    This paper focuses on the analysis of selected risks as part of investments in the power engineering at the initial (tender) stage of the life cycle in the context of the method of project management by the Contractor. The study was carried out on the basis of an analysis of over 500 tenders in the power engineering, from the last 5 years, taking into account future forecast data. The analysis carried out in this article was aimed at achieving specific and unique goals and results aimed at creating a useful product, which is the Contractor’s offer in the power engineering, taking into account the most significant risks. The result of this article is to support the project team in implementing risk management in the project at the tender stage. For this purpose, the risks with their basic parameters were defined, which allowed for the development of a risk matrix taking into account the data obtained in the tender procedures of leading electric power distributors. Based on the proposed risk quantification criteria, a list of remedial actions was prepared for all risk types listed in this article. In addition, the aspects of possible elimination/reduction of the impact of the most significant risks that occur at the analyzed stage of the investment life cycle were developed.

    The process of software development has become so dynamic that it nowadays requires more and more supporting tools. An organization which intends to have such tools implemented must take into account its possible future needs. Complex solutions usually offer greater variety of available options and functionalities but are costly to implement. This paper presents some models o IT project management together with the supporting software. Owing to applying the resource management policy at the stage of production and implementation one may assess the risk and identify potential threats. The discussed issues may shed some light on potential difficulties occurring at the particular stages of software production management whereas the conclusions may help people in charge choose the best model, including its implementation strategy. The first model are dedicated tools created from scratch and often preceded by the analysis of the existing solutions and the needs of the company and the customers. The second is to seek from the very beginning multifunction and complex tools for the big or well-developed IT systems providers. This article is to present the models regarding the IT project management (together with the related supporting tools) which are applied in the IT companies involved in providing the foreign customers with the bases of knowledge. On the basis of the experience gained while designing and developing dedicated software (by means of the above-mentioned tools) and its implementation one drew some conclusions concerning e.g., risk assessment; potential threats at every stage of the project lifecycle; improvement of the quality and production time of the software; reduction of the number of errors; improvement of the internal communication within the project team (it is the first step in the development of the design patterns). The patterns should help the managers choose the proper management model and related tools for the implementation and particular project tasks.

    In this article we examine the dynamics of Mergers and Acquisitions (M&A) from the perspective of Project Management (PM). The concept of lifecycle model has been around for many years now, yet much is to be gained by applying the same concept and analysis to retrieve and shed the light on key factors and dependencies of M&A strategy within the Market Life Cycle (MLC), the Firm Life Cycle (FLC) and the Product life cycle (PLC) model. Firstly, we will revisit these three life cycles that M&A strategy depends on. The M&A strategic project is easier to implement if these cycles are in similar phases where PM plays an essential role in the M&A process. Then we will present the comparative literature of both PM and M&A success factors where we have found a substantial overlap between the two. The main contribution of this article is to reinforce the existing studies on M&A related studies while emphasizing the importance of PM processes to undertake M&A venture with focus on some of the critical factors deemed relevant in lifecycle approach when extrapolated to M&A project. The article draws upon an empirical database of M&A activity in the hi-tech sector developed by post-graduate students over several years.
    W tym artykule analizujemy dynamikę fuzji i przejęć (ang. Mergers and Acquisitions, M & A) z punktu widzenia zarządzania projektami (ang. Project Management, PM). Koncepcja modelu cyklu życiowego istnieje już od wielu lat, ale wiele można uzyskać dzięki zastosowaniu tej samej koncepcji i analizy w celu otrzymania i uwydatnienia kluczowych czynników i zależności strategii M & A w ramach cyklu życia rynku (ang. Market Life Cycle, MLC), cyklu życia przedsiębiorstwa (ang. Firm Life Cycle, FLC) i cyklu życia produktu (ang. Product Life Cycle, PLC). Po pierwsze, ponownie przyjrzymy się trzem cyklom życia, od których zależy strategia M & A. Projekty strategiczne M & A są łatwiejsze do wdrożenia, jeśli te cykle są w podobnych fazach, w których PM odgrywa zasadniczą rolę w procesie fuzji i przejęć. Następnie przedstawimy literaturę porównawczą zarówno czynników sukcesu PM i M & A, w których stwierdziliśmy ich znaczne pokrywanie się. Głównym wkładem tego artykułu jest wzmocnienie istniejących studiów nad badaniami związanymi z analizą finansową, podkreślając znaczenie procesów PM w celu podejmowania przedsięwzięć w zakresie M & A, koncentrując się na niektórych czynnikach uznanych za istotne w podejściu do cyklu życia w przypadku ekstrapolacji projektu M & A. W artykule przedstawiono empiryczną bazę danych o działalności M & A w sektorze technologii hi-tech opracowanych przez studentów studiów podyplomowych w ciągu kilku lat.

