    Opis:
    The paper presents analysis of Södra Munksjön project in terms of smart solutions. It was created for Swedish city Jönköping. Jönköping was highly placed in European Smart Cities rankings for medium-sized cities in EU. Both the project and development strategy of Jönköping commune do not mention smart solutions or smart city as a development strategy. Despite this, in the case of a project, sustainable solutions are identical to smart solutions.
    Artykuł przedstawia analizę projektu Södra Munksjön pod kątem rozwiązań wpisujących się w ideę smart city. Projekt jest realizowany w szwedzkim mieście Jönköping, które znalazło się na listach rankingowych European Smart Cities dla średniej wielkości miast UE, zajmując wysokie pozycje. Zarówno projekt jak i strategia rozwoju gminy nie odnoszą się bezpośrednio do smart city. Pomimo to w przypadku projektu rozwiązania zrównoważone są tożsame z rozwiązaniami smart.

    Purpose: The primary purpose of the presented work is to show the impact of the residents’ opinion on the formation of the city's position in the SCR ranking. Another objective was to draw attention to the problem of data shortages in publicly available databases. Design/methodology/approach: The primary database of European countries is the Eurostat database. The research area covered cities with a population of between 200,000 and 800,000, which were not national capitals. Only one city from each country was selected. The proposed SCR covers six areas related to Smart City concept. Two types of meters for each of them are proposed – the first based on objective measures, the second on subjective measures, i.e. the opinions of residents. Each factor was standardised and transformed. The higher the value of the factor, the greater the positive effect on the index. Findings: Cities from the database were identified. General ranking and rankings for both objective and subjective meters were created. The relationship between rankings was investigated, and the impact of subjective variables was shown to be significant. Originality/value: The original method for determining the Smart City index was proposed. It is shown that subjective measures should be included in the rankings. The opinion of the residents should be taken into account when building a ranking regarding Smart City concept.

    Purpose: The aim of the paper is to analyze the role of the engineer in the process of implementing sustainable development principles in the industrial enterprise. Design/methodology/approach: Critical literature analysis. Analysis of international literature from main databases and polish literature and legal acts connecting with researched topic. Findings: The analyses presented in the publication have drawn attention to the issue of the engineer's role in the implementation of the principles of sustainable development by an industrial enterprise. Particularly now, during the implementation of Industry 4.0, engineers should pay attention to the implementation of sustainable development principles in industry. These issues are also important as a result of the energy transition implemented in EU countries, which requires organizations to reduce their energy intensity, thus promoting sustainable development. The implementation of Smart City technologies also means that sustainability issues must be taken into account in engineering city planning. Originality/value: Detailed analysis of all subjects related to the role of engineers in the sustainable development principles implementation.

    The aim of the article is to draw attention to the rights and freedoms of citizens in the light of the idea of introducing “15-minute cities”. This idea is indicated in the UN resolution of 2015, called the 2030 Agenda. 15-minute cities are referred to as smart cities or compact cities. Under the “Horizon Europe” program, 100 cities were selected as experimental cities in the pursuit of creating smart cities by 2030, including: Wrocław, Warsaw, Łódź, Rzeszów and Kraków. The assumption of the smart city is that every resident should have access to basic life needs within 15 minutes of home. By implementing the above, a new urban planning trend in cities was also created. On the basis of these considerations, an attempt was made to assess whether the changes related to the introduction of 15-minute cities will not limit the rights and freedoms of man and citizen.
    Celem artykułu jest zwrócenie uwagi na prawa i wolności obywateli w świetle idei wprowadzania „miast 15-minutowych”. Idea ta wskazywana jest w rezolucji ONZ z 2015 r., zwaną Agendą 2030. Miasta 15-minutowe, określane są jako smart city lub miasta kompaktowe. W ramach programu „Horyzont Europa” wybrano 100 miast jako eksperymentalnych w dążeniu do stworzenia do 2030 r. miast inteligentnych, w tym: Wrocław, Warszawa, Łódź, Rzeszów i Kraków. Założeniem smart city jest by każdy mieszkaniec miał dostęp do podstawowych potrzeb życiowych w odległości 15 minut od domu. Realizując powyższe wytworzył się też nowy nurt urbanistyczny w miastach. Na tle tych rozważań podjęta została próba oceny czy zmiany związane z wprowadzaniem miast 15-minutowych nie wpłyną na ograniczanie praw i wolności człowieka i obywatela.
