Celem artykułu jest pokazanie, w jaki sposób koncepcja ram interpretacyjnych może być zastosowana przy badaniu tekstów medialnych. W części pierwszej przedstawiono, jak rozwijała się ta koncepcja, poczynając od lat 70. ubiegłego wieku aż po dzień dzisiejszy – ze szczególnym uwzględnieniem rozwoju w obrębie nauk o mediach. W części drugiej omówiono definicję ramy oraz rodzaje ram. W części trzeciej zajęto się problemami metodologicznymi związanymi z analizą ramową: wyborem metody badania i wyborem jednostki analizy. Zwrócono uwagę na nieuwzględnianie w analizach ram multimodalnych. W zakończeniu wyliczone zostały kwestie, które przy analizie ramowej wymagają jeszcze rozstrzygnięcia bądź doprecyzowania.
Scientific objective: The purpose of the paper is to examine how the concept of interpretive frame can be applied in media studies. The first part presents how this concept developed, from the 1970s to the present day—with particular emphasis on development within media studies. The second part discusses the definition of a frame and the types of frames. The third part deals with methodological problems related to the framing analysis: the choice of the method and the choice of the unit of analysis. Attention was paid to not including the multimodal frame in the analyzes. Finally, the issues which in the framing analysis still need to be resolved or clarified were identified.

Próbuję odpowiedzieć na cztery pytania: jaką metodologię wykorzystywać, jak dobrać jednostkę analizy, jakie środki ramowania uwzględniać, jak opisywać współdziałanie środków werbalnych i niewerbalnych.
The article is devoted to the methods of researching interpretative frames in media texts. Since it is assumed that all these texts are polisemiotic the frames themselves must be multimodal. I try to answer four questions: what kind of methodology should be used; how to choose the unit of analysis; which framing devices should be taken into account; how to describe the cooperation between verbal and non-verbal devices.

The paper analyses the image of woman in the interpretative frame of Russian paremias. The author asks a number of questions: What role does the woman play in society and family? How is she treated by her husband? How do they treat their children? Who is the woman juxtaposed with? Who is she compared to? Answering these questions the author tries to reconstruct the image of woman functioning in the Russian awareness. This is the image passed from generation to generation in proverbs and sayings, which are the products of language, culture and awareness.

Opis:
The article oers an insight into the importance of frames and their features to convey the meaning of Japanese onomatopoeia in the translation process. Based on the present scientic and practical research of the novel by Haruki Murakami Wind-up Bird Chronicles and its translation by Jay Rubin, there have been counted frequencies of use along with clarication of the semantic and stylistic peculiarities of onomatopoeia. Frame analysis, which is used to convey the meaning of Japanese onomatopoeia in the context of the English translation, enables to identify the main characteristics of Japanese syntax, especially the use of particles. Since there is no grammar case in Japanese, onomatopoeic verbs are determined by particles, and predicate plays the main role in the sentence structure. In this case, particles may form additional grammar cases. To visualize his inner world, Haruki Murakami uses onomatopoeias that convey emotions and feelings of the protagonist, as well as the descriptions of peculiar features and sounds of nature. It is the presence of mimetics that enables Murakami to create a complex frame net that intertwines the main storylines through the permanent repeating of some onomatopoeia.

This article explores the phenomenon of elections as a political chronotope, a spatio-temporal realm where the mechanisms of democracy unfold. Its aim is to elucidate the unique socio-political nature of elections. The author establishes that the spatial and temporal characteristics define the format and regulations governing electoral interactions. The term «chronotope» is understood as an interdisciplinary concept that captures the essential connections between temporal and spatial features within a specific order of phenomena. Although extensive research has focused on the social, technical, and psychological aspects of expressing one›s will, the ontology of elections, which encompasses the comprehension of the «unity of time and place of action» and the involvement of political actors in the electoral scenario, has been largely overlooked. Additionally, this study concentrates on the concept of the electoral situation, which delineates the synchronous and diachronic connections wherein citizens’ political choices are positioned, realized, and interpreted. The notion of the electoral situation can be correlated with the term «political landscape», which is only partially related to actual geography but predominantly pertains to the comprehensive conditions of an electoral competition (the coordinate system) and the participants involved in this process. The article’s author illustrates how the electoral situation constructs synchronous and diachronic connections at various levels of political interaction. Notably, these connections are facilitated by political mythologems, which serve as unifying and integrative factors within the electoral chronotope. By examining these mythologems, the author highlights their role in shaping the narrative and symbolism surrounding elections, ultimately influencing the dynamics and outcomes of the electoral process. Overall, this article delves into the intricate relationship between elections and the spatio-temporal framework in which they occur. By emphasizing the significance of the electoral situation and its connection to the broader political landscape, the author sheds light on the multifaceted nature of electoral processes, enriching our understanding of democracy’s fundamental mechanisms.

