- During own tests, the authors have developed own structures of antenna detectors based on RTDs, used for measurement of partial discharges in electric machines. The detectors can still measure the temperature. The author demonstrate high usefulness of RTD-type antenna systems in measurements of partial discharges in motors. Measuring instruments can be installed without stopping the motor, using factory-made temperature sensors and their take-offs located outside of the motor. The measurement of partial discharges by individual RTDs situated in motors enables to locate the place of partial discharge generation, i.e. the place where winding insulations are weakened. The authors suggest to include the aforementioned comments in design of new electric motors in order to ensure factory preparation of motors for such measurements.
