In this paper, the problem of entering the labour market by young people, in particular graduates, will be discussed. Obstacles and problems relating to the transition from education to career will be presented. Using the Central Statistical Office (GUS) data concerning Poland, the Silesian Voivodeship and the city of Bielsko-Biała, an attempt will be made to give an insight into the notion of unemployment itself. The author has also explored the concept of unemployment, which is presented on the basis of the data obtained from the Central Statistical Office on Polish, Silesian province and the city of Bielsko-Biała. The main objective of this work is to present the concept and the level of unemployment in the city of Bielsko-Biała by comparing the situation in the Silesian Voivodeship with the whole country. Apart from that, the feasible assistance of state-run institutions, including job centres, will be showed as well as the present legal aspects of the problem. The methods used in this paper include statistical devices pertaining to the unemployment in Poland. The theory being substantiated is that those poorly educated are the high-risk group in the context of becoming unemployed.

In the present article the results of the author's own research relating of job seeking were presented. The article makes up a presentation of outcome of some part of the author's research project in the field of unemployment and methods of looking for job. The research was made in 2013. The research objective was identification of relations between place of residence and evaluation of factors facilitating and/or making it difficult to find job, evaluation of characteristics of easier-to-find or more difficult-to-find jobs, methods of looking for job as well as assessment of the phenomenon of 'friends-in-high-places' and support. As part of the studied issues the author tried to answer the following questions: Is there a relationship between a place of residence and evaluation of factors facilitating and/or making it difficult to find job? Is there a relation between a place of residence and evaluation of characteristics of easier-to-find or more difficult-to-find jobs? Is there a relation between a place of residence and methods of looking for job, including the use of 'friends-in-high-places' and support?

The word burn out, comes from English “to burn”, which means burning and the words “out” from, out, out. Thus, the phrase “burn-out” is an expression of burnout or extinction. The original fire and the ignition of the symbol-psychologically high level of motivation goes to the person affected by the symptoms of burnout syndrome into extinction, where there is nothing, which means where he has nothing to worry about. For the Burnout Syndrome, there is as yet no generally accepted definition. Herbert Freudenberger first described this syndrome in 1975. The most important feature is chronic work-related stress and the imbalance between occupational expectation and professional reality, between ideals and reality. The burnout syndrome is the total burnout of human energy (and energy reserves) at the mental, physical and spiritual level in connection with the exercise of the profession. Burnout is formally defined as a state of physical, emotional and mental exhaustion that has caused long-term persistence in situations that are emotionally challenging. This emotional difficulty occurs when great expectations are combined with chronic stress (Křivohlavý, 2012 p.18). The International Classification of Diseases advises burnout syndrome under ICD 10, category Z 73.O entitled Problems associated with difficulties in organizing life that have psychological, physical symptoms and symptoms in the plane of social relations. The severity of the burnout syndrome is currently up to date with both its content and its increase. “Our legislation does not define this disease in any category of legal norms, it does not recognize it as a diagnosis and we do not have one case law or legal argument developing the process or condition caused by the burnout syndrome” (Šoltésová, Ivor, 2006, s.20). In Spain and the United States of America, burnout syndrome is recognized by law as an occupational disease.

ObjectivesThe authors characterized the demographic, socioeconomic, and psychosocial work factors associated with performance of unskilled manual work, and then identified the modifiable psychosocial work factors that affected the psychological well-being of these workers.Material and MethodsThis study analyzed data from the fifth Korean Working Condition Survey conducted in 2017. The study subjects were 37 081 Korean employees. The occupational classes investigated were: managers, professionals, and clerks; service and sales workers; and skilled or unskilled manual workers.ResultsUnskilled manual workers were more likely to be elderly and less educated, to have low income, to work fewer hours weekly, to have a shorter work duration, to perform temporary or daily jobs, and to report poor subjective health and well-being. Unskilled manual workers were also more likely to experience psychosocial hazards, such adverse social behaviors, a lack of job satisfaction, a lack of support from managers, and a poor social climate. However, with statistical adjustment for demographic, socioeconomic, and psychosocial work factors, unskilled manual work was no longer associated with poor psychological well-being, but psychosocial work factors were associated with poor psychological well-being.ConclusionsThe poor psychological well-being of unskilled manual workers cannot be explained by the intrinsic nature of this type of work. Instead, the poor psychological well-being of these workers is associated with unfavorable psychosocial work factors, such as a poor employment status, a lack of job satisfaction, a lack of support from managers, and a bad social climate. These results thus suggest that the modification of psychosocial work factors may improve the psychological well-being of unskilled manual workers.

This paper provides a possible answer to the question of why so few people with disabilities enter the labor market. Introductory remarks on the importance of work and being employed in human life are followed by different definitions of disability. By reference to the basic facts about employing people with disabilities in Poland, the author identifies and examines the obstacles that make it difficult for a disabled person to get a job. Along with architectural barriers in the workplace and unfavorable attitude of the employers, there is another factor that narrows down the range of job offers available to disabled individuals: an average level of education in this group of people, comparing to others, is lower. As a consequence, job and life opportunities for this social group remain significantly limited.

