The paper is dedicated to the Knowledge Management Information Systems (KMIS) as support tools for knowledge workers (KWs) activities. The general aim of the paper is to analyze the currently used systems and find out whether they meet all the requirements of KWs in the Knowledge Management (KM) process. To clarify the subjects of the research, the notions KWs and KMIS are presented in the form of concept maps. To specify the demands of KWs as for the software tools that assist them in the process of KM, the typology of KWs tasks was developed. Operation of the KMIS is examined from the point of view of their compatibility with the tasks and actions performed by KWs – in order to enhance functionality of the existing systems. The systems are divided into groups, each of them matched with a particular KM task. A case study of the open-source platform Moodle is given as a justification of the fact that support quality of KMIS presently requires improvements

Opis:
The article presents the issues related to knowledge management by using the integrated management information systems. The aim of the article is to develop the manner of cognitive agent's perceptual memory implementation. The agents run in the prototype of integrated management information system, named CIMIS, which is used in knowledge management process in business organizations. CIMIS is based on the LIDA cognitive agent architecture. The paper draws attention to the business processes integration with the use of the information systems. Using such research methods as literature study, case study and computer simulation, the authors present how to use a topic map standard for perceptual memory implementation. This is very important module of agent's architecture responsible for proper recognition of an object, categories, activities and events occurring both in external and internal agent's environment. The solution presented in this paper allows for automatic interpretation, by an agent, of the phenomena occurring in the enterprise's environment. It has a positive impact on the process of knowledge management. Since the topic map is an international standard, it allows to achieve an interoperability of different information systems.

Celem artykułu jest przedstawienie współczesnych koncepcji zarządzania, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem zarządzania wiedzą i zarządzania informacjami. W pierwszej części artykułu przedstawiono istotę zarządzania rozwojem firmy oraz determinanty rozwoju, takie jak: potencjał przedsiębiorstwa, otoczenie, finansowanie rozwoju, koncepcje zarządzania rozwojem przyjęte w firmie oraz powiązanie ich ze strategią przedsiębiorstwa. W części drugiej pokazano w oparciu o studia nad literaturą oraz na podstawie dotychczasowych doświadczeń praktycznych na ile stosowanie tych nowych rozwiązań faktycznie sprzyja rozwojowi przedsiębiorstw oraz jakie nowe kierunki rozwijają się w tym obszarze.
The aim of this article was to present some modern conceptions of the management, with particular attention paid to subject oriented conceptions, especially to the managing of knowledge or information. The first part of the paper presents the essence of company development management, determinants of the development, such as direct and indirect environment, the potential of a company, the trends in the management of company development and source of finance for the company development. The second part of the paper conveys the review of selected conceptions used in the above-discussed areas, while close attention has been given to further possibilities of their applications, taking into consideration constantly changing external conditions.

This contribution concerns the problems of information system in the broadest meaning of the word and the approaches and methods used to analyse it. This work examines how they are percepted in present days and what is their mutual relationship. Anyway, many analytic instruments and methods ́ results give the similar output as our motto. This contribution emphasizes the importance of the holistic comprehension of the term “information system” and the importance of its general quality in relation to principles of modern management.

Today, sharing knowledge requires taking into account many aspects. Variable environmental conditions, the people factor, and the security of resources are just a few that should be considered for a noticeable improvement in the functioning of the company. Supporting this course of action requires the identification of all barriers that may exist in the enterprise. Only the owner and senior management by establishing system and organizational changes can influence this element of the business. The aim of the article is to indicate the problems in this respect that block the proper functioning of the company in the field of information and knowledge exchange. The survey was conducted with the help of a questionnaire among 189 respondents. The industry has significantly decreased in the last few decades, currently there are 307 companies operating in Poland. Conclusions from the conducted research were collected on the basis of a questionnaire survey. The further stage of the research will be to compare the collected results with the results from Western European countries.

Wyjaśniono terminy broker informacji, infobroker, społeczeństwo informacyjne, szum informacyjny. Przedstawiono krótką historię początków infobrokerstwa. Omówiono najistotniejsze międzynarodowe organizacje i stowarzyszenia związane z infobrokerstwem. W artykule zaprezentowano charakterystykę kompetencji i umiejętności osoby trudniącej się pozyskiwaniem informacji. Opisano ofertę edukacyjną polskich uczelni kształcących przyszłych brokerów informacji.
The article presents the impact of the development of information technology for the collection, processing and sharing of information. The impact of cyberspace and the Internet on the development of modern information sector is discussed. The following terms are explained: information broker, infobroker, the information society, information noise. A brief history of the origins of information retrieval is presented, and the most important international organizations and associations related to information retrieval are discussed. The article presents the characteristics of the competencies and skills required in persons engaged in acquiring information. The educational offer of Polish universities educating future information brokers is also described.

