    Badania nad poszczególnymi funkcjami języka, m.in. w retoryce kaznodziejskiej, powinny zmierzać do lepszego poznania mechanizmów, jakie rządzą językiem. W przypadku funkcji fatycznej chodzi o ważny element, jakim jest nawiązanie kontaktu i podtrzymanie uwagi słuchacza. Artykuł precyzuje w przypadku jakich elementów formalnych funkcja fatyczna obecna jest w kaznodziejstwie. W pracy wskazane zostało odniesienie do używanych przez kaznodziejów zwrotów adresatywnych, posługiwania się różnymi strukturami leksykalnymi języka oraz stosowanie określonych struktur przygotowanych tekstów homilii i kazań. Przedstawione zabiegi formalne pozwalają nawiązać i utrzymać uwagę słuchacza, co pozostaje warunkiem koniecznym dla właściwego przekazu treści.
    Research that covers particular functions of language in rhetoric should lead to acquiring knowledge of the mechanisms of a language. As it comes to the phatic function, it is about the prominent element that is making contact and maintaining recipient's attention. The article defines the issue that concerns in which formal elements (of homilies and sermons) phatic function (phatic communion) is present in preaching. The author of the assignment pointed out the reference to the adversative phrases used by preachers, using different lexical structures and the application of certain structures of the homilies and sermons. Those presented formal procedures allow to establish and keep the attention of the listener, which remains an essential condition for an appropriate transfer of content.

    Film review as a rhetorical activityThe paper discusses the discursive construction of persuasiveness in media language. Analysing the corpus consisting of eighty reviews of two French comedies “Intouchables” (2011) and “Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu?” (2014), several invariant characteristics of the genre `film review' are established in the light of its deliberative dimension which consists in using various discursive strategies of persuasion submitted to the phatic function based on the principle of movere and delectare. Since the mentioned strategies assume that the discourse aims at influencing the addressees' will and decisions, they reflect some of the persuasive techniques used in advertising discourse, especially with regard to rhetorical means of interpretation, suggestion and evaluation such as colloquial expressions, questions, directive speech acts, collocative pronouns and generic quantifiers. Thus, the issues addressed in the study concern a set of parameters governing the attractiveness of the message in order to reinforce or weaken the recipient's attitude towards the presented object. These parameters stem from shared values and convictions exploring automatic mental triggers connected with the peripheral route of persuasive influence. Recenzja filmowa jako działanie retoryczneCelem analizy jest przedstawienie dyskursywnego konstruowania perswazyjności w języku mediów. Na bazie korpusu składającego się z osiemdziesięciu recenzji dwóch francuskich komedii „Nietykalnych” (2011) i „Za jakie grzechy, dobry Boże?” (2014) omówiono kilka inwariantnych cech gatunku „recenzji filmowej”, przedstawionych w świetle jej deliberatywności, polegającej na użyciu różnorakich dyskursywnych strategii perswazyjnych, zależnych od fatycznej funkcji języka, działającej w oparciu o reguły movere i delectare. Ponieważ we wspomnianych strategiach zakłada się, że celem dyskursu jest wpływanie na wolę i decyzje odbiorcy, odzwierciedlają one niektóre z perswazyjnych technik dyskursu reklamowego, w szczególności te, które związane są z retorycznymi środkami interpretacji, sugestii i wartościowania jak wyrażenia potoczne, pytania, akty dyrektywne, zaimki kolektywne oraz kwantyfikatory ogólne. Z tego powodu, kwestie omawiane w niniejszej pracy dotyczą środków zawiadujących atrakcyjnością komunikatu, służącej wzmocnieniu lub osłabieniu opinii odbiorcy względem prezentowanego obiektu. Środki te wywodzą się z wartości i przekonań uznanych za wspólne, wykorzystując przy tym automatyczne psychologiczne mechanizmy, związane z argumentacją peryferyjnego toru perswazji.

    The present paper deals with the discursive construction of persuasiveness in media language. Based on eighty reviews of two French comedies Intouchables (2011) and Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu ? (2014), different components of the genre ‘film review’ – relatively little explored until recently – are established in the light of two operations of metonymy exploring the rhetorical argument from community. As the operations mentioned contribute to influencing the addressees’ will and decisions, they perform the phatic function linked to the rhetoric principle of movere and delectare. Accordingly, it is important to notice that the persuasive strategies reflect some methods used in advertising discourse, especially with regard to indirect means of interpretation, values and emotions, which become starting points for the deliberative dimension of the film review. These parameters permit to reduce the information verification process by applying colloquial expressions, directive speech acts, collocative pronouns and generic quantifiers, since they stem from the trustworthiness relation connected with the peripheral route of persuasive influence.

    The purpose of this paper is to examine the discursive construction of persuasiveness in media language on the basis of the genre ‘film review,’ which is relatively rarely analysed. Thanks to a study of eighty reviews for three popular French comedies “Intouchables” (2011), “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?” (2014) and “Le sens de la fête” (2017) several invariant persuasive traits of this kind of discourse can be described in the context of its demonstrative (epideictic) and deliberative (legislative) dimensions. These dimensions exploit the rhetorical parameters of movere and delectare related to the conative function of language combined with the phatic one. Since the use of the mentioned strategies stems from the need for film reviewers to attract and convince the addressee to see a film or not, they reflect some persuasive techniques of advertising discourse, which aim to influence one’s will and decisions. Therefore, the paper elaborates on a set of discursive strategies of persuasion (DSP), leading to dynamise and dialogise the discourse in order to reinforce or weaken the addressee’s attitude towards the presented film by means of evaluative lexis including colloquial expressions, superlatives, questions and appellative-directive forms. All these elements refer to shared values, connotation, presupposition, and the identification relationship in order to ‘lock’ the addressee in the discursive universe created by the addresser.

    W artykule dokonano charakterystyki dwóch składników procesu porozumiewania się: kodu i kontaktu. Punktem wyjścia uczyniono autorską koncepcję niemowności i niemówienia oraz lingwistyki komunikacji alternatywnej i wspomagającej AAC. Wynika z tego, że kontekst analiz zawiera dwie podstawowe składowe: osoby mówiące, czyli posługujące się językiem naturalnym, oraz osoby pozbawione możliwości mówienia, czyli posługujące się jakąś protezą mowy i/lub systemem AAC. Pomimo braku komunikacyjnej symetrii ich wzajemne porozumienie się jest możliwe i dokonuje się nie tylko w ramach dyskursu terapeutycznego. Dzieje się tak dzięki operacyjnemu wykorzystaniu potencjału kodowego komunikacji oraz gotowości do kontaktu jej uczestników. W związku z powyższym nadrzędnym celem tekstu jest ukazanie roli kodu i kontaktu jako składowych aktu mowy w sytuacji komunikacyjnej osób niemownych i niemówiących.
    This paper is an analysis of two components of communication – code and contact. The starting point is author’s conception of speaking little and not speaking at all and the linguistics of augmentative and alternative communication. It indicates that the context for analysis includes two basic components: speaking persons, persons using natural language, and persons deprived of the capacity to speak and therefore utilizing a speech prosthesis or/ and the AAC system. Despite lack of symmetry of communication the mutual understanding is possible and is effected not only within the framework of a therapeutic discourse. It is possible due to utilizing the code potential of communication and readiness of participants of communication.
