Opis:
The theology of the nation is a section of theology, that describes its histo-ry in the light of Christian faith. Its essence consists in appealing both to God and to the activity of the nation in the world as Christian witness. Theology of a na-tion grows out of the event of baptism, which influences the morality of society, politics, social issues, culture and economy. Baptism is the foundation of national identity and encourages the construction of a world in which Christian values are taken into account. Theology of the Polish nation was developed the mainly during the time of the „partitions”, when Poland ceased to exist as an independent state. In spite of this circumstance, the nation survived, thanks to its faith in God and its wil-lingness to cooperate effectively with him in order to regain his independence. The Mother of Jesus, who was named Queen of Poland, who taught Poles the love of the homeland and reconciliation of her children, was an aid to the oppressed nation.During the partitions, a valuable role in regaining the independence by Poland was played by the artists, who were interpreting the history of Poland in the light of the Bible and its message. In this way, they created a spark of hope, so that the overwhelming darkness that fell on the nation do not obscure the pursuit of freedom. In the 20th century, when the nation experienced occupation – first, German, and then Soviet – the Poles were given great spiritual leaders: Cardinal Stefan Wyszyński and John Paul II are an example of wisdom and courage in le-ading the nation towards independence. The experience of Poland confirms that in the nation the most important is the spirit that gives its inhabitants strength and power. When the nation calls on God, he will endure the most painful torments. The strength of the spirit guaran-tees the spiritual development of the community, stimulates action and releases hope for a better future. In modern times, the Polish nation finds it in the message of God's mercy.

Opis:
Polish theology can’t be understood without history and culture. They complete each other. Reflections of Polish theologians, who opened up to faith through the written word and testimony of life, resulted from Polish experience. There are many theologians of this kind, that is why only most significant were highlighted. The central value of Polish theology is the mistery of the Christ – crucified and resurrected, He who sheds the light on the nation’s history. At the same time theology of liberation and freedom as well as theology of culture derived from theology of nation. To some extent also Polish personalism writes into it. Moreover, theology of Christ’s heart and mercy are also known in Polish theology. That’s because at the end of 18th century Poland celebrated the feast of God’s Heart as the first nation in Europe and in 20th century celebrated the feast of God’s Mercy. Holy Mary plays an important role in Polish spirituality. The worship of Holy Mary became the symbol and binder of the Poles community – ready at any time to fight and defend their faith in a similar way that the Polish Republic. That is why mariology refers to the history of nation and it opens to the thoughts connected with the works of Second Vatican Council. What is more, also ecumenism is connected with the history of Polish nation and it had a strong influence onto the people. Protestant – catholic and orthodox – catholic dialogues studied by contemporary theologists had their bases set up much earlier. There are other signs of Polish theology. Theologists further study the reality, basing on their universalism and openness, faithful to tradition and never dissenting from it.

Opis:
The article discusses God’s providence in the life of John Paul II. The biblical message of evil’s inability to overpower God’s wisdom is presented in the backdrop of difficult and painful events in the pop’s life. Yet both the experiences of World War II and the subsequent communist era provide opportunities for Wojtyla to experience God’s helping hand. Calling on his Lord ‘Jesus, I trust in You’ during that ‘dark night’ , as inspired by the revelations of Saint Faustina Kowalski, instilled hope and strength in him. The accompanying God’s providence manifested itself during his pontificate and perhaps most clearly on May13th 1981, when he was wounded in an attempted assassination. The fact that he survived was a clear sign of God’s intervention. What he saw in those traumatic events was the amazing ways of God’s guidance. He could also experience the presence of The Creator and His Mother, ever so alert and ready to help.
