    The objective of this article is to try to determine the levels of implementation and the use of modern technologies in selected areas of internal transport and storage. This is primarily due to the very high dynamics of the environment and the increasing level of customer centricity that forces companies to systematically search for new, innovative and competitive solutions, particularly in logistics chain. Such solutions are particularly desirable in strategic areas of logistics, that is: storage and handling. Hence, modern companies increasingly more often decide to implement state-of-the-art solutions that would not only improve the functioning of the entire organization, but first and foremost would bring about competitive advantage on the market.

    Nowadays, service providers offer a lot of IT services in the public or private cloud. Clients can buy various kinds of services, such as SaaS, PaaS, etc. Recently, Backup as a Service (BaaS), a variety of SaaS, was introduced there. At the moment, there are several different BaaS’s available to archive data in the cloud, but they provide only a basic level of service quality. In this paper, we propose a model which ensures QoS for BaaS and some methods for management of storage resources aimed at achieving the required SLA.This model introduces a set of parameters responsible for an SLA level which can be offered at the basic or higher level of quality. The storage systems (typically HSM), which are distributed between several Data Centers, are built based on disk arrays, VTL’s, and tape libraries. The RSMM model does not assume bandwidth reservation or control, but rather is focused on management of storage resources.

    W artykule omówiony został przykład usprawnienia dostępnej przestrzeni magazynowej przedsiębiorstwa. W części teoretycznej opisano najważniejsze zagadnienia dotyczące strefy składowania magazynu oraz sposobów rozmieszczenia regałów i zapasów. W części praktycznej krótko scharakteryzowano badaną firmę oraz zidentyfikowano istotne problemy występujące na magazynie. Następnie zaproponowano szereg zmian, które pozytywnie wpłynęły na jego funkcjonowanie, w tym efektywność zachodzących w nim procesów.
    Paper discusses an example of improvement the available storage space in enterprise. In the theoretical part describes the main issues concerning the storage area of the warehouse and arrangements of shelves and inventories. In the practical part shortly characterized the company and identified significant problems occurring in stock. Then proposed several changes, which significantly improved the functioning of the warehouse.

    The article addressed the issues related to the process approach, so any actions aimed at estimating the quality of the enterprise, as well as at documenting the whole company. The process approach is one of 8 principles of the quality management that involves measuring problems and solving them by improvement. The entire process is based on a logical action in order to meet customer needs. Within the central modern warehouse there has been used the modern delivery monitoring program to ensure an even distribution of the assortment line. Obviously, not everyone sees only the benefits in centralization, but also the risks. And there is really no golden mean, but there is only the best solution as such. The key benefits and risks associated with centralization and the emergence of distribution centres should be divided on the basis of those creating benefits for the manufacturer, supplier and the company of the distribution centre. The basis of each company is that of the process. The activities of the organization are considered and analyzed in the framework of the quality management system including the processes occurring in the enterprise.

    Celem artykułu jest próba określenia poziomu wdrożenia i wykorzystania koncepcji 5S jako jednej z metod optymalizacji gospodarki magazynowej w przedsiębiorstwie produkcyjnym BMI Icopal. Główny nacisk położono na identyfikację procesów w zakresie implementacji i stosowania metody 5S przez pracowników działu magazynowania. Wynika to przede wszystkim z bardzo dużej dynamizacji otoczenia oraz zwiększającego się poziomu konkurencyjności, która wymusza na przedsiębiorstwach systematyczne poszukiwanie optymalizacji na wszystkich poziomach funkcjonowania. Takie rozwiązania są szczególnie pożądane w obszarze magazynowania. Dlatego też, współczesne przedsiębiorstwa coraz częściej decydują się na wdrażanie nowoczesnych metod, które nie tylko powodują usprawnienia w funkcjonowaniu danego działu, ale przede wszystkim budują przewagę konkurencyjną na rynku poprzez efektywność kosztową.
    The objective of this article is to determine the level of implementation and use of the 5S concept as one of the methods of warehouse management optimization in BMI Icopal production company. The main emphasis was placed on the identification of processes in the implementation and use of the 5S method by the employees of the storage department. This is mainly due to a very dynamic environment and increasing competitiveness, which forces companies to systematically search for optimization at all levels of functioning. Such solutions are particularly desirable in the area of warehousing. Therefore, modern companies more and more often decide to implement modern methods, which not only cause improvements in the functioning of the department, but above all build a competitive advantage on the market through cost efficiency.

    Author explains a necessity of supply optimization to construction sites with small storage areas. This paper takes account of conditions existing in Poland. From among all factors discussed by the author, first of all, we should point at construction works on plots located in densely built-up areas, obtained by demolition of existing buildings, as well as a necessity of plots utilization after demolished buildings that technical conditions do not allow for further exploitation.
    Autor, w swojej pracy naukowo-badawczej, stara się opracować procedurę, która usprawniałaby zarządzanie stosunkowo niewielkim placem budowy. Jest to zagadnienie o tyle skomplikowane, że w związku z małą działką, kierujący budową dysponuje niewielką powierzchnią składowania lub czasami w ogóle takowej nie posiada do swojej dyspozycji. W tym artykule autor analizuje czynniki powodujące powstawanie wspomnianych wyżej placów budowy w dużych ośrodkach miejskich na terenie Polski. W oparciu o pozyskane dane statystyczne oraz historyczne autor formułuje wnioski, które potwierdzają nasilanie się zjawiska, jakim jest praca na stosunkowo niewielkich placach budowy. Dzięki potwierdzeniu faktu zwiększania liczby niewielkich działek budowlanych położonych w stosunkowo gęstej zabudowie, autor otrzymuje informację zwrotną potwierdzającą celowość jego pracy nad procedurą usprawniającą zarządzanie niewielkim placem budowy.
