The paper is devoted to the problem of robust stability of positive linear discrete-time systems with delays in the case of structured perturbations of state matrices. Simple new necessary and sufficient conditions for robust stability in the general case and in the case of system with linear uncertainty structure are established for two sub-cases: 1) unity rank uncertainty structure, 2) non-negative perturbation matrices. It is shown that robust stability of the positive discrete-time linear system with delays is equivalent to: 1) robust stability of the corresponding positive system without delays of the same order as time-delay system - in the general case, 2) asymptotic stability of finite family of the positive vertex systems without delays - in the case of a linear unity rank uncertainty structure, 3) asymptotic stability of only one positive vertex system without delays - in the case of a linear uncertainty structure with non-negative perturbation matrices.

Opis:
Positively invariant sets play an important role in the theory and applications of dynamical systems. The stability in Lyapunov sense of equilibrium x = 0 is equivalent to the existence of the ellipsoidal positively invariant sets. The constraints on the state and control vectors of dynamical systems can be formulated as polyhedral positively invariant sets in practical engineering problems. Numerical checking method of positive invariance of polyhedral sets is addressed in this paper. The validation of the positively invariant sets can be done by solving LPs which can be easily implemented numerically. The effectiveness of the proposed checking method is illustrated by examples. Compared with the now existing algebraic methods, numerical checking method is attractive and, importantly, easy to be implemented.

The asymptotic stability of the convex linear combination of continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is considered. Using the Gershgorin theorem it is shown that the convex linear combination of the linear asymptotically stable continuous-time and discretetime linear systems is also asymptotically stable. It is shown that the above thesis is also valid (even simpler) for positive linear systems.

In this paper,we consider an infinite dimensional linear systems. It is assumed that the initial state of system is not known throughout all the domain Ω C Rn, the initial state x0 ϵ L2(Ω) is supposed known on one part of the domain Ω and uncertain on the rest. That means Ω = ω1 U ω2 U... U ωt with ωi ∩ ωj = ∅, ∀i ≠ j ϵ {1,...,t}, i ≠ j where ωi ≠ ∅ and x0(θ) = αi for θ ϵ ωi, ∀i, i.e., x0(θ) = [wzór] (θ) where the values α1,...,αr are supposed known and αr+1,...,αt unknown and 1ωi is the indicator function. The uncertain part (α1,...,(α)rof the initial state x0 is said to be (ɛ1,...,ɛr )-admissible if the sensitivity of corresponding output signal (yi)i≥0 relatively to uncertainties (αk)1≤k≤r is less to the treshold ɛk, i.e., ∥∂yi)/(∂αk∥ ≤ ɛk, ∀i≥ 0, ∀k ϵ {1,...,r]. The main goal of this paper is to determine the set of all possible gain operators that makes the system insensitive to all uncertainties. The characterization of this set is investigated and an algorithmic determination of each gain operators is presented. Some examples are given.

Conditions for the positivity of linear electrical circuits composed of resistors, coils, condensators and voltage (current) sources are established. It is shown that: 1) the electrical circuit composed of resistors, coils and voltage source is positive for almost all values of their resistances, inductances and source voltages if and only if the number of coils is less or equal to the number of its linearly independent meshes, 2) the electrical circuit is not positive for any values of its resistances, capacitances and source voltages if each its branch contains resistor, capacitor and voltage source, 3) the positive n-meshes electrical circuit with only one inductance in each linearly independent mesh is reachable if all resistances of branches belonging to two linearly independent meshes are zero 4) the electrical circuits of the structure shown on Fig.5.2 is reachable if and only if the condition (5.11) is satisfied.

We survey the so-called behavioral approach to systems and control theory, which was founded by J. C. Willems and his school. The central idea of behavioral systems theory is to put the focus on the set of trajectories of a dynamical system rather than on a specific set of equations modelling the underlying phenomenon. Moreover, all signal components are treated on an equal footing at first, and their partition into inputs and outputs is derived from the system law, in a way that admits several valid cause-effect interpretations, in general.

The stability problem of continuous-time linear systems described by the state equation consisting of n subsystems with different fractional orders of derivatives of the state variables has been considered. The methods for asymptotic stability checking have been given. The method proposed in the general case is based on the Argument Principle and it is similar to the modified Mikhailov stability criterion known from the stability theory of natural order systems. The considerations are illustrated by numerical examples.

A dynamical system described by homogeneous equation is called pointwise complete if every final state can be reached by suitable choice of the initial state. The system which is not pointwise complete is called pointwise degenerated. Definitions and necessary and sufficient conditions for the pointwise completeness and the pointwise degeneracy of continuous-time linear systems of fractional order, standard and positive, are given. It is shown that: 1) the standard fractional system is always pointwise complete; 2) the positive fractional system is pointwise complete if and only if the state matrix is diagonal.

The paper considers the stability problem of linear time-invariant continuous-time systems of fractional commensurate order. It is shown that the system is stable if and only if plot of rational function of fractional order, called as the generalised modified Mikhailov plot, and does not encircle the origin of the complex plane. The considerations are illustrated by numerical examples.
