    Sanktuarium Matki Bożej Bolesnej w Skrzatuszu od początków swego istnienia słynie z łask udzielanych przez wstawiennictwo Maryi. Od początków jego istnienia, tj. od XVI wieku, gromadzone są liczne świadectwa uzdrowień. Władze kościelne już w XVII wieku powołały komisję teologiczną, której prace doprowadziły do uznania ich cudownego charakteru. Czy również współcześnie, korzystając z kryteriów wypracowanych przez teologię fundamentalną, możemy mówić o cudach uzdrowienia dokonujących się w Skrzatuszu? Historia i współczesność tego miejsca przekonują, że można w tym wypadku mówić o fama signorum (sława znaków), tj. o powszechnym przekonaniu, że w sposób wyjątkowy Bóg udziela tutaj swoich łask. Do uznania przez władze Kościoła współcześnie odnotowanych uzdrowień potrzebna byłaby jednak lepiej gromadzona dokumentacja i weryfikacja medyczna oraz utworzenie komisji teologicznej.
    The Sanctuary of Dolorous Mother of God in Skrzatusz has been famous from its beginnings of many graces given thanks to the intercession of Mary. And from its beginning in the 16th century there have been gathered testimonies of healings. The Church already in the 17th century established a theological commission, which workings allowed to recognize their miraculous character. Could we also nowadays, using the criteria worked out by the fundamental theology, recognize miraculous healings which took place in Skrzatusz? The history and the present of that place can encourage as to talk of fama signorum (the fame of signs), which means a common conviction of special graces of God provided in that place. However, contemporary healings to be recognized by the authorities of the Church need to be better documented and medically verified, and also there need to be a theological commission constituted.

    Among the many miracles performed by Jesus Christ during His earthly life were those related to children. Despite the problems associated with the precise definition of the term “child” as well as the almost complete lack of information on the age of the healed, it seems that at most five miracles of Christ concerning children can be considered. These are two raisings: the son of the widow of Nain and Jairus’ daughter, and three healings: the son of a king’s servant, the daughter of a Canaanite woman, and a possessed boy. The miracles of raising and healings described in the article are certainly only a part of this kind of occurrences that the Savior performed while on earth, because only they were recorded by the evangelists. They prove that anyone can participate in a miracle, and the necessary condition for a miracle to happen is faith, often combined with prayer and fasting. A kind of exception to this rule was the evangelical miracle of the raising of the son of the widow of Nain, that was done exclusively from Christ’s mercy, thanks to His compassionate human heart. Just as during His life on earth, Christ performed miracles by touch or just by spoken word, or even from a distance, so, thanks to the faith of the petitioner, He can do it at any moment nowadays. It witnesses, still bears witness of God’s infinite omnipotence, for whom nothing is impossible.

    Co lekarze mają wspólnego z uzdrowieniami? Czy teologiczne pojęcie „cud” jest do pogodzenia z aktualnym stanem wiedzy medycznej? W jaki sposób można rozpoznać cudowne uzdrowienia? Skąd wynika ostrożność Kościoła w uznaniu niewyjaśnianych medycznie uzdrowień jako cudowne uzdrowienia w sensie religijnym? Celem podjętych rozważań jest udzielenie odpowiedzi na powyższe pytania z perspektywy współczesnej teologii katolickiej. Struktura rozważań obejmuje najpierw prezentację aktualnego rozumienia cudu jako znaku Boga (1); następnie udziału nauk medycznych w badaniu cudownych uzdrowień w Lourdes (2); teologicznego procesu uznania niewyjaśnialnych medycznie uzdrowień w Lourdes jako cudu w znaczeniu religijnym (3).
    What medical doctors have to do with a healing process? Is the theological term “miracle” even compatible with current medical knowledge? How can a miracle cure be recognized? Where does the church's caution come from when recognizing a medically inexplicable healing as a miracle healing in a religious sense? The paper is to present the answer to this question from a perspective of the contemporary Catholic theology. The whole discussion involves firstly a presentation of a new understanding of a miracle as signs from God. The whole procedure involves first of all the idea of a current understanding of miracles as a sign of God (1). Then it will present the participation of medical science in the investigation of the miraculous cures of Lourdes (2). Finally, theological process of recognizing a medically inexplicable healing as a miracle healing in a religious sense will be analyzed (3).

