Opis:
Globalization processes and internationalization of business activities have an impact on management issues. Conducting business activity in the supra-national dimension forces the need for a different view of perceiving a number of phenomena. These issues are strongly emphasized by the authors in their article. They emphasize not only the complexity of the process of making managerial decisions, but also the need, even the necessity, of continuous improvement of competences by persons holding managerial functions. The study emphasizes the necessity of analysing the environment, as well as forecasting the development of the situation, especially in the longer term. In the presented description, the authors go beyond the conventional description, adding new issues and threads, emphasizing in particular the growing role of human capital in managing organizations, and - which has not been clearly emphasized - their deliberations focus on the European economic area.

The article discusses the topic of the motivation process, which appears to be important and complex from the point of view of the organization. No one today needs to be convinced about the extremely important mechanism of shaping interpersonal relations in a company by motivating. The importance of motivation is analysed at the level of both business entities and public organizations. In addition to imposing demands on the employee and issuing instructions, there are various, more or less visible ways of influencing the employee, which are aimed at increasing the efficiency of his work. There are no universal rules for building incentive systems that would work in every situation. So, what motivates you to perform your duties diligently? The prospect of receiving a reward or promotion, or maybe the spectre of punishment?

Opis:
The aim of the article is to identify challenges in managing multicultural teams, which, according to the authors, are extremely important in modern human resource management. This paper is based on literature studies and available reports. The authors prove that the challenges associated with the effective management of multicultural teams are very large, especially considering the stereotypes and prejudices related to the cultural diversity of employees and the diverse competences of managers who manage multicultural teams. The main value of the study is to clarify the need to raise the awareness of managers in terms of the development potential of multicultural teams, taking into account both their strengths and weaknesses, while pointing to the need for competence development in managers and their ability to build positive relations between representatives of different cultures.
W pierwszej części artykułu wyjaśniono pojęcia wielokulturowości i zarządzania międzykulturowego. W kolejnej części przedstawiono atuty i słabości pracy w wielokulturowych zespołach. Następnie opisano kompetencje i najważniejsze zadania menedżerów zespołów wielokulturowych, a w ostatniej części przeanalizowano wyzwania – trudności i problemy w zarządzaniu wielokulturowymi zespołami.

Corporate culture is a combination of strategic business perspective and human resource management, resulting in the adequate behavior of managers and employees. On the one hand, it can be a source of strength of the organization and the bearer of its competitive advantage; on the other hand, it might impede the development of the organization or even could be the source of its destruction. The aim of this paper is to present the results of the research in the selected corporate culture of spa enterprises in Northeastern Slovakia, and to assess its impact on increasing the motivation of executives and managers.

Objectives There is a need for up-to-date research on health-care and social managers’ work well-being. The purpose was to develop a questionnaire for measuring health-care and social managers’ subjective work well-being and to determine whether their background factors are connected to their work well-being. Material and Methods The authors developed a questionnaire based on their previous health-care and social managers’ work well-being framework. It covers 5 separate categories: 1) individual factors, 2) social factors, 3) professional support from one’s own manager, 4) organizational factors, and 5) work-related factors. Using statistical methods, the authors examined the questionnaire’s internal validity, its fit with the framework, and the connections between several background factors and work well-being. The survey data (N = 281) were collected from South Osthrobothnia and Central Osthrobothnia in Finland. Results The questionnaire’s internal validity was good, and it fit rather well with the authors’ previous framework. Managers’ work well-being was highest for the category of “professional support from one’s own manager” and lowest for “organizational factors.” The authors found connections between different categories of work well-being and a) years of managerial experience, b) level of management, and c) occupational group. Conclusions The questionnaire gives a holistic view of managers’ work well-being and is suit- able for measuring work well-being in the social- and health-care context. An examination showed that there is a need to improve the individual situations of the social- and health-care managers. The questionnaire can be used to assess managers’ work well-being and to build a knowledge base for developing organizational policies.

In the world pervaded with moral crises, unethical practices not only in the private and public sector but also in various charity organisations and cultural institutions, where one faces a loss of values and authorities, a question arises about the reasons for such occurrences. Simultaneously the need for developing tools helping to diminish the effects of unethical undertakings and eventually prevent them from emerging at all, comes into being. The main purpose of the presented paper is to convince that introducing ethics, social responsibility, and anti-corruption policies in higher education programmes accounts for a significant and undoubted tool that may bring positive results for both individuals and societies in the future. Such programmes will develop managerial competences that will play an even more important role than hard skills and acquired knowledge. The authoresses support the thesis with an example of a good practice based on a case study of a programme introduced at one of the Polish universities educating future managers for public administration. In the conclusions the authoresses will underline the necessity of educating responsible, conscious, and ethical managers especially for public sector institutions as well as they will suggest the paths for further research in this area.

Research background: According to the EU agenda, CSR should be considered an integral element of the current organizational strategy, including SMEs. While the debate continues about the optimal approach for successful CSR adaptation in SME, yet there is a need to shed light on the impact of owner-manager?s demographics on CSR practices. Purpose of the article: The paper aims to examine whether owner-manager?s demographics (age, gender, education) matter for the implementation of CSR or not. Methods: The study is based on a questionnaire filled in by owner-managers of SMEs operating in Czechia (454) and Slovakia (368). Factor analysis and nonparametric methods are used to test the hypotheses. Findings & value added: This study shows that the relationships between CSR and owner-manager?s demographics are not alike between Slovakia and Czechia. Compared to owners, the evidence shows that the Czech managers are more oriented toward the CSR practices, while in Slovakia there is no difference. Such finding can be explained by Hofstede culture difference. In addition, analysis demonstrates that female Slovaks are more oriented to CSR than men, while it is not true in Czechia. Moreover, Czech individuals who graduated in the same field as their business are more oriented to the CSR, whereas in Slovakia this is not. In addition, young and old Slovak entrepreneurs are more oriented to the CSR than those 35-55 years old, manifesting a U-shape type of relationship. The originality of this work is manifested by the fact that it enriches the literature since it is among the first studies to analyze the relationships between owner-manager?s demographics and CSR in the SME segment for Czechia and Slovakia.

