    The author of the paper shows how one may reflect on the essence of human rights, through the lens of reporters’ stories, including in particular Ben Rawlence’s book City of Thorns: Nine Lives in the World’s Largest Refugee Camp. The paper encourages one to listen to the voice of refugees and to develop an in-terest in their lives in order to understand how they define their rights, what they derive them from, and how they judge their observance by the interna-tional community. In fact, these deliberations are connected with a problem which is important for contemporary education, namely how to shape a genu-inely humanistic attitude among young Poles towards people from different cultures, who are additionally forced to leave their homes.

    Autorka omawia reportaż Hanny Krall w perspektywie jego obecności w szkolnej dydaktyce języka polskiego (usunięcie z listy lektur, powrót ta nią, obecność w arkuszach maturalnych). Uważa go za książkę ratunkową: to jedna z niewielu lektur aktywujących uczniowską emergencję. Wskazuje także na tropy możliwe do podjęcia podczas zajęć języka polskiego w szkole ponadpodstawowej.
    The author discusses Hanna Krall’s reportage in the light of its presence in the school didactics of the Polish language (removal from the reading list, its return, presence in the matura exam sheets). She considers a power of the book: it is one of the few readings that activates students emergence. With this on mind she also points to the paths that can be taken during Polish language classes in a secondary school.

    Niewidzialność przekazu radiowego implikuje dodatkowe wrażenia o charakterze innym niż audialny. Dzieło foniczne, w tym także reportaż radiowy, pobudza nie tylko słuch, ale przede wszystkim wyobraźnię dźwiękową odbiorcy. O sukcesie artystycznego przekazu radiowego można mówić tylko w sytuacji, gdy percepcji słuchowej towarzyszyć będą obrazy skojarzeniowe. Są one niezbędne do odczytania przekazu i właściwej identyfikacji postaci. W artykule zaprezentowano różne sposoby dźwiękowej prezentacji bohaterów. Foniczne oznaczenie postaci może odbyć się poprzez wykorzystanie wypowiedzi innych uczestników reportażu, a także poprzez wypowiedź reportera. Autor może również dokonać formalnej prezentacji, wykorzystując przy tym techniki typowe dla dziennikarstwa informacyjnego lub uciekając się do stylizacji, podporządkowując konwencji identyfikację bohatera. Najczęściej jednak uczestnicy reportażu pozostają anonimowi, dookreślani poprzez okoliczności towarzyszące.
    Apart from auditory impressions, the invisibility of radio messages implies additional stimuli. Phonic works, radio reportages included, stimulate not only the sense of hearing, but also the auditory imagination of their audiences. An artistic radio message may be perceived as successful only if the auditory perception is accompanied by associative images. They are essential for the proper comprehension of messages and identification of characters. The article presents various forms of auditory presentation of characters. Particular individuals may be phonically designated in the utterances made by other people depicted in the reportage, as well as by the reportage makers themselves. The author can also present them formally, using techniques typical for news journalism, or through the use of style, by subjecting the identification proces to the convention. Most often however, the characters remain anonymous and are specified only by the accompanying events.

    The paper addresses the issue of refugees in the broad sense of the term, i.e. people forced to leave their homes and seek conditions for a normal life due to climate change and to the excessive environment footprint left by humans. The numerous reasons for this type of displacement include drought, the grow-ing scarcity of natural resources in seas and oceans, and the unfair distribution of water. These three climate plagues are analysed on the basis of non¬ fiction literature – Wykluczeni [The Excluded], which is a book of reportage by Artur Domosławski, Ben Rawlence’s City of Thorns. Nine Lives in the World’s Largest Refu-gee Camp, and Stefano Liberti’s South of Lampedusa. In the public consciousness, migrations motivated by climate change and human interference in the ecosys-tem have been functioning since recently, but they will actually become the greatest challenge of our day and age. This is why the important role played by humanities is to speak about them, to comment on their performative power, to debate on potential solutions, and to trigger warning discourses leading to the development of a habit of imagining “scenarios for the future”. Acts of imagi-nation provide the possibility to shape the world in an unlimited way and to play out in a virtual manner some key social, cultural and political situations, in order to live well on an overcrowded planet, where water, land and food may be lacking a few decades from now.

