    Opis:
    The main purpose of the paper is the proposal of multi-level simulation, suited for the evaluation of the lifetime of critical electronic devices (electrolytic capacitors). The aim of this issue is to imagine about the expected operation of complex and expensive power electronic systems, when the failure of the most critical component occurs. For that reason, various operational conditions and various physical influences must be considered (e.g. mechanical, humidity, electrical, heat stress), where nonlinearities are naturally introduced. Verification of the proposal is given, whereby the life-time estimation of an electrolytic capacitor operated in a DC-DC converter during various operational conditions is shown. At this point electrical and heat stress is considered for lifetime influence. First, the current state in the field of mathematical modeling of the lifetime for electrolytic capacitors, considering main phenomena is introduced. Next, individual sub-models for multi-level simulation purposes are developed, including a thermal simulation model and electrical simulation model. Several complexities of individual models are mutually compared in order to evaluate their accuracy and suitability for further use. Proper simulation tools have been mutually linked and data transfer was secured, in order to have the possibility of investigation of a lifetime depend on the changes of various variables.

    Opis:
    In statistical process control, record schemes are used to reduce the total time on test for the inspection inquiry. In these schemes, units are examined sequentially and successive minimum values are recorded. On the basis of record data, Samaniego and Whitaker (1986) obtained the maximum likelihood (ML) estimate of the mean for an exponential distribution. Since the two parameter Weibull model, as an extension of the exponential distribution, has a wide range of application, Hoinkes and Padgett (1994) derived the record-based ML estimators for the parameters of interest in this model. This paper shows that the ML estimates of the Weibull parameters do not always exist for the basis of records. Thus, a new scheme is proposed, in which the ML estimates of the parameters always exist. An analytic cost-based comparison between the usual and the New scheme is also carried out. Finally, some concluding remarks and open problems are formulated.

    W demografii jak też naukach aktuarialnych od dawna trwa dyskusja na temat tego, czy istnieje uniwersalne prawo opisujące proces wymierania populacji. Od wielu lat czynione są próby znalezienia takiego prawa. Mimo że proponowano wiele funkcji żadna z nich nie opisuje wystarczająco dokładnie rozkładu empirycznego. Trudność tkwi w tym, że populacja ludzka jest niejednorodna i do opisu umieralności trzeba stosować mieszankę różnych rozkładów. W pracy przedstawiona jest próba opisania długości życia populacji mężczyzn polskich w roku 2009 za pomocą mieszanki rozkładów Gompertza, Weibula, gamma i lognormalnego. Parametry rozkładów oraz wagi mieszanki wyznaczone będą metodą minimum chi-kwadrat.
    For a long time demographers and actuaries have been deliberating the issue of the laws of life. A number of proposed survival functions turned out to be unsatisfactory when they were applied empirically. One of the ways to overcome the difficulties is to modify the general survival functions by introducing an additional formula characterizing the frailty of individuals. Another way is to use a mixture of appropriate distributions. In this contribution the latter approach to determine the survival time of men in the Polish population in 2009 is applied.