The influence of selected factors on the strength of angle joints of frame elements. The research determined the impact of 5 types of adhesives (PVAc, EVA, PO, PO met., PUR) and the time elapsed since the moment of gluing (4, 8, 12, 24 and 72h) on the strength of the mitre joints of frame elements made of MDF. The elements of the frames were additionally connected with metal staples. As a reference option, joining elements without an adhesive, using only staples, was employed. The strength of the connections was determined as the maximum module when testing connections in two configurations: compression and tensile strength. For each variant, 10 repetitions were performed. It was demonstrated that regardless of the test system or the time elapsed since gluing, the highest values of the modules were recorded in the case of the EVA adhesive. In turn, the use of PO and PUR adhesives requires a long bonding time, while PO met. and PVAc adhesives are characterized by low suitability for gluing mitre joints made of MDF sheets (values of modules comparable to the values of modules having only stapled connections).
Wpływ wybranych czynników na wytrzymałość połączeń kątowych elementów ramek. W ramach badań określono wpływ 5 rodzajów klejów (PVAc, EVA, PO, PO met., PUR) oraz czasu, który upłynął od momentu klejenia (4, 8, 12, 24 i 72h) na wytrzymałość połączeń uciosowych elementów ramek wykonanych z płyty MDF. Elementy ramek łączone były dodatkowo zszywkami metalowymi. Jako wariant odniesienia zastosowano połączenie elementów bez kleju tylko przy użyciu zszywki. Wytrzymałość połączeń określono jako moduł maksymalny podczas badania połaczeń w dwóch układach: na ściskanie i rozciąganie. Dla każdego wariantu wykonano po 10 powtórzeń. Wykazano, że nieżaleznie od zastosowanego układu badania czy też czasu, który upłynął od momentu klejenia najwyższe wartości modułów odnotowano w przypadku kleju EVA. Z kolei wykorzystanie klejów PO i PUR wymaga zastosowania długiego czasu wiązania, zaś kleje PO met. i PVAc charakteryzują się niską przydatnością do klejenia połączeń uciosowych z płyt MDF (wartości modułów porównywalne do wartości modułów połączeń tylko na zszywki).

A J-frame is a frame F for a Krein space (H, [•,•] ) which is compatible with the indefinite inner product [•,•] in the sense that it induces an indefinite reconstruction formula that resembles those produced by orthonormal bases in H. With every J-frame the so-called J-frame operator is associated, which is a self-adjoint operator in the Krein space H. The J-frame operator plays an essential role in the indefinite reconstruction formula. In this paper we characterize the class of J-frame operators in a Krein space by a 2 x 2 block operator representation. The J-frame bounds of F are then recovered as the suprema and infima of the numerical ranges of some uniformly positive operators which are build from the entries of the 2x2 block representation. Moreover, this 2x2 block representation is utilized to obtain enclosures for the spectrum of J-frame operators, which finally leads to the construction of a square root. This square root allows a complete description of all J-frames associated with a given J-frame operator.

