Opis:
Occurrence of parasitic Metazoa of bream (Abramis brama) in the natural and artificial reservoirs in Poland. The occurrence of parasitic Metazoa of bream in Poland was analyzed. Three types of reservoirs were studied - lakes, lakes heated with thermal effluents and artificial reservoirs. The estimated model S = 3.367 * ln(N) - 1.192 described relationship between sample size and richness of the component community of bream parasites in lakes. On the basis of this model the confidence intervals for each artificial reservoir and thermally affected lake were computed. The richness of the component communitites of bream did not depend on the type of reservoir (natural vs. Artificial). It was affected by the thermal eftluents (richer communities in heated lakes), geographical isolation of the reservoir, and young age of the reservoir. Most spectacular influence of the artificial origin of the reservoir was found in Monogenea (group missing in 5-year old reservoir) and Acanthocephalus anguillae (present in 1 out of 4 artificial reservoirs).

Opis:
A total of 490 bream (Abramis brama) (250 individuals from the Gosławskie lake and 240 from the Gopło lake) were examined for helminths. The study was carried out within 2000−2002. Twenty−two helminth species were recovered: Dactylogyrus auriculatus (von Nordmann, 1832), Dactylogyrus falcatus (Wedl, 1857), Dactylogyrus sphyrna Linstow, 1878, Dactylogyrus wunderi Bychowsky, 1931, Dactylogyrus zandti Bychowsky, 1933, Gyrodactylus elegans von Nordmann, 1832, Diplozoon paradoxum von Nordmann, 1832, Tylodelphys clavata (von Nordmann, 1832), Ichthyocotylurus platycephalus (Creplin, 1825), Bucephalus polymorphus Baer, 1827, Posthodiplostomum cuticola (von Nordmann, 1832), Phyllodistomum elongatum Nybelin, 1926, Sphaerostomum bramae (Müller, 1776), Asymphylodora imitans (Mühling, 1898), Ligula intestinalis (Linnaeus, 1758), Caryophyllaeus laticeps (Pallas, 1781), Neogryporhynchus cheilancristrotus (Wedl, 1855), Raphidascaris acus (Bloch, 1779), Philometra ovata (Zeder, 1803), Acanthocephalus anguillae (Müller, 1780), Acanthocephalus lucii (Müller, 1776) and Acanthocephalus sp., and one taxon of the generic level (Diplostomum). Twenty−one taxa occurred in Gosławskie Lake, while nineteen were noted in the Gopło Lake. In this study the dominant were the digenean matacercariae (Diplostomum spp.) while in relation to the data from 1972−74 and 1982−84 that was Bucephalus polymorphus and Dactylogyrus wunderi. Plerocercoids Ligula intestinalis was recorded for the first time in muscle of bream.

Opis:
Muscles of the bream Abramis brama (L.) infected and not infected with plerocercoids of L. intestinalis, as well as the plerocercoids constituted the material. In the studied material the content of water, proteins (biuret method), hydrocarbons (antron method) and lipids (Folch's method), as well as the qualitative lipid composition (thin layer chromatography on silicagel) were determined. The muscles of infected fish showed a slightly higher (by 1.6% fresh weight) water content and a slightly lower content of proteins, hydrocarbons and lipids (by 0.6%, 0.03% and 0.6°/o respectively). In the body of the plerocercoids the content of water and proteins was lower than in the host muscles (by 11% and 8% respectively), as well as that of lipids (by 2.6% and 2.7%), while the hydrocarbon content was much higher (16.7% for the plerocercoids, 0.06% for the host). It is interesting to note the high phospholipid content (31.2°/o) in the lipid pool of the plerocercoids, along with the simultaneous decrease of this fraction in the respective pool of infected bream. Besides, in the group of neutral lipids of the muscular tissue of the bream triglycerides form a significant part. The slight changes in the chemical composition of the muscles of infected fish, as compared with the relatively high level of their energy reserves (as triglycerides), suggest that the negative effect of the parasite on the physiological condition of its host is rather limited.

Opis:
Fish caught in the Włocławek Dam Reservoir during the years 1982-83 in April, July and August were parasitologically, anatomopathologically and histopathologically examined (cf. tab. 1). For histopathological examination fresh and stained permanent slides whenever necessary were made. In the studied fish parasitic protozoans (Flagellata, Sporozoa and Ciliata) as well as metazoans (flukes, tapeworms, nematods, crustaceans and, sporadically, molluscan glochidia) were found to occur. Within the first group the most important with respect to the extensity, and in some months also the intensity of infection were the Sporozoa of the genus Pleistophora (Microspora), then Myxobolus mülleri (Cnidosporidia) and Rhabdospora thelohani, within the second group - metacercariae of Diplostomum spathaceum and Tylodelphys clavatum. The parasite fauna of the bream and roach does not show any significant qualitative or quantitative differences, while in the parasite fauna of the pike perch - beside the parasites typical of this species - the parasites found also in the bream and roach i.e. in the cyprinids, dominate both qualitatively and quantitatively. Beside specific changes, characteristic of the infection with the parasitic metazoans, a higher intensity of invasion, especially in the case of Sporozoa, is accompanied by pathomorphological changes such as tissue damage, necrosis, blood supply disturbance swelling, inflammatoiry reaction with cell infiltrations and general emaciation. Such changes were not found in the great part of the fish stock, with a low intensity of infection.

Opis:
Freshwater bream Abramis brama inhabiting warm-water discharge canal of the „Dolna Odra" Power Plant (Poland) were surveyed within 1983-1986 for their copepod parasites Tracheliastes maculatus. A total of 812 bream was studied and 561 females and 7 males of the parasite were recovered. The overall prevalence (for the whole survey) was 23.3% and the overall abundance was 0.69. T. maculatus were prevalent and abundant in winter while in summer they were encountered sporadically. The seasonality of the parasite exhibited consistent pattern within the studied period and it showed no signs of rise beyond the natural balance limits.
Obserwowano sezonowość inwazji Tracheliastes maculatus na leszczu, Abramis brama w „kanale ciepłym" elektrowni „Dolna Odra". Badania prowadzono od 1983 do 1986 roku. Złowiono 812 leszczy, znaleziono 561 samic i 7 samców pasożyta.

Opis:
During the years 2004–2006 the parasitological autopsies of three species of fish: roach Rutilus rutilus (L.), bream Abramis brama (L.) and perch Perca fluviatilis L. from three lakes situated in warmińsko-mazurskie voivodeship were done. The aim of this study was comparable analysis of Metazoan parasite communities which occur in roach, bream and perch in three lakes of river Łyna watershed. These lakes differ by physical (size, depth, eutrophication degree) and biological factors (composition of free-living organisms). The studies showed some relationships between size of fishes and the frequency of some parasite species as well as some relationships in seasonal dynamic of occurrence and maturation of ecto- and endoparasites, which were connected with temperature – main factor regulating processes of fish colonization by parasites and future development of parasites. In quantitative and qualitative analysis of fish parasite community structure the following indexes were used: species richness (S), species diversity of Shannon-Weaver (H’), species diversity of Brillouin (HB) and index of domination Berger-Parker (D). Studies showed that the main indexes of communities structure which indicating on occurring differences between lakes were indexes of diversity component communities and infracommunities and also index of dominance. Communities of monogeneans (roaches and breams) can be use as indicators of water environment. Apart from communities of gills parasites also alfamesotrophic lake Łańskie and eutrophic Mielno lake were differenced by eyes parasites and allogenic community of bream parasites and by intestinal parasites of roach.
