    From 1945 to 1991 development of housing construction in the Ukraine and in Russia was similar in style and consisted of 4 stages related to political changes. After separation the differences in the spatial image became clearer. According to the statistical information we will see more differences in housing architecture, but in principal in this stage the development of housing is still close.
    Od 1945 do 1991 roku w przebiegającym równolegle rozwoju mieszkalnictwa na Ukrainie i w Rosji można wydzielić 4 etapy powiązane ze zmianami w politycznych wartościach państwa. Po rozpadzie ZSRR i osiągnięciu niezależności państw, mieszkania Ukrainy i Rosji zaczynają się różnić bardziej. Opierając się na prognozach statystycznych, spodziewamy się pojawienia nowych lokalnych zjawisk społecznych i przestrzennych.

    Opis:
    Residential buildings provide a very important, if not crucial, element of the human living environment. They also constitute one of the basic urban development forms. Therefore, the way housing development is designed bears consequences, including those in the field of sustainable development and climate change, for the entire urban body. Both at the EU, national and local level, decision-makers undertake a number of activities by setting standards for designing cities that take into account the requirements of sustainable development and climate responsible activities. The following paper focuses on selected documents developed for Warsaw in the last few years, in which the importance of the abovementioned issues is emphasized. The analyzed documents set regulations and standards for planning the city, including the design of buildings and housing estates. Document records are analyzed through the prism of sustainable and pro-climate design criteria. The present paper is aimed at specifying guidelines intended for architects, according to which new sustainable housing developments should be designed. Moreover, attempts to evaluate the above guidelines in relation to determinants of the designers’ work are made in the present article.

    Pojęcie zrównoważonego rozwoju w ostatnich latach uległo znacznemu rozszerzeniu. Początkowo odnoszony do środowiska naturalnego, obejmuje coraz więcej płaszczyzn, w tym ekonomiczną i społeczną. Celem artykułu jest ukazanie roli społecznego budownictwa mieszkaniowego w zrównoważonym rozwoju. Tematyka mieszkalnictwa dla niezamożnych grup ludności w tym kontekście poruszana w Polsce była przez nielicznych autorów (m.in. Zaniewska, Thiel, raporty IRM), dlatego też stanowi obszar do podjęcia nowych badań. Na podstawie analizy literatury i danych statystycznych autorki ukazują znaczenie SBM w zrównoważonym rozwoju. Odnosi się ono między innymi do zapewniania równego dostępu do mieszkań, przeciwdziałania wykluczeniu społecznemu oraz zmniejszenia nadmiernego wykorzystania zasobów energetycznych poprzez termomodernizację i remonty budynków mieszkaniowych. Część informacji, wykorzystanych przy opracowaniu niniejszego artykułu pochodzi z badań prowadzonych w ramach projektu pt. „Społeczne budownictwo mieszkaniowe i jego rola w zaspokajaniu potrzeb mieszkaniowych niezamożnych gospodarstw domowych w Polsce” finansowanego ze środków Narodowego Centrum Nauki (2014/13/N/HS4/02100).
    The term sustainable development has been recently substantially expanded. It originally referred to natural environment, yet currently it covers more and more areas, including economic and social layers. The aim of this paper is to discuss the role of social housing in sustainable development. The issue of affordable housing within this context has been rarely addressed (e.g. Zaniewska, Thiel, IRM reports) and is thus an interesting field of research. Based on the available literature and statistical data, the authors show the importance of social housing for sustainable development. It is crucial to provide equal access to housing, counteract social exclusion and curb energy consumption by improving thermal efficiency and renovating residential buildings. Some information contained in this paper was obtained while conducting the research project ‘Social housing and its role in satisfying the housing needs of indigent households in Poland’ financed by the National Science Centre (2014/13/N/HS4/02100).

    Housing markets can be understood as indicators of the spatial pattern of capital investment under contemporary financial capitalism. We take this point of entry in order to analyze core-periphery relations around the turning point of the global financial crisis of 2007–2008 on the Hungarian housing market. The instance of crisis sheds light on patterns of homogenization and differentiation; the effects of which can be understood by exploring housing market activity on various scales from the European to the local/regional. We argue that these two patterns of uneven development are inextricably linked and result in deepening sociospatial polarization.

