Opis:
The real estate cadastre is the primary source of information on land use. It re cords information related to the division of land into types based on the actual way of land use or development. The distinguished types of land use depend on many geographical factors, as well as historical and economic conditions. The study presents a comparison of the detail of land use classification registered in the real estate cadastre in areas functionally related to the urban areas of 9 European countries: Austria, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Germany and Poland. The research concerned the determination of the degree to which the classification of land use in urbanized areas is detailed, whether the studied European countries are characterized by the same number of distinguished classes of ob jects at different levels of detail, and what percentage are the distinguished classes of land use objects in urbanized areas in relation to all of the distinguished classes of objects land use at different levels of detail of classification. The study used legal acts regulating land use issues which have been made available in national languages by government institutions.

Opis:
The article deals with the research on the quantitative classification of land use, which directly affects the amount of land use data collected in the real estate cadastre. For the purpose of this article, the cadastral systems of seven European countries – Austria, Bulgaria, Estonia, Spain, Lithuania, Germany and Poland – have been examined, taking into account how detailed is the classification in agricultural and forest areas. The research covered the provisions of legal acts applicable in the researched seven European countries and made available in national languages by the government bodies. The article asks the following three questions: 1) whether the researched countries adopted the same approach to isolating classes of items related to agricultural and forest areas; 2) whether the researched countries feature the same number of classes of items recorded at various levels of detail; 3) what is the percentage of the distinguished item classes of land uses in the agricultural and forest areas in relation to all of the distinguished item classes at all the levels of detail. The conducted research can be used as a material supporting works consisting of the modernization of the functioning of land registration in the real estate cadastre in Poland.

The basin of the Służewiecki Stream, hydrologically uncontrolled, is urbanised, but it has a mosaic-like character, consisting of urban and agricultural land use. This is shown by the graph of the basin and its subcatchments that takes into account the changes of the runoff coefficient in its subcatchments. The land cover changes in 1993–2002 and the forecast for the years until 2012, together with the calculated rainfall hyetograph are input elements to the rainfall-runoff model. The isochrone method with the Kirpich equation constitute the transforming function, and the runoff hyetographs are the output elements from the system. The paper presents also practical problems occurring in the implementation of the recommendations of the local spatial plan as well as consequences resulting from disregarding the recommendations.
Niekontrolowana hydrologicznie zlewnia Potoku Służewieckiego o powierzchni zlewni wynoszącej 55 km2 jest w 51% zurbanizowana. Charakteryzuje się nadal mozaikową strukturą użytkowania miejskiego i rolniczego. Obrazuje to wykres trójkątny rozwinięcia zlewni (dopływy prawe i lewe) uwzględniający zmiany współczynnika odpływu w zlewniach cząstkowych. Opis:
Many cities in developing countries are experiencing ecosystem modification and change. Today, about 10 million hectares of the world’s forest cover have been converted to other land uses. In Nigeria, there is an estimated increase of 8.75 million ha of cropland and decrease of about 1.71 million ha of forest cover between 1995 to 2020, indicating that Nigeria has been undergoing a wide range of land use and land cover changes. This paper analyses the changes in land use/cover in Ila Orangun, Southwestern, Nigeria from 1986 to 2018, with a view to providing adequate information on the pattern and trend of land use and land cover changes for proper monitoring and effective planning. The study utilized satellite images from Landsat 1986, 2002 and 2018. Remote sensing and Geographical Information System techniques as well as supervised image classification method were used to assess the magnitude of changes in the city over the study period. The results show that 26.36% of forest cover and 44.48% of waterbody were lost between the period of 1986 and 2018. There was a rapid increase in crop land by 365.7% and gradual increase in built-up areas by 103.85% at an annual rate of 3.25%. Forest was the only land cover type that recorded a constant reduction in areal extent. The study concluded that the changes in land use and land cover is a result of anthropogenic activities in the study area.

Opis:
A flood occurs for many reasons, such as excessive rainfall, runoff coefficient, or an insufficient river channel capacity. The discharge flowing through the floodway depends on the maximum main river dimension that can be normalized. LU/LC changes are affected by runoff discharge, and runoff discharge is affected by the floodway design. The study discusses the effect of land use (LU) or land cover (LC) changes and the design of floodway channel dimensions in the Kali Kemuning watershed, East Java Province, Indonesia. The Nakayasu synthetic unit hydrograph has been used to analyse the runoff discharge, and the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s River Analysis System software analysed the hydraulic properties of river and floodway channels. Results show that the floodway channel design is determined by LU/LC conditions, and the river channel is normalized toward its maximum dimensions. Normalized channel depths and widths vary from 4 to 7 m and 16 to 46 m, respectively. The floodway channel is rectangular, with a bottom width of 10 m and depth of 4.5 m. With the runoff coefficient equal to 0.75, these normalized channel and floodway dimensions are suitable for the flood up to the 100-year return period runoff discharge.

