Opis:
Equivalent weight matrix Px plays a major role in robust, free adjustment. It is contained in the optimization criterion P(dx) = dtxPxdx where dx is an increment vector to approximate coordinates of all network points. Assuming, that Px = px T(dx ), where Px is a priori weight matrix, the paper presents the way how to calculate an attenuation matrix T(dx)( dx is a standardized increment vector). Special attention is paid to the way of increment standardization and to computation of an increment variance matrix.

On machine measurement of artefacts such as single ball, multiple balls or even prismatic shape artefact is gaining popularity for the calibration of five-axis machine tools. However, calibration results can be degraded due to errors from different process variables such as the measurement strategies, rotary axes indexations and artefact dismount and remount cycles. This research investigates the repeatability of uncalibrated indigenous artefact probing and machine tool error parameters calibration against a number of process variables. Uncertainties of the estimated parameters are estimated to quantify the calibration quality.

Critical infrastructure risks pose a special problem for all countries. The companies that own these infrastructures operate in competitive and regulated environments. However, it is neither practical nor possible to protect critical infrastructures from all hazards. For the government, the continuity of these infrastructures is critical to many of its fundamental missions: economic stability and growth, national security, public safety, and quality of life. In that context resilience has become an important factor to fulfil the task of the critical infrastructure protection. Thus, the development of a framework to establish resilience goals could be helpful.

Zieliński (2009) constructed a nonparametric interval for At-Risk-of-Poverty-Rate. It appeared that the confidence level of the interval depends on the underlying distribution of the income. For some distributions (e.g. lognormal, gamma, Pareto) the confidence level may be smaller than the nominal one. The question is, what is the largest deviance from the nominal level? In the paper, a more general problem is considered, i.e. the problem of robustness of the confidence level of the confidence interval for binomial probability. The worst distribution is derived as well as the smallest true confidence level is calculated. Some asymptotic remarks (sample size tends to infinity) are also given.

Various mechanical systems are characterized with flexible joints. Exemplary this class of systems are the conveyers motors, the industrial robots and the cranes. The mechanical properties of those objects can be approximated by two-mass system. The paper presents the time-optimal input shaping methods for two-mass system. The control signal has to reach the set value of displacement in the shortest time, without of rising the mechanical oscillations. It was established, that the summary moment of inertia is constant, but division of mass is changing. For this case robustness for wide range of parameters deviations was analyzed. The model included PMSM motor with limited dynamics of current regulation. The research were conducted in Matlab/Simulink enviroment.

Many mechanical objects are characterized by flexible joint. This systems are represented by cranes, conveyers drives, robotic arms, aircraft turbines and others. Many of this objects can be approximated as multi-mass system or, in the simplest cases, two-mass systems. The two mass system is very convenient in tests because of many reasons. First of all it is easy to model and simulate. Additionally changes in parameters to obtain specific targets are easy to calculate and design. The paper shows three input shapers used to control the two-mass system with variable moments of inertia. It was assumed, that the sum of moments of inertia of both masses is constant. All input shapers are analyzed for robustness. The research was made in Matlab/Simulink environment.

Opis:
The paper deals with the steady-state response of a feedback control system to the canonical inputs. For its characterization it seems useful to introduce the notion of accuracy index mi beside the standard notion of loop type v. This index is assumed to be equal to the power of t in the analytic expression of the canonical input that leads to a finite nonzero deviation between the actual and the desired responses. When applied in the control design procedure, the accuracy index mi allows to achieve a steady-state performance that is more satisfactory than the one obtainable with reference to the loop type only. The conditions under which a single-loop feedback control system exhibits a prescribed value of mi, given the value of v, are derived and discussed with particular regard to their robustness.

The paper considers robustness aspects of adaptive control in application to sampled-data systems with poleplacement controller subject to plant-model mismatch, in the sense of mistuning to model parameters with respect to their „true” values. The paper extends the results presented in author’s previous work respecting comparison of sampled-data and discrete-time control systems to experimental results obtained from the control system of a servo drive. Firstly, the adaptive sampleddata controller is introduced and is applied by means of simulation, secondly, it is implemented in real-time control system to extend robust performance issues to realworld control systems. Finally, the regions of robust performance are shown on parameter surface, i.e. visualisation of parameters? span for which there is no severe performance degradation in comparison to the best plantmodel matching, as a function of sampling interval.

