    Easy access from platforms to trains is limited by the free space between the platform edge and coach floor, named the gap. The standard definition of the gap is described together with a description of all the difficulties affecting passengers, arising from different platform heights and different passenger vehicle floor placements over the rail head. The gap is a cause of accidents. The article describes techniques which are used to reduce the gap’s infl uence on passenger safety (metro, railway), which may relate to the infrastructure, technical solutions associated with vehicles or platforms, as well as organizational solutions related with appropriate information.

    Opis:
    Professional identity combines some elements of personal and social identity in the area of goals, values, principles and measures. The paper focuses on the reflection of ambiguity of creating teachers’ professional identity during educational reform. The new system of teachers’ professional advancement has been in place in Poland for more than ten years. We have conducted complex empirical research aimed at comprehensive evaluation of that system (teachers, heads of schools and local authorities were surveyed). The theoretical framework is constructed on the concepts of the contemporary narrative theories of Ch. Taylor, A. Giddens, P. Ricoeur. There is a yawning gap between the path of improvement of quality imposed by the formal requirements of the system and the needs and educational aims formulated by teachers themselves, stemming from their everyday practice. The research provided important implication for educational policy, such as: a necessity for combining statutory requirements with particular school needs and teachers’ individual development.

    Purpose of the text is to study a concept of development capability and possibility to express it quantitatively. Concept of organization’s development is shown as process of eliminating gaps encountered by organization. A mathematical model of “problem cleaning” is used. It is shown that: There is a mathematical model of closing development gap, which involves characteristics of gap, of resources and parameters of development process. There are four quantities that determine performance of development process. They refer to organization’s characteristics that are set by the strategic management. Model illustrates impact of strategic decisions on effectiveness of development and shows that “time to gap” is one of key factors that determine development capability.

    In this work, the validation of selected presented method measured of length fatigue gap was shown. The article describes three methods of determining fatigue gaps. The object of the study was the first stage compressor blade from aircraft engine. Blades have defects on the leading edge. This defect on the blade (as a result of the resonance vibration) was the origin point of the fatigue gap. Two of the methods, fluorescent and thermovision, were optical. The fluorescent method was a direct measurement, whereas direct-indirect thermography. The last of the presented methods was an analytical method, showing an algorithm based on amplitude-frequency characteristics. The advantages and disadvantages of these methods were compared. As a result of the analysis performed by the algorithm, there were specified patterns defining the dependence of change in crack length depending on the asymmetry of AF characteristics. The accuracy of the following methods and the results obtained for chord length were determined. Thanks to such use, these results have a utilitarian meaning. Such a compilation allowed us to evaluate the usefulness of particular measurement methods. Proposed methods of measuring the length of fatigue crack are used in experimental studies. It is also possible to implement them for research conducted during the operation of an aircraft engine.

    Let S be a finite set of positive integers. A mixed hypergraph ℋ is a onerealization of S if its feasible set is S and each entry of its chromatic spectrum is either 0 or 1. The minimum number of vertices, denoted by δ3(S), in a 3-uniform bi-hypergraph which is a one-realization of S was determined in [P. Zhao, K. Diao and F. Lu, More result on the smallest one-realization of a given set, Graphs Combin. 32 (2016) 835–850]. In this paper, we consider the minimum number of edges in a 3-uniform bi-hypergraph which already has the minimum number of vertices with respect of being a minimum bihypergraph that is one-realization of S. A tight lower bound on the number of edges in a 3-uniform bi-hypergraph which is a one-realization of S with δ3(S) vertices is given.

    The aim of the study was to determine the spatial variation of vapour pressure (e), relative humidity (f) and vapour pressure deficit (Δ) on the clear−cut and gap as well as to compare the spatial distribution of air humidity conditions on both areas. The research was carried out in Rogów Forest Experimental Station (51.827023°N, 19.922315°E) on a clear−cut with a width of 60 m and on a gap of an ellipsoid shape (40×70 m). The measurements were carried out in two series: spring−summer, i.e. in the period when the height of the sun during the day conditioned inflow of direct solar radiation to any surface (May−August 2006), and autumn, i.e. when direct radiation was limited by neighbouring stands (October−November 2006). We found the modest spatial diversification of vapour pressure that, on average, amounted to 0.4 and 0.2 hPa in the clear−cut and gap, respectively, in spring−summer period as well as 0.3 and 0.7 hPa, respectively, in the autumn. The major impact of the clear−cut and gap location was marked in relative humidity and humidity deficit. Differences in relative humidity on the clear−cut amounted averagely to 3.7 and on the gap 12.7%, whereas the humidity deficit equalled 0.3 and 5.4 hPa, respectively. Particularly large diversification of relativity humidity and vapour pressure deficit was in spring−summer period in the situation of heat waves. In that weather conditions in sun−filled clear−cut and gap parts, the relativity humidity fall to about 17%, whereas vapour pressure deficit increased to about 60 hPa. In the same clear−cut and gap parts the occurrence of dry days was more frequent that in other places. It was noticed that in the positions located in sun−filled clear−cut and gap parts (z4, g3), the diurnal vapour pressure course was very similar to the one observed in the forest, whereas the course of the relativity humidity and vapour pressure deficit was significantly different. That is mainly involved with the extreme thermal conditions in this parts of the studied areas. The least beneficial humidity conditions for plants growth occurred in the north−east parts of clear−cut and gap, that’s why it necessary to take particular note of these locations when undertaking the silvicultural treatments.