Not only students themselves but also the universities or higher schools they study at should be responsible for their professional success in the job market and be equally interested in the question of how to meet the challenge they may soon face with. The solution to that problem may also be found in students’ internship realized in the period of studies. This paper presents the results of the research conducted to learn what students of English and Applied Linguistics think about the methods of teaching they are offered, the curricula and professional internship. Moreover, it describes the way in which the internship mentioned is realized in the State School of Higher Professional Education in Płock. At the same time the paper tries to answer the question whether the form of internship offered meets the expectations of those eager to look for their future career in the field of professional translation practice.

This paper presents the situation of young people on the labour market in Poland and in selected European Union member states. With the overall improvement observed on the labour market, the situation of young people in Poland and in many other EU countries has also improved in recent years. The aim of this paper is to identify the most important issues concerning the functioning of young people on the modern labour market, as well as analyzing the unemployment and employment rates observed for young people in Poland and in selected European Union member states. The analysis was carried out in the first part of the study. The reflection on the phenomena of devaluation of higher education diplomas and the prolonged period of education, which result in young people entering the labour market much later than they used to in the past is also crucial. The second part of this paper is devoted to the NEET community, which consists of young people who refuse to work, learn or train. The statistics, subgroups of NEETs and risk factors that increase the likelihood of being included in this category are discussed. It should be emphasized that people do not always become NEETs of their own free will. A situation in which an individual feels discouraged and unmotivated to engage in any activity, whether in the sphere of work or in the sphere of education, is largely conditioned by some social, cultural, institutional and economic factors. The final part of this paper presents the social and economic consequences of a significant number of young workforce being professionally inactive.

W pierwszej części artykułu zaprezentowano teoretyczne założenia odnoszące się do zagadnień związanych z pracą zawodową, a w szczególności do oceny satysfakcji z pracy. Zaakcentowano w niej złożoność problematyki i jej konsekwencje dla koncepcyjnych i operacyjnych wytycznych, istotnych w badaniach. Część druga to empiryczna ilustracja oceny pracy zawodowej wśród pracowników reprezentujących 25 krajów europejskich. Analizę porównawczą oparto na metodzie taksonomicznej (porządkowania liniowego, jak i nieliniowego), która pozwoliła sklasyfikować badane kraje pod względem oceny pracy zawodowej bazując na zagregowanych opiniach pracowników z poszczególnych krajów. Dane wykorzystane w analizie pochodziły z badań Europejskiego Sondażu Społecznego zrealizowanych w 2010 roku.
The first part the article presents theoretical assumptions relating to issues associated with professional work, and in particular to assessment of job satisfaction. It emphasizes the complexity of this matter and its implications for theoretical and empirical research. The second part is an empirical illustration of the evaluation work among employees representing twenty-five European countries. Comparative analysis is based on the taxonomic method (linear and non-linear), which allowed to classify the countries under study in terms of the assessment of work based on aggregated opinions of employees. The data used in the analysis comes from European Social Survey 2010.

An article Journalism – an occupation or profession shows the polemic about the problem whether to qualify journalism as profession. Author points the reasons for and against treating journalism as the profession. The author is especially focuses on the role and social mission associated with journal- ists. The first parts of the article concern the range of definitions of journal- ism as well as the areas and phases of its development. The following parts define the terms of occupation and profession and are the attempt to qualify journalism to one of those categories. Author analyses the matter in order to show the society and the journalists environment, what actions should be undertaken to make the rank of journalism higher and make it more professional.

The paper focuses on a topic concerning the students’ professional future. Students more often and more are prepared to leave the labor market. Celem pracy jest zarysowanie tematu profesji i kultury profesjonalnej w teorii organizacji i zarządzania oraz ukazanie ich istotnej roli w życiu poszczególnych osób, grup społecznych i organizacji. Artykuł przedstawia również interpretację zagadnienia profesji i profesjonalizacji w zarysie historycznym. Mimo że badania nad profesją i kulturą profesji były prowadzone już sto lat temu, to dopiero w latach osiemdziesiątych XX wieku zaczęto postrzegać kulturę zawodową oraz kulturę organizacji jako ważne dziedziny nauki o zarządzaniu. Różnorodność kultur poszczególnych grup społecznych może następować poprzez wspólnotę wykonywanej pracy i pozycję społeczną [Znaniecki, 1921].
This paper aims to outline the topic of profession and professional culture in the theory of organisation and management, and to emphasise their significant role in the lives of people, groups, and organisations. The author also presents an interpretation of profession and professionalisation from a historical perspective. Although research on profession and professional culture was already carried out one hundred years ago, it was only in the 1980s when professional culture and organisational culture came to be seen as important fields of management science. A diversification of the cultures of different social groups can be a result of shared work or the social position of their members [Znaniecki, 1921].