Purpose: The main purpose of the research was to analyze and evaluate the effectiveness of the communication process with employees on the example of the Kaufland Polska branch located in the Mazowieckie Voivodeship. A complementary goal was to identify the most important managerial tasks and skills in this area. Design/methodology/approach: The article presents a theoretical approach to internal communication based on the literature, while the own research allowed for the analysis and evaluation of this process. The survey method was used, in which the research technique was used in the form of an interview according to the developed questionnaire. Findings: Communication between the manager and employees is two-way and there is feedback, both sides show commitment and show an open attitude to make the process effective. Employees assessed the current internal communication process and the functions performed by the manager in this process very positively, however, they are also able to notice shortcomings related to communication. Research limitations/implications: The study was conducted among all employees of only one branch of Kaufland Polska. An additional limitation was the epidemiological situation in Poland caused by covid-19, which made it impossible to apply an additional research method – a participant observation method that would enrich the results obtained in the main study. Practical implications: In order to improve the internal communication process, the manager should encourage employees to express their opinions and suggestions on topics related to their job position, team communication or observed problems. It is important that the manager cares about the quality and continuous improvement of the communication process and his own interpersonal skills, so that there are as few communication barriers as possible. Originality/value: The communication process should be tailored to the specificity of the organization. It is completely different in a small enterprise than in a large hypermarket chain, where there are teams of employees in various positions, working in shifts, often with customers present and under time pressure. The obtained research results made it possible to assess the current internal communication process, and the application of the formulated guidelines will certainly improve the communication process and increase employee involvement, and ultimately the quality of service and customer satisfaction.

Opis:
The effi ciency of operation of hierarchical organisations (military, police, State Fire Service, Border Guard, etc.) is largely derived from the effectiveness of the work of commanders (managers) at all levels. It is they who indicate the goals of the activity, assign tasks to subordinates and coordinate their work. At the same time, they have the personal, material, fi nancial, and information resources necessary to perform the assigned tasks. Therefore, it seems important to properly understand the role and tasks that commanders/managers perform in hierarchical organisations. The necessity to take up this issue results mainly from the change in the scope of tasks and the structural and organisational changes of these formations (the army, the Police of the State Fire Service). The increasingly broader spectrum of tasks set for our army, police and fi re brigades results in a permanent modifi cation in the fi eld of skills and qualifi cations of modern commanders. In the process of analysing these changes, one should take into account the scientifi c basis derived from the chievements of the theory of organisation and management as well as one’s own solutions and experience in this area. The article presents selected aspects of the role and tasks of modern commanders (managers) as well as shortcomings in the organisation of work by a manager/commander. Hence, after defi ning the role of the commander, their tasks in the form of duties and powers are described. Effi cient and effective operation of commanders requires a number of activities and specific skills. Therefore, the description of activities and leadership skills is a logical complement to the chapter. Moreover, the essential functions and roles performed by commanders are highly correlated with the basic roles of managers in civil organisations. Therefore, the analogies between the work of commanders and the work of managers in civil organisations were also taken into account.

The requirements placed on modern entrepreneurs – managers – leaders of organisations – are extremely high, and their fulfilment does not guarantee exclusively successes. They guide people who need to be taught and prepared above all: to work in their occupied positions, to live in society, as well as to bring people closer together and to focus on each other. Employees can be different, strong and weak, proud and humble, curious about the world and despite their different ages, apathetic. All of them, due to the work of managers and their competences, knowledge and skills become good employees at different levels of the organisation and then managers. However, the basis of the manager's work is also, or maybe above all, communication skills, which are based on negotiations.
Pracownicy bywają różni, są silni i słabi, pełni pychy i całkiem pokorni, ciekawi świata i mimo różnego wieku, pogrążeni w apatii.

In the current circumstances, creation of a model of innovation manager competencies appears to be an important scientific and practical task of ensuring the innovative development of the economy. Identification of future needs in competencies enables the education system to adapt elaborately the process of professional training of innovative personnel and increase the competitiveness of educational programs. The following paper summarizes and examines the existing models of competencies and skills based on bibliometric analysis of published works and content analysis of documents in Scopus and Web of Science, two leading databases. Studied were the competencies of the managerial profession on junior and middle management levels engaged in innovation activities, which includes the following: assessment of the commercial potential of innovations; operational planning and organizing management of innovation activities; management of all stages of the innovation project; working with partners in the innovation market; control of measures to promote innovations in the market, etc. An approach to form a model of competencies of an innovation manager has been proposed in the form of an ordered list of five groups: professional, functional, digital, socio-cultural and cognitive competencies. The paper uses foresight methodology to determine the future demand for competencies and areas of professional innovative training. The authors analyze the potential of foresight methodology and study of future in the development of innovation management competencies. First and foremost, an attempt has been made to assess the level of training and significance in practice for managers of 61 competencies through a large-scale national survey of innovation experts working in Kazakhstan companies. The researchers consider modern methods of training and developing the competencies of innovation managers. For this purpose, the study has been supplemented with in-depth interviews.
W obecnych warunkach stworzenie modelu kompetencji menedżera innowacji wydaje się ważnym zadaniem naukowym i praktycznym zapewnienia innowacyjnego rozwoju gospodarki.