    The aim of the article is to examine the relationship between the literary layer and the documentary paratext in Hélène Gaudy’s novel Un monde sans rivage (2019), which describes the catastrophic expedition to the North Pole of three Swedish travelers in 1897. Authentic documents present the flow of events, the growing struggle between the waning power of travelers and nature, the entropy of resilience and motivation, which is visible in the laconic and incompleteness of the quoted materials (interrupted or illegible sentences), destroyed in the middle of the photo. The manner of presenting these documents reveals the writer’s method of work, which does not hide their progressive degradation, but on the contrary, treats them as a trigger for the imagination, because her story seems to draw narrative momentum and strength from this lack and incompleteness. Gaudy’s way of working with a documentary allows us to understand why the author needs this formal heterogeneity, why she has not decided on a documentary account or fictional novel. The skillful intertwining of these two formats generates a synergistic dynamic of forces that makes literature better embody life, and the documentary comes to life in contact with the literary imaginary.

    The paper summarises the theoretical study of a magnetorheological (MR) damper operated in squeeze mode, intended to be used as an actuator in a semi-active mount system in a car motor. The structural design and operating principle of the damper are described and a simplified model of the MR fluid flow in the gap is presented. The plots of the damper force generated by the MR damper are obtained for monoharmonic piston motion with respect to the centre point of the gap height and in the conditions of the control coil being supplied with direct current.

    Opis:
    The spatial variability of the density of Scots pine and silver birch natural regeneration in gaps has different pattern in subsequent development stages. The pine seedling density was inversely proportional to the amount of solar radiation reaching the floor in artificial gap estimated by modeling (the highest density occurred in the southern, shaded part of the gap). The top soil layers drying−off that is a result of the insolation is thought to be the main factor limiting seed germination and early growth of both species, however pine response at this stage was greater. The highest birch undergrowth density was observed in the central part of gaps. It might be the result of relatively low root competition of old trees and a good light supply in this part of the gaps.

    In the modern world the information appears to have the most important role since without it is hard to imagine the proper functioning of the society, economy and the state. It is especially visible on the example of the economy where the information becomes not only the most valuable commodity (that affects the competitive advantage) but is also separated as the independent category of the means of production and influenced the change of the paradigm of the economy and the process of management. Of course it is not about any random information but rather an asset that allows a single individual and the society alike to function properly. Such asset is a certain minimum of information necessary for its proper development that we call as the ‘informational minimum’. Unfortunately such minimum is not always (and not anywhere) provided therefore a disturbing phenomenon of informational crisis can be observed. It manifests itself in the shape of both decrease of quality and the amount of information, as well as in the crisis of the informational infrastructure and the institutional crises. The means of preventing this is the ‘informational order’ based on one hand on the order of hierarchy of function and on the other, (which is crucial) on the non-transferable human rights: a right to the truth and a right to the information. The provision of such order is one of the basic duties of the state and the institutions regulation social life, the economy and politics.
    W dzisiejszym świecie informacja wydaje się posiadać najistotniejszą rolę, ponieważ bez niej trudno jest sobie wyobrazić należyte funkcjonowanie społeczeństwa, gospodarki czy państwa. Szczególnie widać to na przykładzie gospodarki, gdzie informacja staje się nie tylko najdroższym towarem i oddziałuje na przewagę konkurencyjną, ale poprzez wyodrębnienie jej jako osobnej kategorii czynników produkcji wpłynęła także na zmianę samego paradygmatu ekonomii i procesu gospodarowania. Oczywiście nie chodzi tutaj o jakąkolwiek informację, ale o taki jej zasób, który pozwoli każdemu człowiekowi, a także każdemu społeczeństwu prawidłowo funkcjonować. Taki zasób stanowi pewne minimum informacji, konieczne do jego należytego rozwoju, które określamy jako minimum informacyjne. Niestety, nie zawsze i nie wszędzie takie minimum jest zapewnione, dlatego obserwuje się nierzadko niepokojące zjawisko kryzysu informacji. Będzie się to przejawiać zarówno w postaci obniżenia jakości i ilości informacji, jak i kryzysu infrastruktury informacyjnej czy też kryzysów instytucjonalnych. Sposobem zapobieżenia temu zjawisku jest ład informacyjny, opierający się z jednej strony na porządku hierarchii funkcji informacji, a z drugiej – co najważniejsze – na niezbywalnych prawach człowieka: prawie do prawdy i prawie do informacji. Zapewnienie takiego ładu należy zresztą do podstawowych obowiązków państwa oraz instytucji organizujących życie społeczne, gospodarcze i polityczne.