We consider a grid computational model which consist of a number of computation nodes and a number of users. Each user generates a computation load (jobs) requesting computational and communication resources. A deadline for each job is also defined. We propose a scheduling algorithm which is based on Iterated Prisoner's Dilemma (IPD) under the Random Pairing game, where nodes (players) of the grid system decide about their behavior: cooperate or defect. In this game players play a game with randomly chosen players and receive payoffs. Each player has strategies which define its decision. Genetic algorithm (GA) is used to evolve strategies to optimize a criterion related to scheduling problem. In this paper we show that GA is able to discover a strategy in the IPD model providing a cooperation between node-players, which permits to solve scheduling problem in grid.

Opis:
As from 2003, in the Republic of Croatia there are legal possibilities for the provision of social accommodation services for the elderly and seriously ill persons (for up to 20 beneficiaries) in family homes. This has enabled a completely new form of family entrepreneurship in the field of social welfare, which did not exist before, where the growth of supply and demand has been continuously recorded since then. The survey research, which included the total population of active family homes in the Republic of Croatia, successively in 2017, 2018 and 2019, has established their number and territorial distribution, capacity and number of users, price range, calculation of minimum total income, as well as the number and profiles of their employees, including engaged family members and external employees. Thanks to unsaturated and evergrowing demand for accommodation services, it turned out that the offer for family homes for elderly and seriously ill persons was present in all counties and by 2019 was increased to 400 active family homes and close to 6,000 users, with the prospect of further growth. It was found that, on average, more than 6 people were employed in a family home, in an approximate ratio of 2 family members to 4 external employees. Since family homes to a good extent engage the “unused” material and human resources that families have at their disposal (unemployed family members, existing facilities and equipment, and in rural households agricultural resources), the cost of a newly created job is relatively low. That makes this entrepreneurial activity even more important, especially because it is being developed in less developed areas, and is also an opportunity for people of lower employability (older people, people with lower educational status, women). It can be concluded that family homes are not a negligible factor in employment, now and in the future. The research has also revealed considerable differences in prices of accommodation services, as a result of their price adjustment to market requirements and purchasing power. It certainly also results in significant deviations in service quality and accommodation conditions. Since socially vulnerable groups are concerned, this will certainly require more systematic state supervision and greater investment by family home representatives in the future.
U Republici Hrvatskoj su se 2003. godine otvorile zakonske mogućnosti za pružanje socijalne usluge smještaja za starije i teško bolesne osobe (do 20 korisnika) u obiteljskim domovima. Taj novi vid obiteljskog poduzetništva u djelatnosti socijalne skrbi, koji ranije nije postojao, od tada do danas kontinuirano bilježi rast ponude i potražnje. Anketnim istraživanjem na ukupnoj populaciji predstavnika obiteljskih domova u Hrvatskoj, sukcesivno u 2017., 2018. i 2019. godini, utvrđen je broj i teritorijalna rasprostranjenost aktivnih obiteljskih domova, kapaciteti i broj korisnika, raspon cijena, minimalni ukupni prihodi te broj i profili radnika koje zapošljavaju, uključujući angažirane članove obitelji i vanjske zaposlenike. Zahvaljujući nesaturiranoj i trajno rastućoj potražnji za uslugom smještaja, pokazalo se da je ponuda obiteljskih domova za starije i teško bolesne osobe prisutna u svim županijama te da je do 2019. godine narasla na 400 aktivnih obiteljskih domova i blizu 6.000 korisnika, s perspektivom daljnjeg rasta. Ustanovljeno je da je prosječno u obiteljskom domu angažirano preko 6 osoba, u okvirnom omjeru: 2 člana obitelji i 4 vanjska zaposlenika. Budući da obiteljski domovi u dobroj mjeri angažiraju „neiskorištene“ materijalne i ljudske resurse kojima obitelj raspolaže (nezaposlene članove obitelji, postojeće objekte i opremu, u slučaju seljačkih domaćinstava i poljoprivredne resurse), cijena novootvorenog radnog mjesta je po prirodi stvari relativno niska. To ovu poduzetničku djelatnost čini još značajnijom, osobito jer se razvija i u manje razvijenim područjima i zapošljava i osobe niže zapošljivosti (nižeg obrazovnog statusa, starije, žene). Može se zaključiti da su obiteljski domovi nimalo zanemariv čimbenik otvaranja novih radnih mjesta i zapošljavanja, sada i ubuduće. Istraživanjem su ustanovljene i velike razlike u cijenama usluge, kao rezultat cjenovne prilagodbe tržišnoj potražnji i kupovnoj moći. To zacijelo rezultira i značajnim odstupanjima u kvaliteti usluge i uvjetima smještaja ove osjetljive skupine korisnika, što će ubuduće zahtijevati sustavniji državni nadzor i veća ulaganja predstavnika obiteljskih domova.