    W artykule zawarto część wyników badań z drugiego rozdziału raportu modułowego „Kapitał fizyczny”. Raport modułowy został zrealizowany w ramach projektu „Zagospodarowanie infrastrukturalne i kapitał fizyczny oraz policentryczność rozwoju Mazowsza” (Trendy rozwojowe Mazowsza). W jednym z rozdziałów modułu, pt. „Kapitał fizyczny – majątek nieprodukcyjny”, znalazł się opis nieruchomości budynkowych i lokalowych w kontekście sytuacji mieszkaniowej Mazowsza. W artykule główny nacisk położono na określenie wartości zasobów mieszkaniowych województwa. Szacunek ogólnej wartości zasobów mieszkaniowych na Mazowszu wskazuje, iż ponad połowa majątku zawartego w mieszkaniach znajduje się w granicach Warszawy, około jedna czwarta na terenie Obszaru Metropolitalnego i tylko mniej niż jedna czwarta na pozostałym obszarze województwa. Ponadto zaobserwowano, że liczba budynków mieszkalnych wzrasta w największym tempie na obszarach podmiejskich. W przyszłości duży ruch budowlany będzie widoczny również wzdłuż ciągów komunikacyjnych. Wraz z polepszającą się infrastrukturą transportową i wydłużającym się promieniem oddziaływania miasta Warszawy, szczególnie w kierunku południowo-zachodnim, po oddaniu do użytku autostrady A2, należy spodziewać się większego ruchu budowlanego na tym obszarze, co będzie skutkować wzrostem cen nieruchomości, w tym wzrostem cen substancji mieszkaniowej.
    In the article, some results from the second chapter of the report module "Physical capital" have been presented. The report module was implemented within the project "Development of infrastructure and physical capital and the development of Mazovia polycentrism" (Trends in Development of Mazovia). In one chapter of the module, entitled "Physical capital – non-productive assets", there was a descrip-tion of the real estate building and housing in the context of the housing situation in Mazovia region. In this paper, the main emphasis has been put to identify the value of the housing region. An estimate of the total value of the housing stock in the Mazovia region indicates that more than half of the assets contained in the flats is within Warsaw, about one quarter in the Metropolitan Area, and only less than a quarter of the rest of the province. Moreover, it was observed that the number of residential buildings comes to the greatest rate in suburban areas. In the future, high-traffic building will also be visible along the roads. With the improved transport infrastructure and the impact of lengthening the radius of the city of Warsaw, especially in the south-west, upon completion of A2 motorway there is expected a boom in the area of construction, which will result in an increase of property prices, including rising prices of housing

    With the turn of the millennium, Chinese central government issued arrays of policies targeted to promote virtuous cycles of vitalization in rural areas, mitigate the socio-economic gap with urbanised regions, and face the problem of food security. The current transition is leading China to have an ever-saturated land where the boundaries between human settlements are elusive and blurred, shaping what is scholarly labelled as an urban-rural continuum. The settlement’s schemes realized over the last years, that consists of small or medium size towns as the result of natural villages relocation or new agglomerations, intercepts the call for urbanity, and its related amenities in terms of infrastructure and services – or, in aword, the desire for ahouse in the city – emerging from the marginalized rural citizens. The authors found that such controversial practices are shaping the new Chinese countryside which, conceived as aform of sustainable development by national programs, turned out to impact significantly on the people lifestyle as well as the built environment. Based on several months on-field observations and recent literature, the paper reveals atwo-fold degree of resilience: weak about the real production of space for dwelling and robust about the intangible culture composed by indigenous beliefs and symbolism entangled with the concepts of home and family.

    Housing is one of the basic human needs, and we can evaluate and compare the standard of living in the states according to the quality and availability of housing. The housing issue has been addressed in the Slovak Republic for several years with an unsatisfactory result. The paper aims to provide an overview of economic indicators related to the construction industry in the Slovak Republic while demonstrating the interconnectedness to sustainable development. Construction production, the construction industry's share of GDP, number of employees, and labour productivity are analysed and depicted graphically. A comparison of 2020 with previous years is also provided. To conclude, viable solutions for improving the sustainable Slovak construction industry are presented.

    The aim of the article is to discuss selected aspects of sustainable development and the conditions for its implementation in relation to the housing market. A critical review of the literature will make it possible to distinguish the political implications that should be taken so that the current functioning of the real estate market does not burden the environment too much, which would enable it to meet the needs of present and future generations, but at the same time not hamper the development of the market and satisfy the needs of the society. According to the Polish real estate sector four groups of phenomena are discussed, namely: social problems related to the functioning of the sector, problems of real estate cycles and crises, spatial allocation of real estate and urban development, and ecological problems as key to the description of sustainable development.
    Celem artykułu jest omówienie wybranych aspektów zrównoważonego rozwoju oraz warunków realizacji koncepcji w odniesieniu do rynku mieszkaniowego. Krytyczny przegląd literatury pozwolił wyodrębnić działania, jakie należy podjąć, aby obecne funkcjonowanie rynku nieruchomości nie obciążało nadmiernie otoczenia, co umożliwiłoby zaspokojenie potrzeb obecnych i przyszłych pokoleń, ale jednocześnie nie hamowałoby rozwoju rynku. W odniesieniu do polskiego sektora nieruchomości wyodrębnione zostały cztery grupy zjawisk: problemy społeczne, związane z funkcjonowaniem sektora, problemy cykli i kryzysów na rynku nieruchomości, przestrzenna alokacja nieruchomości i rozwój miast oraz problemy ekologiczne jako kluczowe dla opisu zrównoważonego rozwoju.
