Georgi Skalon - Opis:
- German consulate in Warsaw has keenly observed the course of the 1905–1907 revolution in Poland. German diplomats have emphasized the national character of the events they described. Their particular concern was the possibility that Russia would allow the autonomy of the Kingdom of Poland and make concessions with respect to Polish language in schools, as this could potentially encourage Polish subjects of emperor Wilhelm II to make similar demands. German diplomats have spoken in favour of a hard and firm approach of Russian authorities to Polish national movement and demonstrations of social nature. They observed with concern the anti-German resentments, fomented by Russian authorities, among Polish subjects of the tsar. As regards detailed aspects, they dealt, inter alia, with the case of Marcin Kasprzak, formally a German subject and member of Polish Socialist Party (PPS). He was apprehended by Russian authorities, sentenced to death and executed in September 1905 for homicide, armed resistance against the authorities and an attempt to overthrow the system.
