Maturity models are a kind of compendium of knowledge from a given field and a guide for managers translating knowledge into concrete actions which aim is to change and improve an organization. They describe the evolutionary development path which enables an organization to move from the state of inconsistent, short-term business actions to the arranged, monitored and managed ones. The article presents and compares two procedures of maturity models designing and design principles, that is criteria which a maturity model should correspond to as a result of designing, helping potential users in comparing and assessing of existing models. The aim of the article is the assessment of EFQM excellence model as to meeting the criteria of usefulness and application included in design priniples. EFQM excellence model is an example of a well designed prescriptive model which sufficiently covers the most important usefulness criteria.

Purpose: The purpose of this article is to present the relationship between the level of a manager’s maturity and their effectiveness in performing their role. Design/methodology/approach: This article is an overview that presents a new perspective in the perception and assessment of managers’ effectiveness, namely managers’ personality maturity. Findings: The conducted considerations show that the maturity of a manager’s personality determines the maturity level of their personal behaviour, which creates space for effective managerial activities. Research limitations/implications: It is recommended to continue empirical investigations using strong diagnostic tools, including personality diagnostics in a large research group of managers. Practical implications: The relationship presented in this article between the level of managers’ maturity and their ability to perform effective managerial behaviours at the organizational level creates a research area for determining the relationship between personality predispositions and their usefulness in the effective achievement of the tasks entrusted to managers. As a result, it is possible to shape the desired self-development conditions that are conducive to building and strengthening a mature personality. Social implications: If introduced as a permanent category in assessing managers’ effectiveness, personality maturity, understood as the ability to assume responsibility for one’s personal self-development, can significantly incentivise organizations to create space for managers’ psychological responsibility for the development of themselves and their employees. Originality/value: A close relationship has been identified between personality traits and their development and managers’ efficiency and effectiveness in achieving assumed goals. It is shown that a manager’s mature personality increases their chances of fulfilling expectations regarding the ever-increasing and more complex demands of their role.

There is some ambivalence with regard to how to improve strategic management of organizations. On the one hand, the example of big companies emphasizes the need for formalization and good organization of strategic management process. On the other hand, the example of small companies draws attention to such qualities as entrepreneurship, flexibility and adaptability. The concept of strategic management maturity embraces both of these priorities. In this paper, a framework for strategic management maturity has been designed. Strategic management maturity was defined as a resultant of: strategic management process maturity and leadership maturity. Theoretical framework was tested on a sample of 150 Polish enterprises.

Purpose: The fundamental objective of this article is to discern whether business model maturity is perceived through the prism of the ability to deal with unexpected challenges, overcome unprecedented threats, and use emerging business opportunities (agility) or – perhaps – more as a feature of the organization, which makes a business model less vulnerable to unpredictable external changes or sets it in a better position to make it respond effectively to these changes (flexibility). Methodology: The reconnaissance of opinions requires the creation of a catalog of desiderata that significantly identify agility and flexibility. Theoretical and design layers will use a method of reconstruction and interpretation of the subject literature supported by a discussion within a group of deliberately selected experts. This will be reflected in a set of parameters, on the one hand, characteristic of the categories of agility and flexibility and, on the other hand, reflecting business model maturity. Findings: The conducted research allows us to state that mature business models – as implemented by the surveyed companies – are perceived rather through the prism of the strategic ability of enterprises to quickly adapt to unforeseen and sudden changes on the market (agility category). Originality: The article includes not only academic postulates of agility or flexibility but also practical tips that enable constructing guidelines for decision-makers and managers of the agricultural machinery sector. The study carries a charge of a theoretical and empirical study. It takes into account knowledge and expert experience.

