The author presents the achievements of interventionist journalism, based on reportage produced by regional stations of Polish National Television (TVP). The article contains three examples of topics addressed: the problems faced by a facility for handicapped children and a sport club for the unemployed, and a political conflict concerning the financing of a bridge in a small village. All of these examples demonstrate the broad thematic variety and competence of the station’s journalists – nearly all of their interventions were effective.

Wskazuje na nierozerwalne powiązania teorii z procesem twórczym oraz efekty, jakie przyniosła postawa autora. Pracę dopełnia zaprezentowanie odbioru postaci M. Wańkowicza przez krytyków.
The main aim of the article is to present Melchior Wańkowicz’s theory of reportage, including related techniques, such as: mosaic-technique, crossing the line between non-fiction and fiction, stylistic aspects. The analysis emphasizes creative self-awareness of the writer, shows the process of forming and putting theory into practice. The article indicates an unbreakable link between theory and the creative process of Melchior Wańkowicz. The paper concludes with a presentation of the critic’s reception of author’s work.

The article discusses the volume of reports by Ewa Winnicka. The author of the article examines the contact between two different (Polish and British) cultures, both deeply rooted in different traditions and entangled by evident stereotypes. The reason for such cultural interference is, that Polish emigration to Great Britain is facetiously described by the author as ‘the invasion of the colonizers’. Winnicka’s narrative strategy enables readers to observe localinhabitants as well as Polish migrants who have different experiences and attitudes. This ‘unsymmetrical dialogue’ reveals that, a ‘colonizer’ as a stranger must always lose, because he exists in between his native community (that he does not belong to anymore) and the new one (that he aspires to, trying to prove that he is worth being accepted).

Reportaż w Polsce osiągnął wyjątkowy status. Poważne analizy twórczości reportażystów z perspektywy literackiej najczęściej są jednak skupione na twórczości Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego czy Hanny Krall, natomiast te dotyczące przedstawicieli nowej szkoły polskiego reportażu przybierają co  najwyżej formę szkiców. Dziwi zwlaszcza brak właściwego omówienia twórczości Małgorzaty Szejnert, osoby niezwykle zasłużonej dla polskiego reportażu. Jej ostanie książki Czarny ogród, Wyspa klucz, Dom żółwia. Zanzibar i Usypać góry. Historie z Polesia nie są tylko dziełami literackimi, ale stanowią istotny wkład do innych dyscyplin. W wyniku szczegółowej analizy Czarnego ogrodu (Genologia; Reportaż historyczny a historiografia; Czarny ogród a antropologia; Poetyka Czarnego ogrodu; Tożsamość; Geopoetyka; Zakończenie) autorka artykułu stwierdza, że Małgorzata Szejnert uprawia właściwie historiografię, aczkolwiek zasadne jest poza tym stwierdzenie, że jej reportaże są również formą etnografii, spełniają bowiem wszystkie kryteria wymieniane przez Clifforda Geertza. Opisy poszczególnych społeczności są wyczerpujące, poruszają wiele aspektów codzienności i przybliżają realia życia, a przez to ułatwiają czytelnikom zrozumienie innych wspólnot.
Reportage in Poland has achieved a unique status. Serious analyzes of this kind of creativity from the literary perspective are, however, mostly focused on the work of Ryszard Kapuściński or Hanna Krall, while those concerning the representatives of the new school of Polish reportage take at most the form of sketches. Surprisingly, there is a lack of proper discussion on the work of Małgorzata Szejnert, a person of great merit for Polish reportage. Her last books: Czarny ogród (“Black Garden”), Wyspa klucz (“Key Island), Dom żółwia. Zanzibar (“Turtle’s House: Zanzibar”) i Usypać góry. Historie z Polesia (“Dump Mountains: Stories from Polesie”) are not only literary works, but they are an important contribution to other disciplines. As a result of a detailed analysis of the “Black Garden” (Genology; Historical reportage and historiography; “Black Garden” and anthropology; The Poetics of the “Black Garden”; Identity; Geopoetics; Conclusion), the author of the paper states that practically the reportages by Małgorzata Szejnert are historiography, although it is also reasonable to say that these reportages are also a form of ethnography, because they meet all criteria mentioned by Clifford Geertz. The descriptions of individual communities are comprehensive, they cover many aspects of everyday life and bring the realities of life closer together, and thus help readers to understand other communities.

The article discusses a reportage by Karolina Bednarz entitled Kwiaty w pudełku. Japonia oczami kobiet [Flowers in a Box. Japan Seen by Women]. The Bednarz’s intellectual pedigree as a representative of the Polish School of Reportage’s young generation is presented along with the prominence and weightiness of this tradition for Polish non-fiction writing. It is shown how Bednarz deconstructs the stereotypical image of Japan as modern and liberal state by pointing to social inequalities and legal regulations discriminatory against women. At the same time, the factual layer of the book is praised along with the author’s empathy while conducting interviews with her female interviewees, yet what is criticised is the hardly sufficient emphasis put on the eponymous leitmotif, that is, the flowers in a box.

