The article analyzes the processes and phenomena associated with the generating, processing, using and transferring of information, which make up the core elements of the management of information. Looking closer and analyzing the processes and phenomena related to information and information management (based on an example of local governments), the information resources are being presented as key goods of the twenty-first century. The information and marketing sector are being viewed as one of the most promising areas of the new economy.

The issue of the information safety management in enterprises was characterized. The research of literature was conducted with the aim to present different defini-tions of the concept of information. The importance and the role of information for enterprises was defined. The approach of organizational units to the process of establishment of the safety management information system was presented. The role and importance of risk management and the estimation of risk in the information safety process was determined and the threats resulting from the use of social networking websites were discussed. It was attempted to find the reasons for the passive approach of enterprises to ensure the safety of information. It was shown that enterprises prefer savings over the safety of information and they often make investments in a situation when the information is already lost or another incident occurred that adversely affected their operation.

Risk management is an inseparable part of every organization's life. It should be an integral part of the strategy implemented in all of the organizations. The strategy should be constructed in such a way that the management of the risk functions not only as a system avoiding losses, but also allowing to perceive and use opportunities, and create new opportunities for the organization. The aim of the article is to demonstrate the necessity of analyzing the risk of information quality, which significantly affects the customer service process. This analysis was carried out on the basis of T. Kaczmarek's research, which specified the list of 46 elements of the sick enterprise. On its basis, the areas in which information about customer service were created were analyzed, which allowed to identify potentially threatened places and the effects of these threats. The analysis showed that the highest level of risk is related to the delivery time. Individual and corporate clients pay special attention to the lack, or incorrect information on securing the shipment. The lowest level of risk in the examined enterprise concerns the terms of technical assistance, because this item is usually described by the seller in the purchase regulations.

In the context of decreasing importance of the material resources provided by the company achieving competitive advantage it is to discover and use their distinctive competencies and creating valuable intangible assets. Intangible assets such as knowledge, experience or skills, enable the company to run effective instruments of competition, including by creating unique partnerships, which are the most important link in the competitive struggle. However, to be effective, these relations must be characterized by mutual trust. A key part of creating the credibility of the company in the market is implemented information security management system. These considerations were the basis to take issues related to the implementation of innovative solutions for the protection and security of information in the logistics companies operating in the region of Lodz. The reflections and conclusions of the research can help to identify key areas where companies using the tools of information security management can achieve measurable benefits and create a competitive advantage in relation to other entities.

The systems have revolutionized practically all aspects of business processes in enterprises. They improve the processes by ensuring their integration. Data are entered into an ERP system only once and immediately afterwards they can be accessed through any of its modules, which makes them a valuable source of information on the enterprise. Integrating the financial and non-financial data, an ERP package gives new quality to the management of enterprise value. These features make ERPs particularly useful for management accounting processes and for specialists providing management information. This article seeks to answer whether following the implementation of an ERP package the enterprise’s management accounting system becomes more innovative and whether new, modern management accounting tools and methods are introduced. The ERP impacts on management accounting and its practices will be evaluated using six case studies involving enterprises owned by multinational corporations.

Zmieniające się środowisko funkcjonowania państwa (państw) generuje wiele złożonych zagrożeń, które utrudniają, a niekiedy i uniemożliwiają wykonywanie podstawowych zadań przez jednostki, grupy społeczne, naród i państwo. Skala i dynamika zachodzących zagrożeń, bardzo często zaskakuje rządzących i społeczeństwo. Celem niedopuszczenia do sytuacji kryzysowej uprawnione podmioty cywilne i wojskowe muszą zabezpieczać swoje potrzeby informacyjne w sposób ciągły; doceniać znaczenie informacji, potrafić je wykorzystać, by nie dopuścić do wystąpienia sytuacji kryzysowej lub zminimalizować jej następstwa. Oznacza to konieczność budowania systemu informacyjnego państwa, a także podsystemów na każdym poziomie jego funkcjonowania, które będą podstawą dla procesu decyzyjnego. Stawianie zadań, rozliczanie i umiejętne wykorzystywanie posiadanych zasobów informacyjnych w procesie zarządzania kryzysowego państwem pozwala na jego bezpieczne funkcjonowanie w otoczeniu wewnętrznym i środowisku międzynarodowym.
The changing conditions of the functioning of a country(ies) generate many complex threats that hinder and sometimes prevent the performance of basic tasks by individuals, social groups, a nation and a state. The scale and dynamics of occurring threats very often surprise both rulers and societies. In order to avoid a critical situation, eligible civil and military entities must continuously secure their information needs. It is essential to appreciate the importance of information, to be able to use it to prevent or minimize the consequences of a critical situation. This means the need to build the information system of the state, as well as subsystems at every level of its management, which are the basis for the decision-making process. Setting and evaluating tasks, the skillful use of information resources in the state crisis management process, all allow for its save functioning in both internal and international environment.

The article discusses the issues related to organizational changes in the Polish police, the role of the management and executive staff in the changes after the transformation after 1989. The author also presents a comparative analysis of the results of research on the quality of management information in the Polish police in 2002 and 2016. The analysis presented indicates that the Polish police still requires many changes, although many years have passed since the political transformation in 1989. The process of improving police work organisation should always be the main object of attention of the police management. Ensuring efficient and effective implementation of public tasks is one of the key problems of administration bodies, both on national and local level. The role of public institutions’ managers is to develop structure, processes, work organisation in order to fully satisfy citizens’ needs and optimise use of resources. According to the author, it is necessary to combine tactical tasks with police strategy. Organizational structures require constant development and more flexible solutions should be adopted. It seems that it is necessary, as in previous years, to establish a team which will prepare an analysis of the functioning of the Police organisation in a holistic way and indicate the directions of its improvement.