Background: In large-scale corporations in the software engineering context information overload problems occur as stakeholders continuously produce useful information on process life-cycle issues, matters related to specific products under development, etc. Information overload makes finding relevant information (e.g., how did the company apply the requirements process for product X?) challenging, which is in the primary focus of this paper. Contribution: In this study the authors aimed at evaluating the ease of implementing a semantic knowledge management system at Ericsson, including the essential components of such systems (such as text processing, ontologies, semantic annotation and semantic search). Thereafter, feedback on the usefulness of the system was collected from practitioners. Method: A single case study was conducted at a development site of Ericsson AB in Sweden. Results: It was found that semantic knowledge management systems are challenging to implement, this refers in particular to the implementation and integration of ontologies. Specific ontologies for structuring and filtering are essential, such as domain ontologies and ontologies distinct to the organization. Conclusion: To be readily adopted and transferable to practice, desired ontologies need to be implemented and integrated into semantic knowledge management frameworks with ease, given that the desired ontologies are dependent on organizations and domains.

The dynamically changing environment forces companies to introduce changes in production processes and the need for employees to adapt quickly to new tasks. Therefore, it is expected to implement solutions to support employees. The system that will manage the work on a manufacturing line should work in real time to support the ongoing activities and, to be implemented in SMEs, must not be expensive. The authors identified important system components and expected functionalities. The methodology of the work is based on humancentered design. A concept of a cyber-physical system is proposed. The aim of the proposed edge computing-based system is to manage the work on the manufacturing line in which certain elements communicate with each other to achieve common goals. The paper presents what the system can consist of, how information and knowledge are managed in the system, and what can be the benefits for enterprises from its implementation.

This research aims to investigate the effect of the information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation and their implication to firm performance. The methodology of this research was explanatory research with hypothesis testing for examining seven hypotheses. The study populations were small medium enterprises located in DKI Jakarta, with a sample size of 392 SMEs. Data for this study were collected using questionnaires, and structural equation modeling (SEM) was employed for data analysis. The results of this research were as follows: (1) Information communication technology readiness positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (2) knowledge management positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (3) information communication technology readiness and knowledge management positively and significantly influenced entrepreneurial strategic orientation; (4) information communication technology readiness positively and significantly influenced firm performance; (5) knowledge management positively and significantly influenced firm performance; (6) entrepreneurial strategic orientation positively and significantly influenced firm performance; and (7) information communication technology readiness, knowledge management, and entrepreneurial strategic orientation positively and significantly influenced firm performance. The mediating effect of entrepreneurial strategic orientation increased the effects of information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on firm performance. The results of this research indicate that the effect of information communication technology readiness and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation, information communication technology readiness, and knowledge management on entrepreneurial strategic orientation on firm performance of SMEs of Jakarta. All of seven hypotheses that are proposed in this research can be accepted. Information communication technology readiness as an independent variable was the strongest influence on entrepreneurial strategic orientation, and entrepreneurial strategic orientation was the strongest influence on firm performance. This dissertation also discusses the findings and limitations, theoretical and practical contribution, theoretical and managerial implications of the study, and suggestions for future research.

Jej ogrom oraz nieskończone zasoby sprawiają, iż musi być ona w sposób mądry i skuteczny zarządzana i właściwie wykorzystywana przez kompetentnych, mądrych ludzi. Na wiedzy zostało zbudowane tzw. społeczeństwo informatyczne, którego ekspansja jest coraz trudniejsza do przewidzenia. Pewnym natomiast jest fakt, że wiedza dobrze wykorzystana może zapewnić nieprawdopodobny rozwój cywilizacyjny współczesnego świata. Istnieją także określone zagrożenia w tym względzie, które mogą spowodować zastąpienie ludzkiej pracy przez automaty, tym samym zostanie pomniejszona rola człowieka w określonych sferach ludzkiej działalności. Czy tak będzie na pewno? – nie jesteśmy w stanie tego przewidzieć. Natomiast rozważania futurologiczne zawsze niosą ze sobą pewną dozę prawdopodobieństwa. Istnieje coraz większe niebezpieczeństwo, że wiedza wykorzystywana będzie w złych celach, przez ludzi którym przyszłość ludzkości jest obojętna. O tym aspekcie także autorzy w niniejszym artykule sygnalizują.
The article shows the significance of knowledge as a natural asset nowadays and, more importantly, in the near future. Owing to its abundance as well as infinite resources, it is required that knowledge is managed in a wise and efficient fashion and used by competent and wise people. Knowledge has constituted the basis for the creation of the so-called information society, the expansion of which is more and more difficult to predict. It is known for a fact, however, that knowledge that has been made good use of may ensure phenomenal civilization development of the contemporary world. There are also specific threats related to this issue which may result in substituting automatic machines for human work and eventually diminishing the role a human being plays in specified areas of human activity. How likely is it to happen? This we cannot foretell. This fact notwithstanding, futurological deliberations invariably offer some amount of probability. There is an increased risk that knowledge will be misused by the people indifferent to the future of humankind. This aspect is also mentioned by the authors of the article.

Today, the majority of resources are available in digital forms to acquire information. We have to search through collections of documents. In this paper text indexing which can improve searching is described. Next, indexing tool, the Agrotagger, which is useful for documents in the field of agriculture, is presented. Two available versions of the Agrotagger are tested and discussed. The Agrotagger is useful only for the English language despite the fact that it uses multilingual thesaurus Agrovoc. Because of the Agrotagger is not useful for texts in Polish, it is important to create similar tool appropriate for the Polish language. The problems connected with extensive inflection in languages such as Polish language in the process of indexing were discussed. In the final part of the paper, it is presented design and implementation of a system, based on the Polish language dictionary and the Agrovoc. Additionally some tests of implemented system are discussed.