Cel: opis mechanizmów ramowania, identyfikacja konkurujących ram i pomiar wyników rozgrywki narracyjno-interpretacyjnej (framing contest) na przykładzie ramowania ataku na biuro poselskie Prawa i Sprawiedliwości 19 października 2010 roku. Metody badań: interpretatywna strategia analizy ramowania polegająca na indukcyjnej, jakościowej rekonstrukcji ram z wykorzystaniem homeostatycznego modelu narracji. Przeanalizowano lokalizację ram w strukturze analizowanych tekstów i związane z nią zabiegi metakomunikacyjne (przeramowujące). Obliczono relatywną ekspozycję ram, a także jednorodność (homogeniczność) i przechylenie ramowania z wykorzystaniem wskaźnika koncentracji Herfindahla-Hirschmanna i na tej podstawie stworzono mapę wyników rozgrywki interpretacyjnej. Badaniu z zastosowaniem oprogramowania do analizy danych jakościowych MaxQDA12 poddano artykuły informacyjne czterech wiodących dzienników opublikowane w dzień po relacjonowanym incydencie. Wyniki i wnioski: analizowana rozgrywka interpretacyjna była silnie spolaryzowana. W badanym przypadku zidentyfikowano tylko dwie dominujące i jedną marginalną ramę. W artykułach informacyjnych występowała znacząca jednostronność i tendencyjność ramowania przejawiająca się wysokimi wartościami wskaźników homogeniczności i przechylenia ramowania. Tylko jeden z czterech dzienników eksponował konkurujące ramy w zbalansowany sposób. Dzienniki stosowały dwie wzorcowe strategie forsowania wybranej ramy: otwartą stronniczość („Nasz Dziennik”) i subtelną metakomunikacyjność („Gazeta Wyborcza”). Oryginalność i wartość poznawcza: zaproponowana konceptualizacja ramowania przywraca pojęciu narracyjne i metakomunikacyjne pierwiastki. Przyjęta strategia indukcyjnej rekonstrukcji ram unika powszechnego w analizie ramowej problemu niejasnego związku między ramami a materiałem empirycznym. Badanie realizuje postulat zwiększenia szczegółowości analizy ramowej poprzez redukcję jednostki kodowania do zdania. Tekst proponuje narzędzia precyzyjnego pomiaru ekspozycji ram i wizualnego mapowania rozgrywki interpretacyjnej i tendencyjności ramowania.
Scientific objective: description of framing mechanisms, identification of competing frames and measurement of the results of a framing contest on the example of framing the attack on the parliamentary office of the Law and Justice party on October 19, 2010. Research methods: interpretative framing analysis strategy based on inductive, qualitative reconstruction of frames using a homeostatic narrative model. The location of the frames in the structure of the analyzed texts and the related metacommunication (reframing) procedures were examined. The relative exposure of the frames as well as the homogeneity and tilt of the framing were calculated using the Herfindahl-Hirschman Index, and on this basis the map of the results of the framing contest was created. Qualitative data analysis software, MaxQDA12, was tested in news articles from four leading newspapers published the day after the reported incident. Results and conclusions: the analyzed framing contest was highly polarized. In the case studied, only two dominant frames and one marginal frame were identified. There was a significant one-sidedness and bias of framing in news articles manifested by high values of the homogeneity indices and framing tilt. Only one of the four newspapers presented the competing frames in a balanced way. The newspapers used two exemplary strategies for pushing through the chosen framing: open bias (Nasz Dziennik) and subtle metacommunication (Gazeta Wyborcza). Originality and cognitive value: the proposed conceptualization of framing restores the concept of narrative and metacommunication elements. The adopted strategy of inductive reconstruction of frames avoids the problem of an unclear relationship between frames and empirical material, common in frame analysis. The study implements the postulate of increasing the detail of the framework analysis by reducing the coding unit to a sentence. The text proposes tools for precise measurement of frame exposure and visual mapping of framing contest and framing bias.

A trailer for carrying a small boat or water scooters was designed for a private sector company. It was a category O1 non-braked trailer with a gross weight up to 750 kg and a height-adjustable traction device. The frame must be designed and installed in such a way that, during its proposed lifetime, it will withstand all the loads and influences that may occur during construction and operation with an appropriate level of reliability. The designed frame of the trailer is a welded galvanized structure. The article is devoted to the problems related to the stress analysis of a trailer frame.

Artykuł omawia jakościową analizę pracy konstrukcji i kształtowanie form mebli o wspornikowo-ramowych schematach statycznych. Przedstawione są zasady podziału schematów tych mebli na wsporniki i ramy oraz działające na nie obciążenia. Wysokości podłużnych profili elementów są dobierane do wykresów momentów zginających, znalezionych na podstawie linii ugięcia. Zaprezentowany materiał pomaga rozwijać intuicyjne wyczucie przebiegu sił wewnętrznych i może być wykorzystany przez projektantów mebli i architektów wnętrz zainteresowanych tworzeniem oryginalnych i logicznych elementów wyposażenia wnętrz.
The article discusses a qualitative analysis of the structural behaviour and shaping forms of cantilever and frame furniture. The rules for dividing schemes of the furniture into cantilevers and frames, as well as the loads acting on them are presented. Longitudinal profiles of elements are adjusted to bending moment diagrams found on the basis of deflection lines. The presented material helps to develop an intuitive sense of the internal force flow and can be used by furniture designers and interior architects interested in creating original and logical interior design elements.

By applying persuasion and consumer research findings to art appreciation we have checked whether and how artwork framing affects the evaluation of non-representational, abstract contemporary paintings. The frame can be treated as a cue signaling the value of the framed work—the more expensive it seems, the greater the value attached to the painting. However, the frame can be also seen as a means of exhibiting or promoting the picture. Exhibiting a painting in a frame that is perceived as excessively expensive can lead to a lowered rating of this painting. Both of these effects can be moderated by the perceivers’ interest in art. We conducted one experimental study, where participants evaluated paintings viewed either without a frame or framed in a simple or decorative frame. The results showed that decorative frames make paintings seem less valuable. Moreover, although simple frames do not affect the evaluation of the paintings by respondents with little interest in art, they impair the evaluation made by more interested participants. It seems that in certain conditions (highly visible frame or engaged perceivers) the frame can be treated as a form of promotion for the framed painting. And such attempts can backfire and negatively impact the evaluation of the painting.

