- The paper presents the definition of susceptibility to transport of fresh fruit and vegetables. Attention is paid to the characteristics of fruit and vegetables, which particularly affect the vulnerability of transport and storage. We discussed the possibility of using rail to transport fresh fruit and vegetables. It presents the most important conditions to be met so that rail transport could be effectively used for the transport of fresh fruit and vegetables. It presents the most important advantages and disadvantages of the use of rail transport to carry this type of product. Rail transport is referred to as the most environmentally friendly. It has been shown that rail transport can be used for the transport of selected species of fruit and vegetables, whose allowed transport time is sufficiently long. You should use appropriate rolling stock equipped with a refrigeration unit, a device for monitoring the position of the transport unit and the conditions inside the vehicle. Sometimes you should use the device to modify the composition of the atmosphere in the cargo space. Rail transport can be used especially for international long-distance, large amounts of fruits and vegetables.