    W pracy przeprowadzono analizę możliwej przyczyny występowania samoczynnego zapłonu mieszanki paliwowo-powietrznej lotniczego silnika spalinowego obciążonego mocą maksymalną podczas badań na hamowni silnikowej. Takie objawy niepoprawnej pracy silnika mogą występować także w locie samolotu i śmigłowca. W celu wyjaśnienia przyczyny niepoprawnej pracy silnika zastosowano nieliniową analizę metodą elementów skończonych. Określono dyskretny model uproszczonego układu zespołu cylindra silnika obejmujący kadłub i tuleję cylindrową. W analizie numerycznej uwzględniono zarówno siłę mechaniczną, wynikającą z obciążenia zaciskiem tulei cylindrowej w kadłubie jak i obciążenie ciśnieniem czynnika roboczego oraz obciążenie nierównomiernym polem temperatury. Przemieszczenia i naprężenia w tulei i kadłubie obliczono metodą elementów skończonych za pomocą systemu PATRAN oraz systemem ABAQUS. Wynikło to z konieczności uwzględnienia silnej anizotropii właściwości tulei cylindrowej z żeliwa szarego podczas rozciągania i ściskania. Geometrię części modelowano elementami płaskimi o topologii czterowęzłowej z elementami kontaktowymi dwuwymiarowymi sprzęgającymi. Analitycznie wyznaczono także naprężenia zginające w zespole cylindra wywołane obciążeniem bocznym tłoka silnika poprzez uwzględnienie ciśnienia czynnika roboczego, sił masowych i siły tarcia. Obciążenie ciśnieniem i temperaturą zespołu cylindra określono w wyniku badań stanowiskowych silnika. Charakterystyki materiałowe żeliwa szarego i żaroodpornego stopu aluminium wyznaczono doświadczalnie. Wyniki nieliniowej analizy statycznej naprężeń i odkształceń dla połączenia tuleja cylindrowa-kadłub wykazały, że w obszarze zwrotu zewnętrznego pierścieni tłokowych wystąpiły wysokie naprężenia i odkształcenie plastyczne tulei cylindrowej, wywołujące brak styku połączenia tych elementów. Zakłóca to przepływ ciepła z tulei cylindrowej do kadłuba i stwarza możliwość niekontrolowanego zapłonu mieszanki paliwowo-powietrznej. W silniku istnieje konieczność stosowania zacisku średnicowego tulei w cylindrze w granicach 0.21÷0.42 mm, co wynika z rozszerzalności cieplnej elementów w warunkach jego pracy z maksymalną prędkością obrotową i obciążenia maksymalną mocą. Połączenie skurczowo-rozprężne tulei z cylindrem dla największego zacisku powoduje odkształcenie plastyczne żeliwa szarego tulei cylindrowej. Wymagana jest zmiana gatunku lub rodzaju żeliwa o wytrzymałości doraźnej powyżej 400 MPa.
    The paper analyzes the possible cause of self-ignition of air-fuel mixture in spark-ignition internal combustion engine loaded with maximum power during tests on the engine dynamometer stand. It leads to incorrect engine operation and may also occur during the flight of an aircraft or helicopter. In order to explain the cause of incorrect engine operation, a non-linear analysis using the finite element method was applied. A discreet model of a simplified engine cylinder assembly system comprising a cylinder body and the liner was determined. The numerical analysis includes both the mechanical force resulting from loading the cylinder liner clamp in the body as well as the pressure of the working medium pressure and the load on the non-uniform temperature field taken from engine test-bed measurements. The results of nonlinear static analysis of stresses and strains for the cylinder body-liner connection have shown that in the area of TDC where outer piston ring turns back, high stresses and plastic deformation of the cylinder liner occurr, causing a lack of contact between these elements. This disrupts the heat transfer from the cylinder liner to the cylinder body and creates the possibility of uncontrolled ignition of the fuel-air mixture.
