Opis:
In this paper an oscillatory flow of a viscoelastic, incompressible and electrically conducting fluid through a porous medium bounded by two infinite vertical parallel plates is discussed. One of these plates is subjected to a slip-flow condition and the other to a no-slip condition. The pressure gradient in the channel oscillates with time. A magnetic field of uniform strength is applied in the direction perpendicular to the plates. The induced magnetic field is neglected due to the assumption of a small magnetic Reynolds number. The temperature difference of the two plates is also assumed high enough to induce heat transfer due to radiation. A closed form analytical solution to the problem is obtained. The analytical results are evaluated numerically and then presented graphically to discuss in detail the effects of different parameters entering into the problem. A number of particular cases have been shown by dotted curves in the figures. During the analysis it is found that the physical and the mathematical formulations of the problems by Makinde and Mhone (2005), Mehmood and Ali (2007), Kumar et al. (2010) and Choudhury and Das (2012) are not correct. The correct solutions to all these important oscillatory flow problems are deduced.

Opis:
The mathematical model of heat generation and dissipation during thermal energy transmission employing nanoparticles in a Newtonian medium is investigated. Dimensionless boundary layer equations with correlations for titanium dioxide, copper oxide, and aluminium oxide are solved by the finite element method. Parameters are varied to analyze their impact on the flow fields. Various numerical experiments are performed consecutively to explore the phenomenon of thermal performance of the combination fluid. A remarkable enhancement in thermal performance is noticed when solid structures are dispersed in the working fluid. The Biot number determines the convective nature of the boundary. When the Biot number is increased, the fluid temperature decreases significantly. Among copper oxide, aluminium oxide, and titanium oxide nanoparticles, copper oxide nanoparticles are found to be the most effective thermal enhancers.

Opis:
In this investigation, the numerical results of a mixed convective MHD chemically reacting flow past a vertical plate embedded in a porous medium are presented in the presence of cross diffusion effects and convective boundary condition. Instead of the commonly used conditions of constant surface temperature or constant heat flux, a convective boundary condition is employed which makes this study unique and the results more realistic and practically useful. The momentum, energy, and concentration equations derived as coupled second-order, ordinary differential equations are solved numerically using a highly accurate and thoroughly tested element free Galerkin method (EFGM). The effects of the Soret number, Dufour number, Grashof number for heat and mass transfer, the viscous dissipation parameter, Schmidt number, chemical reaction parameter, permeability parameter and Biot number on the dimensionless velocity, temperature and concentration profiles are presented graphically. In addition, numerical results for the local skin-friction coefficient, the local Nusselt number, and the local Sherwood number are discussed through tabular forms. The discussion focuses on the physical interpretation of the results as well as their comparison with the results of previous studies.
