Filozof w sposób krytyczny analizuje współczesne mu dyskursy polityczne, religijne i światopoglądowe oraz historyczne uwarunkowania ich powstania, aby następnie podjąć się trudu zdefiniowania pojęcia władzy. Sam termin rozumiany jest przez niego holistycznie – obejmuje ono wszystkie aspekty życia indywidualnego, rodzinnego i społecznego jednostki, dyskursu społecznego, problemu wiedzy, wykluczenia oraz oddziaływania światopoglądowego, w tym religii. Celem artykułu jest opis elementów tożsamości władzy w myśli Michela Foucaulta oraz odpowiedź na pytanie, w jaki sposób jest ona konstruowana oraz jak wpływa na upodmiotowienie człowieka w społeczeństwie.
    The concept of power is one of the main problems of social concepts in the work of Michel Foucault. The philosopher critically analyzes contemporary political, religious and ideological discourses as well as the historical conditions of their emergence, in order to undertake the trouble of defining the concept of power. The term itself is understood by him extremely holistically – it covers all aspects of the individual, family and social life of an individual (entity), social discourse, the problem of knowledge, exclusion and ideological influence, including religion. The purpose of the article is to describe the elements of the identity of power in the thought of Michel Foucault and answer the question how it is constructed and how it affects the empowerment of man in society?

    The author attempts to justify the thesis of the servient character of political power. By his analyses, he arrives at two conclusions. First, the ultimate goal of service fulfilled by political power should be identical with the natural goal of every human being, meaning a life of virtue. Hence, service to the cause of the citizens’ virtue requires that the fundamental duties of power include the protection of public peace, the promotion of actions towards the common good, and striving for a common abundance of worldly possessions. Second, to elect those in political power it is necessary to make sure that aspirants to such are characterized by the appropriate level of virtuous development. Each candidate should be first and foremost a person possessing a high moral quality (virtus boni viri), where prudence and magnanimity appear to be virtues especially fitting power (virtutes boni principis).

    The phenomenon of decreasing confidence and trust in academic environments is the subject-matter of my analysis. I observe one of the reasons for that in the fights of political elites, which tend to drag scientists into their political games. The instrumental utilisation of worldview disparities, religious activity, ideological and political preferences split scientific and academic staff, becoming the cause of antagonism among the representatives of social sciences and humanities. I write about pedagogy which is dependent on state affairs and included in activities firstly concentrating on gaining political power by a specific political formation, secondly – on maintaining it thanks to the system of national education, care, and upbringing.

    In the article the author describes the types of leadership in one of the polish political parties, the right wing party. The article's introduction includes reflections on the topic of ‘leadership' and ‘the right' as concepts. Following the introduction, the article examines the theoretical qualities of leadership in conjunction with the activities of Jaroslaw Kaczynski. The author also draws attention to the differences between the party's leadership in the right and left wing groups, taking into account regulatory and organizational determinants. Additionally the author notes the tendency of right wing leaders towards authoritarianism. This was pointed out by the author as being an unfavorable type of political culture for that kind of right wing leadership. The author mentions that the strong personality of Jarosław Kaczyński has a definitive influence on the types of leadership that Polish right-wing parties take on. He also points out the potential threat that kind of leadership poses, with respect to electoral weakness in the right-wing party.

    The political space of sub-Saharan Africa in terms of the sphere of myths, symbols and rituals that fill it is extremely vivid. In the perspective of contemporary civilization changes, media have a special power to create new myths. They are communicators that give form to collective elation and experiences. In the face of media dominance over the public sphere, the contemporary political scene of sub-Saharan Africa develops a catalog of symbols, ritual proceedings, desirable and accepted by local societies. Nowadays in sub-Saharan Africa, as in other parts of the world, many of the forms of social con-sciousness that have been mystified have gained the status of political myths, including the myth of “politics as the sphere of rational choices”, “developing society”, “demo-cratic state”, “good leader”, “peace”, “friendship”, “the enemy”, “new era”. Until recently, in the region's communities, customs and rituals from the sphere of interest in cultural anthropology regulated almost all aspects of the functioning of social groups. Currently, they are no longer a cultural whole, but a set of images manipulated accord-ing to needs. The new sphere of myths is a model for the behavior and collective think-ing of societies. Replacing political discourse, it is a tool in the pursuit of power, the essence of which is the domination over collective consciousness.

