final energy consumption in all objects in rural area. Heated buildings are divided into three sectors: housing, social and economic infrastructure, and agricultural production. The annual final energy consumption is about 18.6 PJ. The housing sector, consumes 15.6 PJ of energy, which amounts to 83% of the total thermal energy consumption in rural areas the province. The primary carrier of energy in rural areas is coal and biomass, which share in the structure of fuel consumption is respectively 62 and 19%.
    Przedstawiono analizę zużycia energii finalnej na ogrzewanie w 74 gminach wiejskich województwa lubuskiego. Roczne zużycie energii na terenach wiejskich województwa oszacowano w oparciu o modele opisujące zużycie energii finalnej we wszystkich obiektach wiejskich. Dla potrzeb pracy obiekty na terenie gminy podzielono na trzy sektory: mieszkaniowy, infrastruktury społeczno-ekonomicznej, oraz rolniczo-produkcyjny. Roczne zużycie energii finalnej wynosi ok. 18,6 PJ. Największym konsumentem jest sektor mieszkaniowy, który zużywa 15,6 PJ energii, co stanowi 83% całkowitego zużycia energii cieplnej na obszarach wiejskich województwa. Podstawowym nośnikiem energetycznym na obszarach wiejskich województwa lubuskiego jest węgiel kamienny oraz biomasa, których udział w strukturze zużywanych paliw wynosi odpowiednio 62 i 19%.

    In this paper is proposed concept of an information model for development of smart villages in the Republic of Croatia in Slavonia region. An insight into the existing supply of structured knowledge and broadcasting of important information in areas relevant to ‘smart villages’ shows that there are hundreds of information emitters that provide information for use in development of local ‘smart village’ projects. Therefore, this project proposes: (a) introduction of a specific institution (mini consortium of several villages) implementation unit, which will identify information needs for the thematic group of belonging villages, and accordingly (b) construction of an appropriate information system. Based on the results of these analyses, the concept of the „Alberta Information System for the Development of Smart Villages”, for Osijek Baranja County is proposed.
