Opis:
The objective of the article is to present the practical application of the failure mode and effects analysis in quality management for chosen production process. The first part of the analysis contains the theoretical framework of management, quality, quality management and characteristic of the FMEA method: history, aims, usefulness of application, course, and advantages. Afterwards, the FMEA method’s practical application in analysis of the chosen problem: causes of low quality of milk chocolate has been presented.
Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie praktycznego zastosowania metody FMEA w zarządzaniu jakością wybranego procesu produkcyjnego. Pierwsza część opracowania zawiera definicję zarządzania oraz historię jakości i zarządzania jakością, a także charakterystykę metody FMEA: historię, cele, przydatność stosowania, przebieg oraz zalety wykorzystania. Następnie, przedstawione zostało praktyczne zastosowanie metody FMEA w analizie wybranego problemu: przyczyn niskiej jakości produktu – czekolady mlecznej.

The publication analyses the way of managing and improving the quality of the production process of aluminum pistons for internal combustion engines. The aim of the article is to propose a method of analysis of the effectiveness of individual control methods used in the process of controlling the aluminium piston. Thanks to the location of a control point with the highest share of product non-compliance detection in the production process, it is possible to reduce quality control points by less effective points, which will contribute to lower costs or shorten the time of production processes. In view of the increasing demands on the efficiency of the checkpoints for components in internal combustion engines, the issue is important and topical.

The concept of Lean Manufacturing (or Lean Production) is widely present in the quality management systems of the best factories. Foundry plants in Poland have continuously been implementing modern management tools; however, the experiences of the authors show that the usage of lean tools is at a lower level in domestic foundries than in similar plants abroad. This was the reason why a survey was prepared and over 300 foundry plants were questioned regarding the application of Lean Manufacturing tools. The questions (20 in total) asked if and what tools are implemented in the plant and what benefits have been achieved, or why lean tools have not been implemented in a particular plant. The answers were thoroughly analysed and the results show that, among others, only 29% of all foundries use lean tools, and the main reason why most of them do not is that these tools are not understood well enough.
Koncepcja Lean Manufacturing (lub Lean Production) obecna jest szeroko w systemach zarządzania wiodących zakładów przemysłowych. W odlewnictwie, w tym polskim, również widoczny jest stały postęp we wdrażaniu nowoczesnych narzędzi zarządzania. Jednak doświadczenia autorów wskazują, że w aspekcie zastosowania narzędzi lean, polskie odlewnie odstają jednak od zagranicznych. Te spostrzeżenia były powodem podjęcia badań, ankietowych skierowanych do krajowych odlewni (ponad 300). Pytania (łącznie 20) dotyczyły głównie zagadnień, czy i jakie narzędzia lean są wykorzystywane w zakładzie, jakie są korzyści z ich stosowania lub też dlaczego takich narzędzi nie wdrożono. Odpowiedzi zostały starannie przeanalizowane a wyniki wskazują między innymi, że zaledwie 29% odlewni stosuje jakiekolwiek narzędzia lean a najczęstszym powodem ich niestosowania jest niewystarczające zrozumienie.

W pracy pokazany został przykład wykorzystania tradycyjnego narzędzia zarządzania jakością jakim jest Diagram Pareto-Lorenza w przedsiębiorstwie kaletniczym. Metoda ta wykorzystana została do analizy dwóch okresów tj. wprowadzenie wyrobu kaletniczego na rynek oraz drugiego okresu jakim jest spadek sprzedaży tego wyrobu. Diagram Pareto- Lorenza pomógł zidentyfikować występujące najczęściej przyczyny niezgodności.
The paper presents an example of the use of a traditional quality management tool, the Pareto-Lorenz Diagram in a leather company. This method has been used to analyze the two periods, i.e. the introduction of a leather product on the market and the second period of the decline in sales of this product. The Pareto-Lorenz Diagram helped identify the most common causes of nonconformity.