    Zarządzanie projektami jest już obszerną i niezależną dziedziną nauki o zarządzaniu. Wiedza z tego zakresu jest rozpowszechniana nie tylko przez uczelnie wyższe, lecz również, a w zasadzie można by powiedzieć, że głównie przez stowarzyszenia zrzeszające praktyków i teoretyków zarządzania projektami takie jak IPMA czy Project Management Institute. Organizacje te prezentują różne podejścia do zarządzania projektami. Obecnie wiele firm zmaga się z dylematem, które podejście do zarządzania projektami stosować. Tradycyjne, dobrze znane przez większość praktyków zarządzania, czy zwinne, młodsze podejście. W referacie przedstawione zostało w jaki sposób popularne metodyki zarządzania projektami definiują projekt oraz jego cykl życia. Zostało to skonfrontowane z charakterystyką projektu górniczego co jednocześnie wskazuje, które z metodyk mają potencjał do zastosowania w górnictwie.
    Project management is already an extensive and independent field of management. Knowledge in this field is shared not only by universities, but also, and in principle it could be said that mainly by associations of practitioners and theoreticians of project management such as IPMA or Project Management Institute. These organizations present different approaches to project management. Today, many companies face a dilemma about which approach to project management to apply. Traditional, well-known by most management practitioners, or agile, younger approach. The paper presents how popular project management methodologies define a project and its life cycle. This has been confronted with the characteristics of the mining project, which at the same time indicates which of the methodologies have the potential to be used in mining.

    The advancement of modern societies results in a constantly growing demand for various services, which need to be delivered evenly across any given population, which in turn created an increase in public investments and spending on related utilization and maintenance costs. In order to meet the new requirements, public entities had to search for better ways of fulfilling public obligations. The main purpose of the following article is to characterize the main features of public-private partnerships, as well as the economic, political and managerial aspects of its execution. The article contains a whole model of a project realization, from an initial idea to full operation.

    Wdrażanie nowych projektów w branży farmaceutycznej jest ściśle powiązane z zarządzaniem projektami. W celu ich skutecznej realizacji kierownicy projektów mogą korzystać z szerokiego instrumentarium narzędzi i technik, wypracowanych przez dziesięciolecia w różnych branżach na całym świecie. Ponieważ – niezależnie od wybranego modelu rozwoju – skuteczna realizacja projektów w wysokim stopniu wpływa na sprawność działania i pozycję rynkową firm farmaceutycznych, warto zadać pytanie o stosowane w branży dobre praktyki projektowe. W tym zakresie autorzy poddali analizie schemat realizacji projektów wdrażania nowych produktów leczniczych, pozwalający skutecznie wprowadzać te projekty w segmencie leków generycznych. Zagadnienie to zostanie przedstawione z uwzględnieniem zjawiska projektyzacji branży farmaceutycznej oraz specyfiki realizacji projektów rozwoju nowych produktów i wprowadzania ich do obrotu.
    The implementation of new projects in the pharmaceutical industry highly depends on project management knowledge. In order to implement them effectively, project managers can use a wide range of tools and techniques developed over decades in various industries around the world. Regardless of the chosen development model, effective project implementation has a high impact on the operational efficiency and market position of pharmaceutical companies, therefore, it is worth asking the question about good project practices used in the industry. In this regard, the authors would like to analyse a life cycle scheme for implementing projects of new medicinal products, allowing for the effective implementation of projects in the segment of generic drugs. It will be presented taking into account the issue of projectification of the pharmaceutical industry and the specificity of implementing projects concerning new products development and introducing them into the market.
