    Artykuł porusza temat świętowania piątku w islamie w porównaniu z chrześcijańskim świętowaniem niedzieli. Zagadnienie to nie jest zbyt często podejmowane w polskojęzycznych opracowaniach. Dzień zgromadzenia, bo tak nazywany jest piątek w Koranie, nie stanowi dnia świątecznego dla wyznawców islamu. Jest to dzień, w którym w godzinach południowych odbywa się wspólna modlitwa w meczecie. W artykule przedstawiono najpierw, czym jest ów dzień zgromadzenia, a następnie omówiono kwestię chrześcijańskiej niedzieli, czyli dnia Pańskiego. W dalszej części opracowania ukazano modlitwę piątkową w islamie i niedzielną celebrację liturgii eucharystycznej u chrześcijan. Kolejnym podjętym zagadnieniem stała się rola przewodnika tych modlitw: w islamie imama, a w chrześcijaństwie kapłana. W końcowej fazie artykułu zasygnalizowane zostało zjawisko ewolucji form świętowania. Szczególnie dotyczy ono obchodzenia niedzieli jako dnia świętego chrześcijan.
    There is ever growing vagueness and inaccuracy about Islam, especially in the Western world with its Christian foundations. The article addresses the issue of Muslim Friday Worship in comparison with the Christian celebration of Sunday. Koran prescribes Friday as the Day of Congregation. But it is not a day off for Muslims. They gather together in the mosque at noontime to pray. The opening sections of the article describe the Day of Congregation and the relevant Islamic prayers, and the celebration of the Christian Sunday, called the Lord’s Day. The middle segment presents the place and role of the imam and priest in their respective communities. The closing paragraphs draw the reader’s attention to the evolving nature of the celebrations, especially those of the Christian Sunday.

    Opis:
    Sunday is the very center of Christian life. Discovering the meaning of the Lord's Day again is a grace, for which one should pray, in order to respond to every man’s true and deep desire. Rejecting the holiness of Sunday, and in this way treating God’s third commandment superficially, is one of the elements threatening man’s harmonious development. Desacralization of Sunday is proven by organizing and taking up additional gainful employment, doing the hard household chores, doing the shopping in supermarkets or at second-hand car sales. Hence undertaking various actions in dioceses and in parishes seems necessary, in order to restore God's order of living the week.

    The article presents the sacrament of the Eucharist in the perspective of Sunday, because this sacrament is the source of the whole Christian life, and the Church lives thanks to the Eucharist (Ecclesia de Eucharistia vivit). It presents an overview of the major changes in the liturgy and the theology of the Holy Mass on Sunday, as well as the value of Sunday for the People of God. The liturgy, especially the Sunday liturgy, is not a theological treatise or a scientific lecture, but a celebration of the mystery of Christ, that is, the action of God himself together with the gathered People of God. It is an authentic confession of faith and a sign of belonging to the Church of God and union with him. The faithful, when they do not understand the spirit and meaning of the rites, withdraw, sometimes looking for other forms of religiosity. Therefore, there is a need to encourage, educate and prepare them for a fuller participation in the Sunday liturgy, which is, after all, of fundamental importance for the life of the Church and its individual members. It is the liturgy that effectively creates communion and educates to communion. The liturgy, especially the Sunday liturgy, lived in the full communion of the Church, reveals the entire mystery of Christ, from the Incarnation and Nativity to the Ascension and Pentecost, and the expectation of the blessed hope and coming of Christ. It is the realization of God’s plan of salvation and the continuation of the history of salvation to which all are called.
