Opis:: Extensivity of infection of Fasciola hepatica L. among cattle in Lublin's voivodship from 1993-2001. Aim of the work was to determine extensitivity of appearance of hepatica among catlle pul to slaughter in slaughtershouses in Lublin's voivodship from 1993 to 2001. Substance for the work was braught from the annual reports of official examination of slaughtered animals, reached from both main Inspectorate (department) of Veterinary in the Ministry of Agriculture and from Regional Institute of Veterinar's Hygiene in Lublin. Results of researches are as follow: extensivity of infection of Fasciola hepatica among cattle in Lublin and voivodship between 1993-1999 oscillates about 5%. In 2000 extensivity of invasion reached 10,9 %.

Opis:: Prevalence of intestinal nematodes in dogs from Warsaw region. Investigation of prevalence of intestinal parasites in dogs bave been conducted in order to protect human and animal health. The aim of the study was to establish species composition of intestinal parasites and to evaluate their prevalece in dogs from the shelter in Józefów situated on north from Warsaw. Additionally, urban dogs from Warsaw and village dogs from areas near the shelter, were examined. The prevalence of nematodes was: 62.3% in dogs from shelter, 37.5% in village dogs and 18.8% in urban dogs. In homeless dogs, the most common parasite was Uncinaria stenocephafa, then Trichuris vulpis and Toxarcaris leonina. In village dogs only eggs of U. stenocephala were detected; in urban dogs Toxocara canis and U. stenocephala were found.

Opis:: The studies on the development of queen bees experimentally infected with females of V. jacobsoni were carried out in 1983 and 1984. Fully formed queen cells were transferred from the hive to the laboratory. At the base of each cell, except for the control group (K 1) a 3 mm opening was made through which females of V. jacobsoni were inserted, collected from brood drone. One female of the mite was inserted into each queen cell for the experimental group I, two - of the group II, three - group III and four - group IV. The openings in the cells were then sealed with warm wax, and the cells were placed in Zander containers and in a thermostat, at the temperature of 34.5°C, and relative humidity ca. 80%. Unopened queen cells constituted the control group (K 1), as well as cells opened and then sealed with wax (K 2). Of 508 control and experimental queen cells, 234 queens emerged (46.1%), of these 90 (88.9%) of a wight 189.8 mg in the group K 1, 72 (86.7%) of weight 189.5 mg in the group K 2, 81 (75.7%) of weight 188.2 mg in the group I, 48 (55.2%) of weight 184.6 mg in the group II, 23 (31.5%) of weight 189.1 mg in the group III and 20 (29.4%) of weight 192.4 mg in the grup IV. The remaining queens died at the stage of straightened larva (99), prepupa (17) and pupa (36). The highest number of queens died in the experimental groups II-IV. The results obtained indicate that the development cycle of V. jacobsoni can not be completed in queen bee cells.

Opis:: Ceprologic examination of representatives of 9 monkey species carried out in the Wrocław Zoo revealed the folloving intestinal parasittes: Trichocephalus trichiurus, Strongyloides stercoralis, Nematodirus weinbergi, Ascaris lumbricoides, Enterobius vermicularis and Capillariidae gen. sp. The total extensity of infection was 80%, however intensity was rather low, except for E. vermicularis found in chimpanzees. It seems, that nematoda present the most important problem in control of parasitic infection in zoological gardens.

Opis:: The objective of the present study was to determine the incidence of internal parasites in dogs and cats owned by the employees of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn, and by students and their families, as well as in pets presented to veterinary clinics and in animals from shelters. The study, conducted from January to May 2008, involved 135 dogs and 35 cats. Feces samples were analyzed for parasites by flotation technique with the use of Darling’s solution, as described by Fülleborn. The highest percentage of parasite eggs was reported in feces samples collected from shelter dogs, including Toxocara and Toxascaris (9.1%), Uncinaria−Ancylostoma (12.1%) and Trichuris (12.1%), while in shelter cats the extensiveness of parasitic invasion was as follows: Toxocara cati – 61.5%, Toxascaris – 15.4%, Uncinaria−Ancylostoma – 7.7%, Isospora spp. – 7.7%. The lowest parasite incidence was observed among dogs and cats owned by veterinary students and members of their families. Of 20 examined animals, only one dog carried the eggs of Toxocara canis and one dog carried the eggs of Trichuris in their feces. Similar results were obtained in the group of pets owned by the employees of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine: among 6 dogs and 13 cats examined in the study, Toxocara eggs were detected in one cat only (16.6%). In the group of pets presented to veterinary clinics, comprising 77 dogs and 8 cats, feces samples taken from 11 dogs contained the eggs of Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria−Ancylostoma and Trichuris, while Isospora spp. oocysts were found in the stool of two cats.