Timely and accurate detection of land use/land cover (LULC) change is important for the macro and micro level sustainable development of any region. For this purpose, geospatial techniques are the best tool for change analysis as they supply timely, cheaper, precise and up to date information. This paper examines the spatial temporal change trend in LULC in the case of Central Haryana. Landsat 2, 3, 5, 7 and 8 images for the years 1975–2020 for pre and post monsoon periods were analyzed for the study. Radiometric correction was performed to derive better information. ArcGIS 10.2 and ENVI 5.3 are used for thematic layout and thematic change preparation. An unsupervised classification using ERDAS IMAGINE 2015 has also been done to classify study area in eight classes. The year 1975 is considered as the base year for change detection analysis. Results showed an increasing trend for the land use classes of built up, water body, and agricultural land without waterlogging in the pre and post monsoon periods between 1975 and 2020. Remaining land use classes of agriculture with waterlogging, open waterlogged area, vegetation and fallow land/sand dunes decreased during the same period. Increased human activities have changed the LULC in the region and have had a great impact on its sustainable regional development.

Opis:
In order to analyze the impact of land use and land cover change on land surface temperature (LST), remote sensing is the most appropriate tool. Land use/cover change has been confirmed to have a significant impact on climate through various aspects that modulate LST and precipitation. However, there are no studies which illustrate this link in the Fez-Meknes region using satellite observations. Thus, the aim of this study was to monitor LST as a function of the land use change in the Saïss plain. In the study, 12 Landsat images of the year 2019 (one image per month) were used to represent the variation of LST during the year, and 2 images per year in 1988, 1999 and 2009 to study the interannual variation in LST. The mapping results showed that the land use/cover in the region has undergone a significant evolution; an increase in the arboriculture and urbanized areas to detriment of arable lands and rangelands. On the basis of statistical analyses, LST varies during the phases of plant growth in all seasons and that it is diversified due to the positional influence of land use type. The relationship between LST and NDVI shows a negative correlation (LST decreases when NDVI increases). This explains the increase in LST in rangelands and arable land, while it decreases in irrigated crops and arboriculture.

The aim of the paper is to present automated methods of discrimination of urban development forms using object-oriented classification in high-resolution images taken by the Ikonos satellite. The object-oriented classification makes possible to describe individual classes using not only the spectral reflection values but also the shapes, textures and topology of objects. The classification process as such is based on the theory of fuzzy sets. The research covered an area of 25 km,., situated in central Warsaw. As a result of object-oriented classification, five classes of development typical of large cities were distinguished and described.

Opis:
W artykule przedstawione są wyniki klasyfikacji obiektowej zdjęcia satelitarnego SPOT, o rozdzielczości przestrzennej 20 m. W klasyfikacji zastosowano zasady postępowania zbliżone do stosowanych w metodzie tzw. drzewa decyzyjnego. W sumie rozpoznano 13 klas. Końcowy wynik klasyfikacji został opracowany z zastosowaniem procedury generalizacji mającej na celu uzyskanie danych spełniających kryterium jednostki odniesienia o wielkości 4 ha. Całkowita dokładność klasyfikacji wyniosła ponad 89%.
The paper presents results of object-oriented classification of whole 20-meter resolution SPOT scene covering the Kujawy region. The classification approach applied in this work was similar to that used in the so-called decision tree method. The main land cover classes were identified in a sequence of independent processes, assuming that each subsequent process deals solely with objects not classified yet. Another assumption was to implement rule-based approach rather than the Standard Nearest Neighbor classifier (available in eCognition software). In this approach, contents of satellite image were characterized by various spectral/texture parameters directly describing individual land cover/land use classes; in addition, by pre-defined functions, determined on the basis of graphical analysis of feature space constructed for particular terrain objects were used. The classification process begins with recognition of water class the objects of which were delineated using multiresolution segmentation. New segmentation is prepared for the remaining land cover classes. Subsequently, the general forest class and the urban class are discriminated; at the next stage, both classes are divided into sub-categories. Consequently, broad agricultural and grassland classes are determined. At the second stage of classification, more detailed classes are discriminated within the general land cover categories: wetlands, orchards, urban green areas, construction sites, and deforestations. Overall, 13 land cover/land use categories were discriminated in the work presented. The final classification map was prepared using the aggregation procedure to obtain a map resolution fulfilling the 4ha size of Minimum Mapping Unit. The accuracy was assessed using the method of randomly distributed points; the number of points assigned to each class for checking was proportional to the acreage of that class. The overall accuracy of all classes checked in the verification process reached 89%. The method presented was applied to two other test sites in Poland: the regions of Podlasie and Wielkopolska. Despite differences in land cover/land use patterns, both regions were classified with a comparable, high accuracy.