Człowiek jako osoba zasługuje na poszanowanie jego godności. Dotyczy to również sfery seksualnej, która zdaje się w naszej kulturze coraz bardziej zdeprawowana. Tymczasem uświadomienie sobie ogromnej wartości czystości otwiera oczy zwłaszcza młodemu człowiekowi, gdy zauważa, że jej zachowanie staje się „receptą” na szczęśliwe życie, związek, rodzinę i samopoczucie. Dzieje się tak, gdyż nie można odseparować ciała od świadomości człowieka, tym samym nie jest możliwe odizolowanie czynności od psychiki, która im towarzyszy. Często nieodpowiedzialne współżycia seksualne nie są tylko przygodą, ale zostawiają niezatarty ślad w duszach i umysłach młodych ludzi na całe życie. Niewątpliwie warto jest podkreślić, że czystość jest darem Bożym, który umacnia też miłość między ludźmi. Ostatecznie Chrystus naucza, że „błogosławieni czystego serca, albowiem oni Boga oglądać będą” (Mt 5, 8).
Man, as a person deserves respect for his dignity. This also applies to the sexual sphere, which seems more and more depraved in our culture. Meanwhile, realizing the great value of purity opens the eyes especially to the young man when he notices that her behavior becomes a “recipe” for a happy life, relationship, family and well-being. This is because the body can’t be separated from the human consciousness, thus it is not possible to isolate the activity from the psyche that accompanies it. Often irresponsible sexual intercourse is not just an adventure, but it leaves an indelible mark on the souls and minds of young people for life. Undoubtedly, it is worth emphasizing that purity is a gift of God, which also strengthens the love between people. Ultimately, Christ teaches that “blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God” (Mt 5, 8).

The article is focused on the relation between Stanisław Brzozowski and Cyprian Norwid, one that is important for comprehending Polish culture and literature. Brzozowski could not meet Norwid in person, and his fascination was exclusively the fascination of a reader, but the deliberations presented here are not limited to the perspective of reception or to research on the influence. I am trying to describe the connection between the two authors as an encounter, because many of their intuitions – concerning the social world, the role of an individual in history, the coexistence of life and literature – coincided. A dynamic model of encounter allows pointing to the personalistic-dialogical way Brzozowski treated Norwid's work. I have decided to make “maturity” the key word of this article, and this is for two reasons. Firstly, Brzozowski provided one of his most significant books, Idee (Ideas), designed to be an introduction to “philosophy of historical maturity”, with an epigraph taken from Norwid's Garstka piasku (A Handful of Sand). The epigraph does not have a decorative function, but it foretells and programs reflection. Secondly, both the authors ponder over what maturity should be in the historical, anthropological and philosophical planes. In the light of the issue of maturity the community of thought between Norwid and Brzozowski appears not only as a community of common answers, but – first of all – as a community of basic and fundamental questions.

The maturity of the priests’ faith is closely related to his spiritual maturity, and his conscious participation in the Priesthood of Jesus Christ. In his relation to Jesus, the priest defines his identity, develops his bonds with God the Father and the Holy Spirit – that is with the Trinitarian God. Following Christ, the priest loves the community of the Church and all the people, as those for whom Christ died. The spiritually mature priest is capable of spiritual recognition to distinguish the inspiration of the Holy Spirit from the Satanic influences in his own heart, in the world and in the Church. Coming along the path of the faith means one has to trust and love God more and more, and accept the need for continuous growth.

The term ‘innovation capability’ has been used recurrently in the innovation literature, but there is still considerable divergence about its meaning and implication to organizations. A consensus exists that, to innovate, organizations must possess innovation capability, and that the ownership of this feature is not a binary process, but rather an evolutionary level process. This evolutionary logic is analogous to the basic structure of organizational maturity models. However, the literature integrating innovation capability into a maturity perspective is still limited. Considering these premises, from a broad bibliographical research, this article presents a framework of reference to represent the entire theoretical domain of innovation capability. Its purpose is to classify the main types of models about this construct available in the reference literature. It is organized at increasing levels of complexity, so that each level creates the conceptual conditions for the construction of more comprehensive models. Similar to the main use cases for maturity models, there are three basic levels for the framework: descriptive; comparative; and, finally, prescriptive models of innovation capability. Considering this cumulative framework, the authors argue that, to be fully understood, innovation capability should be studied using the perspective of maturity models.

The theme of old age is presented only occasionally by Latin authors who wrote their works in Gallia in the 5th and 6th centuries after Christ. The term „old man” is first and foremost a man of advanced age. Nowhere, however, a limit of old age is defined. Usually one can find a reference to a man still vital, though bearing the hallmarks of loss of strength and fitness. Old age is sometimes linked up with infirmity. Nowhere, however, one talks about any special care that these old people or the old with symptoms of old age need. In a positive sense old age means a person who has experience and authority. People of the Church who enjoy respect are often described in this way. Reaching old age understood in this sense was seen as an expression of God`s blessing.

