    The article is devoted to the structural basics of The Large Polish‑Ukrainian Phraseological Dictionary. Until recently, there had been no significant bilingual phraseological dictionary, which had made it difficult to comparatively study the phraseological systems of Polish and Ukrainian. The dictionary is based on lexicographic publications of various types, national language corpuses, and content. The article explains the principles of selecting phraseological units for the dictionary. Some phraseological units/idioms became the subject of lexicographic study for the first time. In detail is described the structure of the word explanations. During the selection of Ukrainian equivalents to the Polish output, taken into account is the fact that there are phraseological interlanguage homonyms – phraseological units/idioms that sound the same or similar in the two languages but that have different meanings. The dictionary contains an alphabetical register that includes all the components of the expressions/units. Thanks to such referencing, the reader can find the appropriate phrases in a single one word. The article describes the possibilities for the theoretical and applied solutions in the dictionary’s composition.

    Food, as one of the most important human activities, also has a huge impact on the sphere of culture and language. The daily preparation of meals can become a typical rite, for example, for a nation, but it is also a source of idiom formation. The article presents a comparative analysis of stylistic qualifiers which are used to designate idioms containing components associated with food in Ukrainian and Polish phraseology.

    Dieser Beitrag schildert das Konzept eines von der Arbeitsgruppe „Młodzi Frazeolodzy“ (Junge Phraseologen) durchgeführten Forschungsprojekts. Im Rahmen des Projekts sollte ein handliches Lexikon erstellt werden, das die von der akademischen Gemeinschaft der Adam-Mickiewicz-Universität in Poznań am häufigsten verwendeten polnischen Idiome in der informellen Sprache enthält. Bei den in der Sammlung erfassten Einträgen handelt es sich um Einheiten, die den meisten MitgliederInnen der Studentengemeinschaft bekannt sind. Die Stichwörter wurden mit Definition des Phraseologismus, möglichen Varianten, Stilmarker, Etymologie bzw. Motivation, Anwendungsbeispielen, phonetischer Transkription, Abbildungen und Äquivalenten in Englisch, Deutsch, Ukrainisch und Russisch versehen. Der Zugang zum solchen Lexikon kann verschiedene Gruppen von Menschen unterstützen, die aus bestimmten Gründen nach Polen gekommen sind, um sich z. B. weiterzubilden. Das Lexikon kann auch den Menschen dienen, die ihre Sprachkenntnisse verbessern oder sich in den Bereich der metaphorischen Sprache vertiefen wollen. Der Beitrag beschreibt die vorgenommenen Forschungsschritte und die bevorzugte Methodologie. Die Merkmale der von uns beschriebenen Einheiten – Phraseologismen – werden ebenfalls erwähnt. Darüber hinaus werden konkrete Beispiele für Wörterbucheinträge aufgeführt, die von Grafiken ergänzt werden. Zur Veranschaulichung der in der Untersuchung gesammelten Daten werden in dem Artikel auch statistische Angaben vorgelegt.
    This article describes the concept of a research project carried out by the “Młodzi Frazeolodzy” (Young Phraseologists) working group. The project aimed to create a handy lexicon containing the idioms most frequently used in informal speech by the academic community at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań. The entries included in the collection represent units that are familiar to most members of the academic community. The keywords were provided with a definition of the idiom, possible variants, a style marker, an etymology or motivation, examples of use, a phonetic transcription, illustrations and equivalents in English, German, Ukrainian and Russian. Access to such a lexicon can support different groups of people who have come to Poland for specific reasons, e.g., to educate themselves. The lexicon can also serve people who want to improve their language skills or delve into the field of metaphorical language. The paper describes the research steps undertaken and the preferred methodology. The characteristics of the units we describe – idioms – are also mentioned. In addition, specific examples of dictionary entries are given, which are complemented by graphics. To illustrate the information collected during the research, statistical data are also provided.

    The article presents an exemplary corpus-based analysis of selected Norwegian idioms in order to gain insight into their theory and actual use. The analysis comprises nine frequent idioms with the component 'heart'. First, each idiom is analyzed using the Leksikografisk bokmålskorpus and Oslo-korpuset av taggende norske tekster in terms of: frequency, possible variants and modifications. Next, the results are compared with the lexicographic description from Norwegian dictionary Bokmålsordboka. The main purpose of this chapter is thereby to show the potential of the corpus-based approach in the studies of idiomatic expressions.

    False friends in phraseology as a translation problem This paper presents the problem of translating false friends in phraseology. In addition, it illustrates the differences in the translation strategies of different groups of respondents and proves that false friends in the text can be avoided if they are known and if a particular vigilance is kept when translating lexically equivalent phraseological items.

Ponadto obrazuje on różnice w strategiach tłumaczeniowych grup respondentów i dokumentuje, że fałszywych przyjaciół w tekście można uniknąć, przy zachowaniu szczególnej czujności w trakcie tłumaczenia leksykalnie równoważnych frazeologizmów.

    Sowohl Polnisch als auch Deutsch verfügen über Wortverbindungen, die das Sprechen ermöglichen über Liebe, Freundschaft, Hass, Wut, Angst, Glück. Es besteht eine Äquivalenz zwischen ihnen, entweder vollständig, oder optional. Wir stoßen auch auf eine Gruppe unübersetzbarer Ausdrücke, deren Bedeutung vermittelt werden muss in der zweiten Sprache durch Beschreibung. Die Elemente der Phraseologie sind Eigennamen. In solchen Fällen Besonders auffällig ist der Unterschied zwischen polnischen und deutschen Ausdrücken.
    In this article there are presented various aspects of the scientific research on phraseologisms, categorisation criteria as well as the types of word connections. In next part, there is stated a description of the syntactic comparison of Polish vs. German phraseologisms regarding feelings. The above mentioned comparison has been made upon the components amount and type of particular parts in sentence. The core element in phraseologisms may constitute an adjective, adverb, a noun or preposition. It may also happen that part of the sentence stated in word connection in German differs in function while compared to the Polish version, nevertheless the meaning does not change. In the article there are mentioned idioms as well, which frequently have no equivalent in compared language. In such a case, their meaning should appear in descriptive manner.
    Zarówno w języku polskim, jak i niemieckim funkcjonują związki wyrazowe, dzięki którym można mówić o miłości, przyjaźni, nienawiści, złości, strachu, szczęściu. Pomiędzy nimi istnieje ekwiwalencja albo całkowita, albo fakultatywna. Spotykamy także grupę wyrażeń nieprzetłumaczalnych, których znaczenie należy oddać w drugim języku poprzez opis. Elementami frazeologizmów bywają nazwy własne. W takich wypadkach szczególnie mocno ujawnia się różnica pomiędzy polskimi i niemieckimi wyrażeniami.