Opis:
Land surface temperature (LST) estimation is a crucial topic for many applications related to climate, land cover, and hydrology. In this research, LST estimation and monitoring of the main part of Al-Anbar Governorate in Iraq is presented using Landsat imagery from five years (2005, 2010, 2015, 2016 and 2020). Images of the years 2005 and 2010 were captured by Landsat 5 (TM) and the others were captured by Landsat 8 (OLI/TIRS). The Single Channel Algorithm was applied to retrieve the LST from Landsat 5 and Landsat 8 images. Moreover, the land use/land cover (LULC) maps were developed for the five years using the maximum likelihood classifier. The difference in the LST and normalized difference vegetation index (NDVI) values over this period was observed due to the changes in LULC. Finally, a regression analysis was conducted to model the relationship between the LST and NDVI. The results showed that the highest LST of the study area was recorded in 2016 (min = 21.1°C, max = 53.2°C and mean = 40.8°C). This was attributed to the fact that many people were displaced and had left their agricultural fields. Therefore, thousands of hectares of land which had previously been green land became desertified. This conclusion was supported by comparing the agricultural land areas registered throughout the presented years. The polynomial regression analysis of LST and NDVI revealed a better coefficient of determination (R2) than the linear regression analysis with an average R2 of 0.423.

The aim of the study was to characterise and analyse the changes in the structure of the natural environment in the municipality of Pelplin, located in the Pomeranian province in northern Poland, in the years 1972-2014. The study is based on the analysis aerial photographs and cartographic materials. The specific objectives of the work was to re-create the land cover status in 1972 and 2014 and provide a graphical representation of changes in the land cover at the beginning and end of the analysed period. In effect, a differential map was produced. To sum up, the range of surface changes in the various categories of land use / land cover in relation to the space they occupied in 1972 should be ranked in the following order: grassland, areas with a transport function and roads, watercourses and reservoirs, built-up areas, plantings and bushes , forests , arable land. The only category which reduced its surface area included arable land, whereas other categories recorded an increase. Overall, the changes included 11.5 km2, i.e. 8.3 % of the municipality.

The article presents results of an analysis of changes to the landscape in zones directly bordering with Central European cities of medium size. Authors have designated and analysed 57 zones as buffers contained within a radius of 30 km from the administrative city boundaries. Transformations of the landscape were determined on the basis of three indicators showing the fragmentation of the land use forms, distortions of area patches with different land uses, and an increase in the diversification of functions. The data adopted for the study originated from CORINE Land Cover, determined for two points of time i.e. the years 2006 and 2012. The obtained results indicate that the changes to the landscape, identified on the basis of the selected indicators, are strongly linked to the increase in the size of urban areas. The analysis also showed a clear differentiation between cities situated in Central European countries.

Całość wykonano w technologii GIS z wykorzystaniem oprogramowania ESRI.
Forest area in West Pomerania has been changing intensively during last centuries. However, the biggest changes took place at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. The goal of the study is the analysis of the changes in woodiness in West Pomerania in the years 1618-2006 on the basis of available series of historical and contemporary topographic maps and existing official basis of spatial data created with the use of similar scale. Forest area changes were examined within the borders of West Pomerania defined in the first analysed historical material – Eilhard Lubinus Map (1618). For all elaborated states of forest ranges forest surface structure were also analyzed with the application of selected landscape indices: the number of patches (NumP), total edge length (TE), mean shape index (MSI) and fractal dimension (FD). The whole study was performed in GIS technology with the application of ESRI software.

Opis:
Urbanization directly affects the existing infrastructure, landscape modification, environmental contamination and traffic pollution especially if there is lack of urban planning. Recently, the rapid urban sprawl has resulted in less developed green areas and has devastating environmental consequences. This study was aimed to study the past urban expansion rates and Measure LST from satellite data. The Land use land cover (LULC) maps of years 1996, 2010, 2013, and 2017 were generated using Landsat satellite images. Four main classes i.e. water, urban, bare land and vegetation were identified using unsupervised classification with iterative self-organizing data analysis (isodata) technique. The LST from satellite thermal data can be derived from different procedures:atmospheric, radiometric calibrations and surface emissivity corrections, classification of spatial changeability in land-cover. Different methods and formulas were used in the algorithm that successfully retrieves the land surface temperature to help us study the thermal environment of the ground surface. To verify the algorithm, the land surface temperature and the near-air temperature were compared. The results showed that, From 1996-2017 urban areas increased to about considerable increase of about 48%.few areas of city also shown in reduction in LST from year 1996-2017that actually began their transitional phase from rural to urban LULC.Mean temperature of city increased averagely about 1ºC each year in the month of October. The green and vegetative areas witnessed a decrease in area while higher number of pixels increased in urban class.

Opis:
The aim of this study is to reconstruct land use on the floodplain of the changes in the valley was based on archival materials, such as the plan of the Wisła valley from the mid-18th c., and the Prus-sian and Austrian topographical maps from the 1860s. As the analysis of land use changes in the floodplain of the Mała Wisła valley indicates, in the years 1754-1860 the biggest change referred to the area of forests and shelterbelts, because in a hundred years it decreased three times, i.e. from 3.18 km2 to 1.05 km2. Other big changes include a diminished number and area of fish ponds, as well as smaller surface of the hydrographic network. The layout and area of low density dwellings remained almost unchanged, as a reported increase in the surface area of this form of land use was only by about 0.4%. Significant changes in the surface of ponds and water reservoirs took place in the 1950s, when a dam reservoir was built in Goczałkowice. Its caused an increase the ponds and reservoirs surface to 23.45 km2, which is over 64.7% of the grounds.
