    Opis:
    The paper presents different approaches to the issue of the taxonomic status of Gilpinia hercyniae (Hartig) from the time of the first description of this species till present. In the light of approaches found in literature the author presents results of his own studies, which permit to verify the existing data and consider Gilpinia polytoma (Hartig) synonymous to Gilpinia hercyniae (Hartig).

    Opis:
    The paper contains results of the provenance−family experiment with three provenances and 24 families. The studies focused on the height of trees at the age of 3 to 11 years. The genetic variance of 3−year−old seedlings participated in up to 44% to the total variance. In subsequent years, this participation was close to zero due to the decline in participation of environmental variance after outplanting. At the age of 9 years, the genetic component of the variance was noted again. Depending on the provenance the heritability for the height trait at the age of 9 to 11 oscillated from near zero (provenance from Zalesie) to 0.61 (provenance from Tronçais).

    Opis:
    The objective of this paper is to review the criteria and indicators currently used for the assessment of forest management and to compare them with the criteria and indicators recommended in the economic literature. There are discrepancies between the types of indicators proposed in the economic literature and those applied in practice, which often result from the adoption of different concepts of sustainability and/or definitions of the welfare. It appears advisable to supplement the set of natural criteria and indicators with economic ones, so that the ability to self−finance the forest economy should not be forfeited.
