Opis:
The aim of this paper is to analyze the terms of the subjects of acts in law in Chinese legal language. Morphologically, Chinese is an isolating language. It also uses a non‑alphabetic writing system. Creating the terms of the subjects of acts in law is governed by fairly strict language rules; however, there are numerous exceptions that may be misleading for the translator. These terms are commonly used, among others, in the civil law contracts and therefore are an important element of the legal language, also used by non-specialists (e.g. parties to the contract). The analysis of particular terms has allowed to identify the aforementioned general rules in the legal language, as well as to find some exceptions. The research material included the civil law acts (General Principles of Civil Law of the PRC, new General Provisions of Civil Law of the PRC, the Contract Law, and the Inheritance Law – in modern Chinese law, as yet, no unified civil code has been adopted, therefore its role is played by the general law and the so-called satellite laws). The study is complemented by the comparison of the Chinese legal terms and their suggested Polish equivalents, which can be a valuable help for translators.

Opis:
Due to the importance of observing procedural deadlines, phrases expressing temporal relationships show specific features. These are high turnout, templateness, the ability to develop temporal formulas in the form of collocation chains, the specific distribution of language means depending on the branch of law and the connectivity of the leaders of these phrases. The comparison of temporal formulas in Polish and German law showed significant interlingual differences. They are the main reason for translation difficulties in this area. Confrontative analysis of published translations of selected legal acts revealed significant disadvantages of the translation strategies used in them. It also confirmed the value of micro-comparisons for translational purposes.

Opis:
The article analyses relationship between language of normative acts and situation of irregular immigrants. This case study will be limited to three elements that seem most characteristic and representative of the situation where the law becomes an instrument of social exclusion – namely: stigmatization, categorization and euphemism. In this context will be presented problem of use in the text of legal acts terms such as: "illegal immigrant" or “prohibited immigrant” or “illegal alien”. This terminology is not only stigmatizing, but dehumanize and categorize migrants as dangerous people. Additionally this issue should be viewed in strict connection with growing number of penal sanctions in the field of migration law. In this way, the perception of irregular immigrants is shaped by the use of criminal terminology negative climate and language of “war with irregular migration”, which were present in many official texts. The second side of this mechanism is application of euphemistic terminology as regard to coercive measures especially to immigration detention. It is noteworthy to mention about differences between actual situation of detained migrants and names of detention centers, suggesting that foreigners stay there in freedom conditions.
