    The paper addresses the discourse of historical politics developed in Poland in the first decade of the 21st century, as well as its limitations caused by the opposition of many of professional historians and by some implicit assumptions, such as the assumption of the homogeneity of the subject of collective memory; the assumption of the elite character of the discourse; or the nation as a central category. An alternative account of relations between history, memory and politics can be found, among others, in the works of Michel Foucault.
    Tematem artykułu jest charakterystyka rozwiniętego w pierwszej dekadzie XXI w. dyskursu polskiej polityki historycznej (polityki pamięci), a także jego ograniczenia. Są nimi – po pierwsze – zewnętrzna opozycja ze strony części środowiska historyków oraz po drugie – wewnętrzne założenia dyskursu (założenie o homogeniczności podmiotu zbiorowej pamięci; założenie o elitarnym charakterze dyskursu; centralne znaczenie kategorii narodu). Alternatywną konceptualizację problemu relacji między historią i pamięcią a polityką można znaleźć między innymi w pracach Michela Foucaulta.

    Article raises the issue of the importance of historical policy, also known as the politics of memory, as a category, which in recent years is the subject of heated debate. This is because, through the tools of historical policy, the authority has the opportunity to shape the expected vision of the state and nation in the international arena. This remains controversial due to the fact that the possibility of an arbitrary silence inconvenient facts and events. The main aim of this article was to show the importance of historical policy as a tool to build the country’s image in the international arena, not evaluating the policy pursued by the authorities. This issue is discussed in a wide range in the pages of various publications and at scientific conferences or debates historians. Analysing the literature and the press reports and official documents of institutions and government agencies have been in the paper a short review of selected policy definitions historical aspects of its tools and its implementation and postulates policy history in the future. Historical policy should be implemented by the Polish state as part of the construction of the position of the State in the international sphere, but mainly as an element of education of the next generations of Poles. I have no doubt that in the international, worldwide, all reasonable state, who understand their needs, and above all, to have a sense of their statehood and dignity, pursue an active policy of history.
    Artykuł podnosi kwestię znaczenia polityki historycznej, nazywanej także polityką pamięci, jako kategorii, która na przestrzeni ostatnich lat stanowi przedmiot burzliwej debaty. Dzieje się tak dlatego, że poprzez narzędzia polityki historycznej, władza ma możliwość kształtowania oczekiwanej wizji państwa i narodu na arenie międzynarodowej. Budzi to kontrowersje ze względu na fakt możliwości arbitralnego przemilczenia niewygodnych faktów i zdarzeń. Zasadniczym celem artykułu było ukazanie znaczenia polityki historycznej jako narzędzia budowy wizerunku państwa na arenie międzynarodowej, nie dokonując oceny prowadzonej przez władze polityki. Zagadnienie to poruszane jest w szerokim zakresie na łamach różnego rodzaju publikacji oraz podczas konferencji naukowych czy debat historyków. Analizując literaturę przedmiotu oraz doniesienia prasowe, oficjalne dokumenty instytucji i urzędów państwowych, dokonano w artykule krótkiego przeglądu wybranych definicji polityki historycznej, jej aspektów i narzędzi jej realizacji oraz postulatów prowadzenia polityki historycznej w przyszłości. Polityka historyczna powinna być realizowana przez polskie państwo nie tylko jako element budowy pozycji tego państwa w przestrzeni międzynarodowej, ale przede wszystkim jako element wychowania kolejnych pokoleń Polaków. Nie mam wątpliwości, że w przestrzeni międzynarodowej, ogólnoświatowej, wszystkie rozsądne państwa, które rozumieją swoje potrzeby, a przede wszystkim, które mają poczucie swojej państwowości i godności, prowadzą aktywną politykę historyczną.

    Artykuł prezentuje zbiór patronów jednostek i instytucji współczesnego Wojska Polskiego, których imiona noszą różnego stopnia związki taktyczne i komórki organizacyjne Sił Zbrojnych RP. W grupie „wojskowych” patronów można wyróżnić kilka typów postaci: wybitnych monarchów polskich, wielkich wodzów epoki staropolskiej, bohaterów epoki rozbiorowej, oficerów walczących o Niepodległość i granice w latach 1914–1921 oraz żołnierzy doby II wojny światowej i czasów powojennych. Zestawienie tych bohaterów stanowi wyrazisty przykład specyficznego kanonu pamięci historycznej współczesnego Wojska Polskiego.
    The article describes the group of patrons of military units in Polish Armed Forces. A lot of divisions, brigades, regiments, battalions, air bases and other military institutions are honored by name of historical characters – great monarchs and leaders from Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth era, heroes from 19th century, officers fighting for independence and borders in 1914–1921 and soldiers from WWII or post-War era. All presented characters form a canon of specific historical memory of contemporary Polish Armed Forces.

    Opis:
    Recent studies of culture and cultural participation in Poland are marked by a turn towards heritage and collective memory. As regards science and its distinctive status, certain trends may be observed that are parallel to general changes occurring in culture and social life. Cultural studies includes research on politics of memory and historical culture. Regardless of changing cultural practices, studies of cultural participation and of memory and heritage are usually treated as autonomous. Works which describe dimensions of cultural participation in terms of frequency of engaging in socially sanctioned practices, typically reduce historical culture to a museum activity. The article reflects on the phenomenon of the time of memory, discussing how it affects the interpretation of cultural participation and its dimensions, along with the respective empirical research. It is based on the assumption that the actor-network theory, applied by Marek Krajewski to research on cultural participation, is a good starting point for studying participation in historical culture understood here as an area of cultural activities that include collective memory and heritage.
