- A deep knowledge of the phenomena in PM synchronous generator is necessary to predict precisely machine properties, as well as to recognize the machine condition during operation The inside asymmetry of a machine causes some Fourier components in stator phase current and in electromagnetic torque. To predict additional Fourier components in the stator phase current and torque, it is necessary to have mathematical models of PM generator taking into account magnetic asymmetry, air gap slotting and stator windings asymmetry. The paper presents mathematical modeling of PM generator applied to study the effects in the stator currents and electromagnetic torque caused by inside stator winding asymmetry. To predict qualitatively and quantitatively the spectra of currents and components of electromagnetic torque a special harmonic balance method is used.
