    The term keyword, created in 1954 by Pierre Guiraud, is also used in con¬temporary linguistics to describe words that, because of their frequency of occurrence, are characteristic of a particular text, the genre of a text or the writer‘s style. The indication of keywords defined in this way in Pro¬testant funeral sermons, which are one of the most representative genres of German moralizing literature of the 16th and 17th centuries, is difficult and often does not provide an answer to the question of what is referred to in a given text. Based on the analysis of a sermon written by Johannes Bugenhagen on the death of Martin Luther (1546), the paper attempts to develop criteria for the selection of keywords in this genre of texts.

    Opis:
    Numerous gravestones written in German-language belonging to representatives of ancient and well-known noble families have been preserved in Lower Silesia. Many of them are in a state of disrepair, so today is the last opportunity to preserve the contents immortalised on them from destruction for the future generations. Many of them have been analysed by historians, but the results of these analyses are often linguistically, translationally and epigraphically so incorrect as to be difficult to accept. A historian who is not a historian of the language – such historians are certainly hard to come by – and who, after all, lacks basic competence in the study of Early Modern High German, the language in which most of the epitaph inscriptions from the early modern period were written, obviously has little chances of a correct linguistic interpretation and successful translation into Polish of a text written in early German language. One of the scientifically neglected epitaph plates is the plate of Adam von Kottwitz, which is located in Konotop (near Zielona Góra). The author of the contribution has set himself the task of examining all the content (verbal and non-verbal) that this record carries. The analysis begins by establishing the correct affiliation of the coat-of-arms symbols to the inscriptions of the genealogical argument of the deceased, which are mostly wrong situated. The author moves on soon to a detailed discussion of the various linguistic planes of the texts appearing on the epitaph. Thus, the author discusses the types of writing used in the record, the spelling of capital and lowercase letters, punctuation and abbreviations used in the text, as well as phraseology, but above all the purely linguistic, even strictly grammatical layer, i.e. the morphological forms and syntactic conditions which characterize the text of the research corpus. A great deal of space is also devoted to graphemes, the study of which is not solely an end in itself, but is intended to lead to shedding some light on the relationship between the graphemes of the written language and the phonemes of the spoken language potentially in use at the time of the monument’s creation.
    Im historischen Niederschlesien sind zahlreiche deutschsprachige Grabsteine von Vertretern uralter Adelsfamilien erhalten geblieben. Viele von ihnen sind im erbärmlichen Zustand, so dass es sich zurzeit wahrscheinlich die letzte Gelegenheit eröffnet, deren Inhalte vor endgültiger Zerstörung für künftige Generationen zu bewahren. Viele von ihnen wurden zwar von Historikern analysiert, aber Ergebnisse jener Analysen sind oft sprachlich, übersetzerisch und epigraphisch dermaßen fehlerhaft, dass sie kaum akzeptierbar sind. Ein Historiker, der kein Sprachhistoriker ist und dem es schließlich an grundlegender Kompetenz in Erforschung des frühneuzeitlichen Deutsch mangelt, der Sprache, in der die meisten von erhaltenen Epitaphinschriften der Frühen Neuzeit verfasst wurden, hat natürlich wenig Chancen auf eine korrekte Sprachinterpretation und eine erfolgreiche Übersetzung eines in Altdeutsch verfassten Textes ins Polnische. Eine der Epitaphien, die bisher wissenschaftlich dermaßen vernachlässigt wurde, ist die schöne Tafel des Adam von Kottwitz (1720), die sich in Konotop bei Zielona Góra befindet. Der Autor des Beitrags hat es sich zur Aufgabe gestellt, den gesamten (verbalen und nonverbalen) Inhalt des Denkmals zu untersuchen. Die Analyse beginnt mit der Feststellung der korrekten Zugehörigkeit der Wappensymbole zu Inschriften des Stammbaums des Verstorbenen; nota bene ist die Zugehörigkeit zurzeit weitgehend falsch. Bald geht der Autor zur detaillierten Erörterung bestimmter sprachlicher Ebenen der auf der Platte erscheinenden Inschriftentexte über. So erörtert er die in den Inschriften verwendeten Schrifttypen, Groß- und Kleinschreibung, Zeichensetzung und im Korpustext verwendete Abkürzungen sowie die Phraseologie, vor allem aber die rein sprachliche, ja strikte grammatische Ebene, d. h. morphologische Formen und syntaktische Bedingungen, die die Korpustexte charakterisieren. Viel Raum wird den Graphemen gewidmet, deren Untersuchung jedoch nicht ein Ziel für sich selbst ist, sondern freilich dazu dient, Beziehungen zwischen Graphemen der Schriftsprache und Phonemen des Gesprochenen, die zur Zeit der Entstehung des Denkmals womöglich in Gebrauch waren, zu erhellen.

    Opis:
    The Halcnovian ethnolect is an old dialect of the Bielsko-Biała's language island, no more used in the everyday communication. There are few written documents which refer to his origin, so it is not known well. In this situation the linguistics, and especially the phonology, can help to find out the land of origin of the Halcnovian settlers. In this paper the author try to analyse the phonologic system of the ethnolect in comparison to the historic phonology of the German language that it derives from. The reference level is first of all the Middle High German (in addition, less taken into consideration, the Old High German and the Early New High German), because, how it results from the analysis, it was the last common stage of evolution. The outcome of the study doesn't contradict the information indicated in the few written documents – the ethnolect has probably emerged from the East Central dialects in the 14th-15th century.
    Der Alznerische Ethnolekt ist einer der Dialekte der Bielitz-Bialaer Sprachinsel und wird im Alltag nicht mehr gesprochen. Es gibt wenige Dokumente, die die Anfänge der Sprachinsel beschreiben, deswegen sind sie größtenteils unklar. In solch einer Situation kann die Linguistik, besonders die historische Phonologie, bei der Suche nach der Urheimat der Alznerischen Kolonisten behilflich sein. Im Artikel versucht der Autor das phonologische System des Ethnolekts zu analysieren, indem er es mit den Systemen älterer Entwicklungsstufen der deutschen Sprache vergleicht. Die Vergleichsbasis ist dabei das Mittelhochdeutsche (neben den seltener berücksichtigten Althochdeutsch und Frühneuhochdeutsch), weil es, der Forschung nach, die letzte gemeinsame Entwicklungsstufe war. Die Ergebnisse der Analyse widersprechen nicht den Angaben, die in den wenigen Dokumenten zu finden sind – wahrscheinlich hat sich der Ethnolekt im 14.–15. Jahrhundert von den ostmitteldeutschen Dialekten abgetrennt.