The article presents the outcome of an analysis of archival volumes of the periodical „Rocznik Literacki” (1932-1984), publishing annually general overviews of Polish literature. The text aims at tracing back the perception of the reportage and the prevailing convinctions on its definition and borders. Essays written by prominent Polish critics and scholars show the evolution of the genre and its theory. A recurring issue is the problem of literary techniques possible (or, in some opinions, forbidden) in the reportage.

The article is an attempt to enter scientific reflection relating to radio reportage in the field of sound studies, especially in one of its original elements — the theory of soundscape created by Raymond Murray Schafer in the 1960s. It starts with the basic terminological solutions in the field of soundscape and the audial form of reportage, then juxtaposes them with each other and indicates the possibilities of their mutual penetration in both scientific and media fields. It presents the common features of a radio documentary and a soundscape, e.g. focus on reality, attention to sound, specific narration, the use of the oral history method etc. This paper also shows the difference between these two forms such as a greater level of creativity in the case of reportage in combination with the “raw” naturalness of the soundscape. It also highlights how the idea of acoustic ecology can use radio reportage to disseminate its assumptions. Finally, it postulates the inclusion of this audio genre as an element of the soundscape to a harmonious hi-fi space and considers as justified to set together the experiences of both the discussed phenomena on theoretical as well as practical grounds, and to continue the reflection as sketched out in this article.

W niniejszym artykule omówiona została reportażowa saga rodzinna – gatunek będący połączeniem dziennikarskiej sprawozdawczości z pamięciową narracją. Przedmiotem analiz uczyniono książki Fałszerze pieprzu Moniki Sznajderman oraz Dom z dwiema wieżami Macieja Zaremby Bielawskiego. Tomy te są przykładem osobliwego nurt pisarstwa non-fiction opierającego się na reporterskiej rekonstrukcji i osobistym zaangażowaniu autora. Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie reportażowej sagi rodzinnej jako struktury łączącej w sobie elementy powieści rodzinnej, autobiografii, eseju oraz reportażu. Jej cechą charakterystyczną jest dokonywana przez piszącego eksploracja przeszłości, do której dostęp zapośredniczony został poprzez dziennikarskie i pozadziennikarskie źródła informacji.
This article discusses the reportage family saga – a genre that combines journalistic reporting with memory narrative. In my research I focused on two books: Fałszerze pieprzu by Monika Sznajderman and Dom z dwiema wieżami by Maciej Zaremba Bielawski. These books can be treated as examples of an autobiographical trend visible in the field of non-fiction writing. Both are based on the reporter’s reconstruction and personal involvement of the author. The aim of the article is to present the reportage family saga as a complex structure combining elements of a family novel, autobiography, essay and reportage. The writer explores the past events and gains the access to them using journalistic and non-journalistic sources of information.

This article is about the reception of Kapuściński’s book Another Day of Life which was translated and published in Macedonia in 2017. This text explains the reasons of the delayed translation of Kapuściński’s book and the social environmentsurrounding its reception, as well as the reception of the reportage as a literary genre in Macedonia. Those are part of the reasons why this literary master has passed by almost unnoticed in this culture and his works are pushed aside from the main literary streams. The article also deals with translating problems concerning the alienation / otherness and the way foreign realities are transferred from Polish to Macedonian language.

Artykuł ma na celu ukazanie zbieżności postulatów Laboratorium Reportażu (LR) z koncepcją polifonii autorstwa Michaiła Bachtina. Jakkolwiek LR nie ma jeszcze na koncie publikacji w pełni polifonicznej, nie oznacza to, że nie dąży do takiego ideału. Zdaniem autora artykułu Marek Miller, twórca LR i główny teoretyk polifonicznej powieści reportażowej, słusznie odwołuje się do myśli rosyjskiego fi lozofa, dla którego powieść miała wymiar polityczny: była dialogiem przeciwstawionym każdemu typowi metanarracji.
The paper discusses the theoretical relations between Reportage Laboratory (RL) and the vision of polyphony by Mikhail Bakhtin. Although Reportage Laboratory has not yet produced work that could be labelled as polyphonic, it does not mean this is not possible. This paper argues that Marek Miller, RL creator and principle polyphony reportage novel theorist, is right when associating the RL in line with the thoughts of the Russian philosopher. According to Bakhtin the polyphonic novel has its political dimension, understood as a dialogue contraposed to all types of meta-narratives.

The article analyses the relation between the process of media convergence and hybridization of contemporary reportage. The integration of old and new media in a single journalistic report of hybrid character is being analysed here. The author presents this phenomenon using Dzienniki kołymskie by J. Hugo-Bader as an example. It is a work which oscillates between travel diary and travel reportage, it was first published in sections on an Internet press portal. Additionally, the specific character of multimedia journalism and the poetics of digital reportages are commented on in the article.