Opis:
The lorry frame is the main carrying part of a lorry, composed of several components. These components are connected by joints into one structural unit and it forms the lorry chassis. The contribution of this article is focused on thestrength analyses of a backbone frame, which is used on an off-road lorry chassis. Strength analyses are carried out utilising the finite element method. This article presents a created three-dimensional model of the frame and definition of boundary conditions (loads, the definition of degrees of freedom) needed for simulation computations. Results of the numerical calculations are the main parts of this article. Attention is mainly centred on the distribution of stresses of the frame under defined loads and its deformations.

Współczesne metody analizy konstrukcji umożliwiają przeprowadzenie wieloaspektowych badań danego obiektu juz na etapie projektowania (przed wytworzeniem tego obiektu) i zwalniaja z konieczności wykonania badań doświadczalnych (w przypadku, gdy obiekt istnieje).

Opis:
Fiction and cinema are in the mode of constant interactive exchanges. At the initial stage of its formation as an art form, cinema not only actively borrowed, used and processed popular literary plots, but also transformed into its expressive system (poetics) purely literary means of expression. In its turn, fiction even before the advent of cinema used techniques that from a modern point of view can be classified as “cinematic”. In the process of developing its language (film poetics), the art of cinema not only “discovered”, transformed these means, but also expressed and improved them. As a result, the reverse effect arose and the poetics of cinema began to be integrated into the expressive and pictorial system of the art of speech, and especially actively from the 20s of last century. This process should be considered in the context of the synthesis of arts, the intensification of which took place at the turn of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, when it was claimed that the art of the modern era acquired new forms of expression. In order to study the elements of film poetics in literary texts, it is necessary to thoroughly review the main components of film language, they are categories “editing” and “frame”, the first definitions of which were given by film directors (L. Kulieshov, S. Eizenshtein, V. Pudovkyn, M. Romm, A. Tarkovskyi). and literary critics (V. Shklovskyi, Yu. Tynianov, Yu. Lotman). Accompanying them should be considered cinematic means “plan”, “angle” and “rhythm”, the consideration of which includes the analysis of their manifestations in works of fiction. The functionality of the installation is easier and more accurate to explore the data of the history of its formation and attitude to it. Therefore, this exploration is devoted to the initial stages of development of cinema, in particular its specific means, as well as the achievements of the classics of cinema.
Художня література і кіно перебувають у режимі постійних інтерактивних обмінів. На початковій стадії свого формування як виду мистецтва кінематограф не лише активно запозичував, використовував і обробляв популярні літературні сюжети, а й трансформував у свою виражальну систему (поетику) суто літературні виражально-зображальні засоби. Своєю чергою, художня література ще до появи кінематографу користувалася прийомами, які із сучасного погляду можуть кваліфікуватися як «кінематографічні». У процесі розвитку своєї мови (кінопоетики) мистецтво кіно не лише “відкривало”, трансформувало ці засоби, а й увиразнювало та вдосконалювало їх. У зв’язку з цим почався зворотний вплив – поетика кіно почала інтегруватися у виражально-зображальну систему мистецтва слова, й особливо активно – із 20-х років минулого століття. Цей процес слід розглядати в контексті синтезу мистецтв, інтенсифікація якого відбувалася на межі ХІХ–ХХ ст., коли стверджувалося, набувало нових виражальних форм мистецтво епохи модернізму. Задля глибшого вивчення елементів кінопоетики в літературних текстах необхідний ґрунтовний огляд основних складників кіномови – категорій “монтаж” та “кадр”, перші визначення яким дали кінорежисери (Л. Кулєшов, С. Ейзенштейн, В. Пудовкин, М. Ромм, А. Тарковський) та літературознавці (В. Шкловський, Ю. Тинянов, Ю. Лотман). Супровідними до них слід уважати кінематографічні засоби “план”, “ракурс” і “ритм”, розгляд яких включає також аналіз їх проявів у творах художньої літератури. Функціональність монтажу легше і точніше дослідити на даних історії його становлення та ставлення до нього. Тому ця розвідка присвячена початковим етапам розвитку кінематографу, зокрема його специфічних засобів, а також досягненням класиків кіно.
