Opis:
Scots pine stands are the most important forest type in Poland and the differentiation of the natural vegetation in these forests is well known. However, the intensive utilization causes the formation of the secondary communities, so that further studies of the vegetation diversity should be carried out with taking into consideration stand age and homogeneity of site conditions. The aim of this work is to assess the diversification of plant communities across the gradient of tree stand age. Scots pine stands on oligotrophic sites of the Przymuszewo Forest District were examined with dividing into six age classes ( 10, 11−20, 21−40, 41−60, 61−80, 81−120 years old). Numerical analysis allowed to differ 4 plant communities: non−forest community of Placynthiella−Cladonia sp. div. related to young stands before crown closure ( 10 years old), secondary forest community of Pinus sylvestris−Cladonia subulata related to young stands just after crown closure (11−20 years), forest communities of Leucobryo−Pinetum variant with Cladonia and typical variant – both related to stands older than 20 years. The identified communities differ in terms of species richness and vertical structure, but they are repetitive combinations of species which can be classified within hierarchical syntaxonomical system. They show common features with the communities of south−western Poland, but differ from plant communities of managed Scots pine forest in the continental part.

Opis:
It has been proposed that artificial gaps are to be established in young pine stands by cutting an appropriate number of trees around the centres of infection (1−3 dying trees) and introducing Phlebiopsis gigantea to stumps. The treatment limits or significantly reduces root rot effects in trees and the risk of dis− ease development that may follow. The initiation of the biocoenotic nature of changes in pine monocultures ensures stand conversion (reconstruction) supported with the processes of natural succession.

Opis:
Permanently balanced forest economy demands today a resignation from a constant model of the forest stand, which preferred the productive function of the forest, mostly without any consideration to its natural values formed by Mother Nature. Implanting on Polish grounds principles of multifunctional forest districts acknowledged as a breeding object of the whole forest ecosystem, giving in that way the forest economy a proecological dimension. Its a result from a general progress of civilization and achievements in forest science; reaching towards the needs and expectations from the society gaining a general acceptation from different environments. One of the fundamental elements implementing the ecosystem is to rebuild deformed and artificially barred forest phytocenosis. This refers especially to pure pine stands on habitats, in which trophoism potential explains breeding habitats species variety. A good help for the forester in this area can be a natural succesion of good, noble broad−leaved species like for example the oak. Succesion of this species takes on a special meaning in poor habitats, in which it without any special imposes enriches the biocenose with the whole positive outcome accompanying this process; it can also be a valuable clue to the potential fertility in the habitat and the complexity in the forest vegetation community. An important task is to lead the way for the oaks development from succesion to its fullest use as a natural presence in creating the future forest generation. The article below is devoted to this question describing the natural up growth of the oak in pine stands on the coniferous forest habitats in Forest District Różanna and the methods and results in which they are used for breeding.

The paper contains the results of the analyses of four properties (average tree height, average dbh, standing volume, average stand volume growth) of pine stands growing on poor sites in the territory of the Polish Lowlands. The comparison of four relative values of the analysed properties among four 20−year age classes was performed. The obtained results were referred to the level of industrial pollution.