Materiał i metody: Materiał bazuje na literaturze przedmiotu. Zastosowano metodę analizy i konstrukcji logicznej. Wyniki: W pracy przedstawiono znaczenie, istotę i zarządzanie jakością oraz model instrumentów doskonalenia jakości procesów produkcyjnych w warunkach logistyki globalnej. W części teoretycznej pracy podjęto rozważania na temat znaczenia i istoty jakości w procesach produkcyjnych, a także wyzwań jakie niesie logistyka globalna dla zapewnienia wysokiej jakości procesów produkcyjnych współczesnego przedsiębiorstwa. W części analityczno-koncepcyjnej opracowano model instrumentów doskonalenia jakości procesów produkcyjnych, wskazując na znaczenie wdrożenia systemu zarządzania jakością w warunkach silnej konkurencji i globalnej logistyki. Przyjęto założenie wynikające z istoty systemu zarządzania jakością, iż wdrożenie i efektywne funkcjonowanie systemu zarządzania jakością i jego doskonalenie poprzez implementację właściwych (ujętych w opracowanym modelu) instrumentów doskonalenia procesów produkcyjnych realizowanych w długim okresie czasu przyczyni się do wzrostu pozycji konkurencyjnej poprzez wzrost jakości produktów przedsiębiorstwa na globalnym rynku. Wniosek: System zarządzania jakością i jego narzędzia doskonalenia w procesie produkcyjnym w warunkach logistyki globalnej to skuteczne narządzie nadzorowania jakości produktów w całym ciągu technologicznym procesu produkcyjnego, który pozwala na zmniejszenie braków wewnętrznych i reklamacji oraz wzrostu zamówień klientów.
Introduction and aim: Logistics the XXI century is a great challenge to ensure the quality of production processes, not only because of the increasing complexity, but mainly because of the necessity to find new, innovative solutions that will meet the expectations and requirements of each customer today. Therefore the aim of the work is to present the meaning and essence of quality management and model of instruments in the improvement of production processes of each modern company. Material and methods: The material is based on the literature. Method of analysis and logical construction has been used. Results: The study presented the importance and essence of the quality management and model of instruments to improve the quality of production processes in the terms of global logistics. In the theoretical part of the work considered about the importance and essence of quality in production processes, as well as the challenges of global logistics to ensure high-quality production processes of the modern enterprise. In the analytical and conceptual part was developed a model of instruments to improve the quality of production processes, pointing to the importance of implementing a quality management system in the highly competitive and global logistics. It was assumed resulting from the essence of a quality management system that the implementation and effective functioning of the quality management system and its improvement by the implementation of appropriate (included in the developed model) instruments to improve production processes carried out in a long period of time will contribute to growth the competitive position by increasing the quality of products the company at the global market. Conclusion: Quality Management Systems and its tools for the improvement in the production process in the conditions of global logistics is a effective tool for supervising the quality of products throughout technological line production process, which allows to reduce the internal shortcomings and complaints and growth the number of customer orders.

This paper presents the importance of the nature and quality management and the model instruments to improve the quality of production processes in the conditions of global logistics. In the theoretical part of the article we present considerations on the meaning and essence of quality in production processes, as well as the challenges posed by global logistics to ensure high-quality production processes of the modern enterprise. The conceptual and analytical part of the paper has been developed the model consists of instruments to improve the quality of production processes, pointing to the importance of implementing a quality management system in the highly competitive and global logistics. Assumption is based on the essence of a quality management system that the implementation and effective functioning of the quality management system and its improvement through the implementation of appropriate (included in the developed model) instruments to improve production processes realized in the long term will contribute to improve the competitive position by increasing the quality of products the company on the global market. Thus, the aim of this work is to present the meaning and essence of quality management and the model instruments in the improvement of production processes of every modern company.

The objective of the article is to present the practical application of the Pareto diagram in quality management for chosen production process. The first part of the analysis contains the theoretical framework of quality and characteristic of the Pareto diagram: the history of Pareto principle, purposefulness of use, areas of application, the stages of creating Pareto-Lorenz diagram, relationship of the diagram with the ABC method and its advantages. Afterwards, the Pareto-Lorenz diagram with ABC method’s practical application in analysis of the chosen problem: causes of low quality of milk chocolate has been presented.

The aim of this article is to show the use of the analysis of the failure causes and effects as a prevention tool in controlling the quality of a given production process in the company. The scope of the work covers an analysis of a selected process, definition of inconsistencies present in this process, and then the FMEA analysis. In the production company one should implement thinking and actions based on the so-called ‘quality loop’ – it is an interdependence model of the undertaken actions which affect the quality shaping. It is carried out from the possibility for identifying a customer’s requirements through a project, production process, up to the assessment of effective capability for meeting the defined requirements. The application of such an approach enables to take the actions improving the operation of quality management in a systemic way.

Purpose: The goal of the paper is to analyses process of implementation and effectiveness of 5S method in an industrial enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: Critical literature analysis, questionnaire analysis, case study analysis. Findings: On the example of industrial organization that was in the presented paper an analysis of effectiveness of 5S implementation. On the basis of conducted analysis the main objectives of using 5S are: order in the workplace, maintenance of cleanliness and efficiency of machines and devices, shorter duration of activities. The main causes of problems with 5S implementation are connected with no time to do the work and lack of funds. The overall rating of efficiency of 5S method in analyzed enterprise is very good. Originality/value: Detailed analysis of main objectives of using 5S method and the main causes of problems with it in the industrial enterprise.