    Artykuł stanowi próbę spojrzenia na sposób funkcjonowania polskich szkół  w dwudziestoleciu międzywojennym we wschodnich terenach II Rzeczypospolitej: na Polesiu i na Wołyniu. Ugruntowane,  również w literaturze, wyobrażenia  kazały widzieć w mieszkańcach tych regionów ludzi, którzy w porównaniu do mieszkańców innych ziem Polski byli opóźnieni cywilizacyjnie.  Dlatego po 1918 roku ogromną wagę przykładano do rozwoju szkolnictwa. We wschodnich województwach szkoły pełniły nie tylko funkcje edukacyjne, były również traktowane jako instytucje państwowe wypełniające np. zadania informacyjne czy propagandowe. Sytuacja nauczycieli w takiej szkole była trudna i bardzo skomplikowana, również ze względu na skład etniczny, czy narodowościowy uczonych przez nich dzieci. Ksawery Pruszyński w reportażu pt. „Prawo do Wołynia”  wskazuje, że nie wszystkie efekty ich pracy były zadowalające.
    The article attempts to analyze the functioning of Polish schools in the interwar period in the eastern regions of the Second Polish Republic. The common stereotypes, rooted also in literature, projected a popular image of backwardness, in comparison with the population from other parts of Poland. For that reason, education was determined as a high priority after 1918. The schools in eastern regions, beside performing their educational function, also disseminated information and political propaganda. The teaching conditions in such schools were also complex, given the national and ethnic composition of children. Ksawery Pruszyński in his reportage Prawo do Wołynia demonstrates that not all efforts were equally satisfactory.

    The theme of this article is The Rye in the Jungle – reportage of Zbigniew Uniłowski. After presenting some reactions from critics, and literary and social context of the creation of the reportage, I made the interpretation of the text. Uniłowski, by the ostentatious presentation of the boredom of travel, opposes the convention of the exotic, travel reportage. Moreover, he very often presents the subjectivity and uncertainty of his knowledge. As a results, he takes a discussion with the nonfiction narrative.
    Tematem niniejszego artykułu jest Żyto w dżungli – reportaż Zbigniewa Uniłowskiego. Po przedstawieniu reakcji krytyki oraz kontekstu literacko-społeczego powstania reportażu dokonywana jest interpretacja tekstu. Uniłowski, poprzez manifestacyjne przedstawienie nudy podróży, przeciwstawia się konwencji egzotycznego podróżopisarstwa, co więcej, wielokrotnie prezentuje subiektywizm i niepewność swojego poznania reporterskiego, podejmując dyskusję z obiektywną narracją faktograficzną.

    'Wszystkie zajęcia Yoirysa Manuela' [All occupations of Yoirys Manuel] by Adam Kwaśny (2017) is a collection of stories about the inhabitants of the city of Trinidad in Cuba, which can be read as an attempt to look for a new approach in the travel literature and reportage writing. By the use of the techniques typical for magical realism and non-fiction literature at the same time, the work shows the reality of the city from the perspective of its inhabitants, or more precisely: from the perspective of a narrator coming from the outside world, but sharing the beliefs and worldview of the described people.

    Celem artykułu jest omówienie różnic oraz podobieństw pomiędzy reportażami z okresu Października 1956 a reportażami Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego z tomu Busz po polsku. Autor charakteryzuje dwa podobieństwa: przekonanie o poznawczej wartości reporterskich podróży na prowincję oraz wiarę we władzę reportera, zdolnego interweniować w rzeczywistość. Listę różnic tworzą: brak postawy oskarżycielskiej oraz rewindykacyjnej, skupienie na prywatnych losach pojedynczych ludzi, doświadczonych przez historię, pokazywanie zacofania prowincji jako problemu cywilizacyjnego, a nie politycznego.
    The aim of the article is to discuss the differences and similarities between the reportages from the period of October 1956 and the reportages of Ryszard Kapuściński from the volume Busz po polsku. The works share the following similarities: the conviction of the cognitive value of reporter’s journeys to the province and the belief in the reporter’s power to intervene in the reality. The list of differences, on the other hand, includes: the absence of blame and revindication, the emphasis put on the private fates of individuals, and the assumption that the provincial backwardness is a civilizational problem, not a political one.

    The monthly Kultura published by Jerzy Giedroyc in Paris from 1947 had a significant, opinion-making influence on Polish intellectual and cultural life. In the 1990s, last decade of its history, Kultura opened its pages to reportage, a peculiar genre of reports blending first-hand reporting and reflection. This article examines those reportages in their role of multifaceted mirrors showing the individual at a time of the great transformation that began in 1989.
    „Kultura” wydawana przez Jerzego Giedroycia w latach 1947–2000 odgrywała dużą rolę w kształtowaniu postaw społeczeństwa polskiego. Formuła reportażu oferuje wiarygodny sposób przedstawienia rzeczywistości i przestrzeń do refleksji. W artykule uwagę badawczą skoncentrowano na reportażach publikowanych w ostatniej dekadzie wydawania pisma, co pozwoliło w sposób wielopłaszczyznowy ukazać m.in. jednostkę w obliczu zmiany.
