Currently we are witnessing migration, which for different reasons exhibits a growth tendency. It does not just concern big cities, but also smaller towns, where we can encounter people with different cultural backgrounds, religion, dialect, and values. Multicultural education comes out to meet the expectations of the minorities and its main purpose is to create a platform for dialog and communication, as well as the composition of educational programs and multicultural upbringing. The article explains the situation of refugees, with emphasis on the education and upbringing of children. It provided examples of multicultural education implemented in a small elementary school from a County of Bielsk.

In most societies disabled people are subject to taboo, in terms of laughing at their weaknesses, failures, inadequacies and differnt situations connected with their disability. However, they are becoming a more frequent ligtsome topic of different forms in mass culture (from television to the Internet) – interesting especially when they laugh at themselves. The article deals with the situations of laughing at Other in this context together with the examples of films, shows and educational projects.

This paper examines migratory movements into Poland with a special emphasis on refugee mobility. In the past twenty years, almost 90 000 Chechen refugees have come to Poland, as it was the first safe country they reached. According to the Office for Foreigners data they constituted approximately 90 per cent of applicants for refugee status, 38 per cent of persons granted refugee status, 90 per cent of persons granted ‘tolerated status’ and 93 per cent of persons granted ‘subsidiary protection status’. However, a peculiarity of the Polish situation, confirmed by official statistics and research, is that refugees treat Poland mainly as a transit country. The author focuses on the issue of integrating Chechen refugee children into the Polish education system, as well as Chechen children granted international protection or waiting to be granted such protection. The results of the study suggest that Polish immigration policy has no impact on the choice of destination of the refugees that were interviewed. None of the interviewees wanted to return to Chechnya, nor did they perceive Poland as a destination country. Children with refugee status, which enables them to stay legally in the Schengen area, ‘disappear’ not only from the Polish educational system but from Poland as a whole as well. This phenomenon hampers the possibility of achieving educational success when working with foreign children, and it challenges the immense efforts by Polish institutions to integrate refugee children into the school and the local community. Both official statistical data and research results were used in this paper.

In the following article the author presents basic directions of the European Union’s policy regarding migration and third-country nationals, as well as displays the significance of education in achieving said objectives. This article presents a legal framework of the European Union’s educational policy in migration’s context and shows the problem of immigrants’ integration through education in the culturally varied societies. The author draws attention to the significance of the integration’s model in which intercultural education plays a leading role. The author describes the difficulties associated with implementation of the European Union’s educational policy’s assumptions in local environments. In the article the author presents the conclusions of these issues’ analysis in order to indicate the main areas to improve.