    Taumaturgiczna posługa Jezusa stanowi niemałą część całej Jego publicznej działalności. Zastanawiająca jest jej relacja względem proroctw mesjańskich, a także odniesienie do samego JHWH i Jego czynów. Pytanie o miejsce cudów i znaków – szczególnie uzdrowień – w mesjańskiej posłudze Jezusa, a także uzasadnienie ich wykonywania stały się przyczyną podjęcia badań nad tymi zagadnieniami. Nie bez znaczenia pozostaje także kwestia kontynuacji posługi Jezusa uzdrawiającego przez Jego uczniów. W artykule zostały przedstawione starotestamentalne zapowiedzi Mesjasza, ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem tych, które wskazują, że On ma przynieść uzdrowienie. Zaprezentowana jest także sama posługa taumaturgiczna Jezusa, przez którą spełnia On starotestamentowe obietnice. Zaakcentowana jest również miłość jako motywacja Jezusa litującego się nad chorymi. Ostatnia część poświęcona jest uczniom Jezusa, którzy stają się kontynuatorami Jego misji poprzez głoszenie Ewangelii, której towarzyszą znaki i cuda. Cuda Jezusa, a szczególnie uzdrowienia, mają swoje źródło w działaniu Boga. To On posyła swojego Syna jako Mesjasza, by wypełnił Jego dzieło miłosierdzia wobec człowieka dotkniętego fizycznym – ale i duchowym – cierpieniem. Syn Boży jest wierny w spełnianiu swojej misji. To samo posłannictwo przekazuje swoim uczniom i całemu Kościołowi, który jest wezwany do niesienia uzdrowienia chorym.
    Thaumaturgic ministry of Jesus is a considerable part of the whole of His public ministry. The relation between Jesus thaumaturgic ministry and the Messianic prophecies is thought provoking, as well as is the reference to the YHWH and His deeds. The reason of undertaking the above research is an attempt to answer the question about the place of miracles and signs - especially healings - in the messianic ministry of Jesus and the justification for their execution. Moreover, very remarkable is the matter of Jesus healing ministry continuation by His disciples. The article presents the Old Testament’s announcements of the Messiah, with special attention to those that indicate that He is to bring healing. Jesus thaumaturgic ministry is also presented here. Through this ministry He fulfills the Old Testament promises. The love is emphasised as the motivation for Jesus to have mercy for the sick. The last section of the article is dedicated to Jesus disciples who become continuators of His mission through the Gospel proclamation, accompanied by signs, wonders and various miracles. Jesus’ miracles, especially healings have their source in God’s activity. It is Him who sends his Son as the Messiah to fulfill His work of mercy to a man afflicted with physical - but also spiritual – suffering. The Son of God is consistent in fulfilling His mission, which He passes to His disciples and the entire Church called to heal the sick.

    Wielość cudów i znaków, jakie zapisane są na kartach Biblii, skłania do stawiania pytań o ich właściwe przesłanie. Trudno bowiem uwierzyć, by Bóg czynił je jedynie dla samej ingerencji w świat i życie ludzkie. Jednym z częstszych znaków Boga wobec człowieka jest uzdrowienie z choroby. Również w tym działaniu wyraźnie widać, że Bóg przekracza granice ludzkiego ciała, troszcząc się o całego człowieka. Ewangeliczne sceny są tego niezbitym dowodem. Ważna przy tym jest postawa człowieka, który jest odbiorcą uzdrowienia, a także świadków tego wydarzenia. W artykule zostało ukazane starotestamentalne tło rozumienia cudu-znaku, także na płaszczyźnie terminologicznej. Działanie Boga i Chrystusa, dokonujących uzdrowień, ukazane zostało w kontekście zbawienia, co nadaje tej posłudze właściwe miejsce. Potwierdza to także zaprezentowana terminologia odnosząca się do taumaturgicznej posługi Jezusa. Na tym tle przedstawione zostały relacje między wiarą a uzdrowieniem, zarówno w odniesieniu do Chrystusa, do osoby uzdrawianej, jak i świadków tego wydarzenia. W ostatnim punkcie autor prezentuje realizację posłannictwa uzdrawiania z wiarą i w mocy Ducha Świętego przez Kościół. Cuda biblijne, w tym także uzdrowienia, mogą być właściwie rozumiane tylko w świetle wiary. Nie można bowiem interpretować działania Boga, jeśli się w Niego nie wierzy. Z tego względu w taumaturgicznej posłudze Jezusa, który także działa z wiarą, warunkiem do uzdrowienia jest ufność, że może On dokonać cudu. Do wiary wzywa on tych, których uzdrawia, a także świadków tego wydarzenia. Jednocześnie budzi On i umacnia wiarę, pod wpływem dokonanego uzdrowienia. Do tej misji posłał Chrystus cały Kościół, czego wyrazem jest posłanie i obietnice przekazane Apostołom (Mk 16,15-17).
    The multiplicity of miracles and signs that are written in the Bible, prompts us to ask questions about their proper message. It is difficult to believe that God did it only for the sake of interference in the world and in human life. Healing disease is one of the more common signs of God for people. In this action we can clearly see that God transcends the human body and takes care of the person as a whole. The Gospel scenes are the unquestionable proof of that. The attitude of a man, who is the recipient of healing, is important as well as is the attitude of witnesses of this event. The article shows the Old Testament background to understand the miracle-sign, also at the terminology level. The activity of God and Christ, performing healings has been shown in the context of salvation. which gives this ministry the right meaning. This is also confirmed by the terminology presented in relation to the thaumaturgic ministry of Jesus. Based on this background the relationship between faith and healing has been presented in relation to Christ, to the person receiving the healing, as well as to the witnesses of this event. In the last section of the article the author presents the mission of healing with faith and in the power of the Holy Spirit realised through the Church. The biblical miracles, including healings, can be properly understood only in the light of faith. It is impossible to interpret the actions of God, if one does not believe in Him. For this reason, in the thaumaturgic ministry of Jesus, who also acts with faith, trust that He can perform a miracle is a condition for healing. He calls to the faith those, who He heals, as well as witnesses of this event. At the same time He stimulates and strengthens the faith, under the influence of healing. Christ sent the whole Church for this mission,, which is reflected in the message and promises transferred to the Apostles (Mk 16,15-17).