    Tekst podejmuje problem rzekomej bezalternatywności globalnych przemian dla realiów miejskiego życia. Miasto jako naturalnie wspólnotową, „komunistyczną” forma ludzkiego życia i może okazać się obszarem, w którym niezależnie od ogólnych trendów można realizować lewicową, „dospołeczną” politykę. Już istniejące formy szeroko rozumianej władzy mogą skutecznie oddziaływać na miejskie relacje społeczne. Wartości i normy są powszechnie delegowane na miejską materialność, a świadome kształtowanie nawet najdrobniejszych elementów miejskiej przestrzeni ma niepoślednie konsekwencję dla stosunków społecznych. Jeśli po części kryzys polityki jako formy organizacji życia wspólnoty wynika z przemian przestrzennych to można pomyśleć takie kroki, które z powrotem, wychodząc od miejskiej materialności, doprowadzą do odrodzenia politycznych podmiotów. Miasto jest ich realnym miejscem życia i działania i może stać się zarówno zbiorem biologicznych konsumentów jak i na nowo wspólnota polityczną.   Okazuje się wtedy nie tylko obszarem zależnym od światowego kapitalizmu, ale precyzyjnie tym miejscem, gdzie skala zachodzących procesów jest przynajmniej częściowo łatwiejsza do konceptualnego ogarnięcia. Dlatego może stać się punktem wyjścia dla radykalnej polityki demokratycznej.
    Essay faces the problem of determinacy of global capitalism processes for the reality of urban political life. The city is naturally communitarian form of human life and seems to be the place where radical pro-community politics could be undertaken. Already existing and operating forms of power could fruitfully influence the city social relations. Values and norms of conduct are broadly delegated on the urban space and materiality, thus conscious shaping of city space has severe consequences for community life. If a crisis of the political partly has its roots in metamorphoses of the cities, then also remedies, rising from the urban materiality and reestablishing political subjects, could be thought. City, as most real place of political life could be either reduced to the aggregate of consumers or reestablished as a political community. Due to this is the place where undesired course of action could be stopped, hence precisely here the radical democratic politics can emerge.

    Artykuł ukazuje słabości mainstreamowej polskiej politologii. Główną jej słabością według autora jest pomijanie wśród czynników determinujących współczesną politykę konfliktu przemysłowego i władzy korporacji. W efekcie osłabły związki nauki o polityce z ekonomią polityczną. Jej miejsce jako źródło inspiracji dla politologów zajęła filozofia społeczna. Poszukuje ona różnych pozaekonomicznych źródeł polityczności. Postulowana politologia krytyczna umieszcza w centrum uwagi główne procesy globalnej gospodarki kapitalistycznej, znajdującej się w fazie stagnacji i zbliżającj się do przyrodniczych granic swego trwania. W szczególności bliższej uwagi wymaga śledzenie nowej, już piątej konfiguracji społeczeństwa rynkowego. Będzie to spolot kilku procesów cząstkowych; procesu odzyskiwania autonomii przez państwa wobec korporacji i sektora finansowego (deglobalizacja); proces odzyskiwania kontroli nad państwem przez stare i nowe ruchy społeczne (demokracja partycypacyjna), a także proces transformacji energetycznej gospodarki, sprzężony z procesem zmiany stylu życia: od konsumpcjonizmu do paidei jako wspólnoty ludzkiej ukierunkowującej swoją aktywność na potrzeby rozwojowe, na otwartość i kreatywność w kształtowaniu nowych zasad funkcjonowania cywilizacji ogólnoludzkiej.
    The article shows the weakness of mainstream Polish political science. Its main weakness, according to the author, is omitting the industrial and corporate power conflict among the factors determining the contemporary politics. As a result, the relations between political science and political economy have become weak. Its place as a source of inspiration for political scientists has been taken by social philosophy. It seeks the various non-economic sources of politics. The postulated critical political science puts in the spotlight the main processes of the global capitalist economy located in a phase of stagnation and closing in on the natural limits of its duration. In particular, closer attention should be focused on tracking a new, already the fifth configuration of the market society. It will be the several partial processes weave; the recovery process of autonomy by the state to corporations and the financial sector (deglobalisation); the process of recovering control of the state by the old and new social movements (democracy participatory), and the process of transformation of the energy economy, coupled with the process of changing lifestyles: from consumerism to paideia as a human community responsive to its activity on the development, openness and creativity in shaping new rules for civilization.