In the text, the author presents old age and the process of ageing in relation to axiologically perceived “maturing” category which is transgressing, in the assumed meaning, the biological aspect. The author examines ageing as the process of maturing to fullness of humanity, manifested in reaching transcendental values. Ageing perceived in this way is compared to the chosen conceptions of ageing. The author analyses ageing as maturing from a holistic and biographic perspective; as a result of activity of a conscious subject and the process of learning. The author also includes the axiological approach to ageing as maturing in the field of geragogical reflection as a subdiscipline of pedagogy.
W tekście autorka ujmuje szeroko rozumianą starość w odniesieniu do aksjologicznie pojmowanej kategorii dojrzewania, wykraczającej w przyjętym znaczeniu poza aspekt biologiczny. Rozpatruje więc starzenie się jako proces dojrzewania do pełni człowieczeństwa, wyrażający się w osiąganiu transcendentalnych wartości. Tak pojmowane starzenie się autorka odnosi do wybranych koncepcji starości. Analizuje je jako dojrzewanie w ujęciu holistycznym i biograficznym, jako wynik aktywności świadomego podmiotu i procesu uczenia się. Włącza aksjologiczne ujęcie starości jako dojrzewania w obszar refleksji geragogiki jako subdyscypliny pedagogicznej.

Sposób zarządzania współczesnymi łańcuchami dostaw oraz kształtowania relacji uzależniony jest od wielu czynników. Koncepcja zrównoważonego rozwoju wpływa na sposób nawiązywania i utrzymywania tych relacji. Skutkuje to zarówno pozytywnymi rezultatami, jak i wyzwaniami, którym muszą sprostać przedsiębiorstwa. Zrównoważony rozwój oznacza dla biznesu wzięcie odpowiedzialności za wszystkie procesy i decyzje podejmowane w całym łańcuchu dostaw, aby uzyskać długookresowe cele przedsiębiorstwa projektującego dany łańcuch. Istotnym czynnikiem, mającym wpływ na możliwość tworzenia i zarządzania zrównoważonym łańcuchem dostaw, są relacje. Zarządzanie relacjami wydaje się podstawą tworzenia stabilnego i ciągłego łańcucha, który przejawia cechy dojrzałości. Celem artykułu jest przybliżenie problematyki dojrzałości jako cechy warunkowanej relacjami, która determinuje stopień osiągnięcia założeń zrównoważonego rozwoju w łańcuchu dostaw. Całość rozważań zilustrowana została studium przypadku opracowanym na podstawie badań własnych autorki.
There are many factors that may have an influence on the method by which a supply chain is managed and the way the relationships among all its links are developed. Sustainability, as a complex and challenging concept, affects the approach to establishing and maintaining relations, extending their scope and scale. Next to the traditional understanding of relations in a supply chain, additional goals emerge, resulting in both positive effects and challenges which its different links need to face. The concept of sustainability means that a business organisation takes on shared responsibility for the whole supply chain to achieve its long‑term goals. Relationships are an important factor affecting the ability to create and manage a sustainable supply chain. Relationship Management seems to be the basis for the creation of a stable and continuous chain which presents characteristics of maturity. The aim of the article is to introduce the issue of maturity which determines the degree of achievement of sustainable development objectives in a supply chain. A case study based on the author’s own research will be presented.

Encounter as a philosophical category comprises a lot of various types of relations and configurations of a man with another man. In Poland in the last twenty years of the 20th century and later there developed a flourishing environment of philosophers who examined the problems of interpersonal encounter in the spirit of the synthesis of phenomenology and personalism. The Polish philosophers of encounter came to a few essential findings referring to the subject of encounter considered in the comprehensive and general way. The article attempts to apply the general philosophical issue worked out in this trend so to consider the problem in more detailed way. The essential question is: can the findings of the Polish philosophy of encounter be useful to examine the relations in the family environment for the effectiveness of fulfilling the educational function towards children by the family? The author proves that some philosophical settlements can actually be used in such a research area.
Spotkanie [encounter] jako kategoria filozoficzna obejmuje wiele różnorodnych typów relacji i konfiguracji człowieka z człowiekiem. W Polsce w ostatnich 20 latach XX wieku i później rozwijało się prężnie środowisko filozofów, wnikliwie badających problematykę spotkań międzyludzkich w duchu syntezy fenomenologii z personalizmem. Polscy filozofowie spotkania doszli do kilku znaczących odkryć i ustaleń, odnoszących się do całościowo i ogólnie ujętego tematu spotkania. Artykuł podejmuje próbę aplikacji ogólnej problematyki filozoficznej, wypracowanej w tym nurcie, do rozważenia bardziej szczegółowego problemu.