Opis:
Networks are the widest spreading system which Mankind has ever developed, today. New needs, services, and use are created each day where network systems represent the most critical aspect. Additionally, the interconnection between networks of different types is growing as never. This acceleration of interconnection of all sorts brings to the front scene the issue of performance measure in networks design and operation. For that purpose, engineers are orienting their major efforts towards the development of methods, models and codes to assess and measure networks performance in terms of probability of being connected. From this stand point of view, the engineers’ attention is mainly focused on defining the network “Connectivity” and measuring it, in different manner, using probabilities. Subsequently, we are observing an accelerating course towards quantitative probabilistic models to describe and assess networks’ Connectivity, since the sixties. Modelling realistic networks is still far from being satisfactorily achieved using quantitative probabilistic models. On the other hand, little room has been lift to exploring the potential of graphical and topological models to develop qualitative and semi- quantitative models in order to assess networks performance. In this paper, we have tried to explore the potential of the topological modelling and are proposing an original one. The proposed model is still in its earliest phase of development. But, it sounds very promoting at that stage of maturation. According to this model, the term “performance” may be extended, beyond the “connectivity probabilistic concept”, to “robustness” and to a “deepest insight” of the “connectivity concept” itself. The impact is immediate on the way the “reliability concept” would be extended to cover network systems.

In this paper, we explore the relationship between the topological characteristics of a complex network and its robustness to sustained targeted attacks. Using synthesised scale-free, small-world and random networks, we look at a number of network measures, including assortativity, modularity, average path length, clustering coefficient, rich club profiles and scale-free exponent (where applicable) of a network, and how each of these influence the robustness of a network under targeted attacks. We use an established robustness coefficient to measure topological robustness, and consider sustained targeted attacks by order of node degree. With respect to scale-free networks, we show that assortativity, modularity and average path length have a positive correlation with network robustness, whereas clustering coefficient has a negative correlation. We did not find any correlation between scale-free exponent and robustness, or rich-club profiles and robustness. The robustness of small-world networks on the other hand, show substantial positive correlations with assortativity, modularity, clustering coefficient and average path length. In comparison, the robustness of Erdos-Renyi random networks did not have any significant correlation with any of the network properties considered. A significant observation is that high clustering decreases topological robustness in scale-free networks, yet it increases topological robustness in small-world networks. Our results highlight the importance of topological characteristics in influencing network robustness, and illustrate design strategies network designers can use to increase the robustness of scale-free and small-world networks under sustained targeted attacks.

A microgrid is an appropriate concept for urban areas with high penetration of renewable power generation, which improves the reliability and efficiency of the distribution network at the consumer premises to meet various loads such as domestic, industrial, and agricultural types. Microgrids comprising inverter-based and synchronous generator-based distribution generators can lead to the instability of the system during the islanded mode of operation. This paper presents a study on designing stable microgrids to facilitate higher penetration of solar power generation into a distribution network. A generalized small signal model is derived for a microgrid with static loads, dynamic loads, energy storages, solar photovoltaic (PV) systems, and diesel generators, incorporating the features of dynamic systems. The model is validated by comparing the transient curves given by the model and a transient simulator subjected to step changes. The result shows that full dynamic models of complex systems of microgrids can be built accurately, and the proposed microgrid is stable for all the considered loading situations and solar PV penetration levels according to the small signal stability analysis.

Opis:
This paper presents an enhanced internal model control (EIMC) scheme for a time-delayed second order unstable process, which is subjected to exogenous disturbance and model variations. Even though the conventional internal model control (IMC) can provide an asymptotic tracking response with desired stability margins, the major limitation of conventional IMC is that it cannot be applied for an unstable system because a small exogenous disturbance can trigger the control signal to grow unbounded. Hence, modifying the conventional IMC structure to guarantee the internal stability, we present an EIMC scheme which can offer better trade-off between setpoint tracking and disturbance rejection characteristics. To improve the load disturbance rejection characteristics and attenuate the effect of sensor noise, we solve the selection of controller gains as an H∞ optimization problem. One of the key aspects of the EIMC scheme is that the robustness of the closed loop system can be tuned via a single tuning parameter. The performance of the EIMC scheme is experimentally assessed on a magnetic levitation plant for reference tracking application. Experimental results substantiate that the EIMC scheme can effectively counteract the inherent time delay in the model and offer precise tracking, even in the presence of exogenous disturbance. Moreover, by comparing the trajectory tracking performance of EIMC with that of the proportional integral velocity (PIV) controller through cumulative power spectral density (CPSD) of the tracking error, we show that the EIMC can offer better low frequency servo response with minimal vibrations.