In the paper there was presented the role and importance of choosing appropriate quality management methods in making decisions on implementing corrective actions on the example of a selected metallurgical company. There was presented application of the results of production process improving methods, such as 5 Why and FMEA, to indicate corrective actions. Moreover, it was analyzed whether, after introducing these activities, it was possible to eliminate or limit defects in the production process. For this purpose, the level of the RPN index was recalculated - after the changes were introduced. Furthermore, the costs of defects before and after the introduction of corrective actions were estimated.

Opis:
The paper presents issues of quality management related to iron casts manufactured on automated foundry lines for automobile industry. The influence of the choice of electric furnace and automated foundry line with vertical or horizontal mould division on the quality of casts made of nodular or grey cast iron was presented. Analysis of different scenarios of the course of action manufacturing processes was performed basing on a simulation experiment, record data related to the quality of the manufactured casts and manufacturing prime costs analysis. The research used universal tools applied in simulation analysis of production systems (Rockwell Automation: Arena Simulation Software) and a spreadsheet used for cast manufacture cost estimation. The proposed variants have been assessed using the Pareto analysis on the basis of results of reports generated for a simulation experiment. The paper also presents suggestions of activities aimed at further improvement of the quality of foundry processes.

Purpose: The article concerns the analysis of the applicable normative requirements in the field of product quality planning in the process of approving parts for production. Design/methodology/approach: The analysis, in particular, concerns the correlation of appropriate methods and quality management tools in the quality planning process. Findings: Correct use of quality planning tools in product and process development determines the effectiveness of implementing individual phases of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning). Research limitations/implications: It is important that the organisation skilfully and consciously uses the quality tools required by APQP; they usually require multiple uses during the project implementation time, which depends on the specificity of a particular project. Practical implications: The study presents how core quality planning tools are related, proving that they cannot be treated as an individual tool, but only their correct use can protect the project/organisation against nonconformities or misunderstandings between the supplier and the customer. Originality/value: The study's originality and novelty show the relations and dependence between APQP phases and core quality tools/evidence developed in the PPAP (Production Part Approval Process), according to PPAP level 3. The article presents a practical approach to the use or multiuse of particular core quality planning tools according to APQP phases.

Optymalizacja procesów produkcyjnych i osiąganie oczekiwanych efektów ich realizacji stanowi ważny aspekt w obecnym zarządzaniu przedsiębiorstwem. Wdrożenie odpowiedniego instrumentarium z zakresu optymalizacji procesów jakościowych wpływa z pewnością na poprawę procesów produkcyjnych w przedsiębiorstwach z branży motoryzacyjnej oraz zwiększa ich konkurencyjność. Celem niniejszego artykułu jest analiza procesu naprawy blacharsko-lakierniczej w wybranym przedsiębiorstwie z uwzględnieniem narzędzi i metod jego optymalizacji.
Optimization of production processes and achieving the expected effects of their implementation is an important aspect in the current management of the company. The implementation of appropriate instruments in the field of optimization of quality processes certainly affects the improvement of production processes in enterprises from the automotive industry and increases their competitiveness. The purpose of this article is therefore to analyze the body and paint repair process in a selected company, including the tools and methods of its optimization.

Opis:
W pracy przedstawiono obligatoryjne i nieobligatoryjne systemy zarządzania jakością (SZJ), stosowane w produkcji i przetwórstwie surowców rolniczych. Począwszy od wyjaśnienia istoty jakości i bezpieczeństwa produktów rolniczych, w sposób ogólny opisano główne idee poszczególnych standardów. Ponadto przedstawiono czynniki, wpływające na decyzje związane z wdrażaniem SZJ, uwzględniając pozytywne aspekty ich funkcjonowania i bariery w ich wdrażaniu. Najważniejszymi korzyściami z wdrożenia SZJ jest sprostanie wymogom prawnym, zaspokojenie potrzeby głównych klientów i pozyskanie nowych, poprawa jakości produktów i uzyskanie rekomendacji organizacji handlowych. Najpoważniejszymi zaś barierami są wysokie koszty jednostkowe, ponoszone na początku wdrażania standardów, potrzeba szkoleń oraz brak doradztwa w tym zakresie.
Paper presented obligatory and non-obligatory quality management systems (QMS), used in production and processing of agricultural products. Beginning from explanation of the quality essence and the safety of agricultural products, the main ideas of particular standards were described in general way. Moreover, the factors affecting decisions connected with the QMS implementation were presented, considering positive aspects of their functioning and the barriers in their introduction. The most important advantages resulted from the QMS implementation consist in coping with the legal requirements, satisfying the demands of principal customers and acquiring the new ones, improving the quality of products and getting the recommendations from commercial organizations. However, the most serious barriers include high unit costs born at the beginning of standards' implementation, the need of instruction courses and a lack of advisors in this particular field.
